Waterfall &amp; Brook Camping

I loved staying at Kathy's over the weekend! She is one of the most genuinely kind, caring people I have met in all of my travels. The way her property is set up allows you to camp right next to the river which was gorgeous and hearing the water from my tent was so relaxing. I also felt totally safe staying there alone with my dog. Her place is very quiet and I slept so well! She has a little tented outdoor bathroom set-up which was so convenient and a great idea-easy to use and to clean up/dispose. She's about 45 minutes from Stowe and even closer to Montpellier so I found myself exploring both towns in the daytime! Thank you Kathy (and your dog Jojo). I will be back again!

This was my second time staying on Katherine’s Property, my first time staying at Tuck-Away. I definitely recommend!! I came back for a solo camping trip and Katherine made me feel like I was right at home. I arrived late and it was pouring rain, she had set up solar lights along the trail so I could park easily and walk to my site. Each site has their own little trail. It was maybe a couple hundred feet to the site up a small slope. There is a little “game room” you pass by you can play checkers! Tuck away is next to another site and there was a group staying there the same weekend. However Kathy has built a nice divider and the site still feels very private. It is exactly what she says, this site is above the dirt road and barely heard anything. You’re very secluded. It’s a brief walk to the creek for a brisk morning swim!! Definitely take Kathy up on the tour of her property. She has so many stories to tell. Kathy is the absolute sweetest and made me feel very comfortable, it was my first time solo camping and I will definitely be back!! This is great for solo camping or groups. I spent most of my time hiking in the area. This is a hidden gem!

I want to come back just to hang out with Kathy!!! Kathy is such a bright personality and she went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. Her little dog Jojo is also completely precious. We loved walking on the trails Kathy carved around her house, and she had the best recommendations for swimming. The swimming near the site was unbelievable and was definitely a highlight of our trip. It takes the cake for my favorite swimming hole in the state. Thank you Kathy for an incredible stay!

We absolutely loved camping on Kathy’s land and have already booked again! We stayed at the brook side campsite and this was perfect for the two of us. She has a parking spot set aside for each site, brookside is the closest and only a couple hundred feet away. She gave us a wagon to carry our gear which was super helpful. Yes you can see the house and she does have cute privacy blinds you can pull across but chose to leave them open. It’s a wonderful property, Her wildflower garden is beautiful. She even took out photo in front of it! We pitched our tent in a little hill clearing she made which gave us more privacy. We did opt for the tour around the property and we are very glad we did. Kathy shows you all of the best swimming holes along the brook. (Very much needed during the 90 degree day) Plus her dog JoJo might come along and then it’s a real treat! The property is near a state park, also lots of hikes. Kathy was so warm and welcoming, we absolutely loved our chats together. We cannot recommend Kathy’s enough.

Kathie is a phenomenal host who made me feel instantly welcomed. Her property has access to trails, perfect for wandering through the woods and soaking up nature. The private beach was definitely the highlight for me. The water is crystal clear, and I loved spending time there swimming, reading and listening to the brook. If you’re looking for peace, quiet, and a chance to reconnect with the outdoors, this place is a gem. And Jojo, her sweet and silly pup, just makes the whole experience even better.

Camp by the magical river!

We loved Katherine's spot so much!! She gave great directions and came out to meet us and show us around when we got there, and we met her adorable little dog Jojo. The site itself was well cleared and tucked back into the trees with a privacy wall dividing it from the second site which is very close. Incredibly, I think I saw maybe 3 mosquitoes the whole time we were there which was an unexpected treat. The area is unbelievably gorgeous--the river is majestic with tons of spots to dip in, hang out, explore. The trails weave through peaceful woods. The old bridge is fantastic. We had easy access to the waterfall right across from her house... couldn't be better! We loved hearing the river in the evening as we cooked over the fire :-) We'd love to come back. Wonderful Trip

What a wonderful 3 day weekend getting away from the world. Sitting in the Brook, kayaking during the day and night time by the camp fire, taking in the fresh Vermont air. Katherine was exceptional as a host. As a solo traveler, It was a blessing knowing that although away from the world for a bit, if I needed anything, Katherine was there. Katherine's place far exceeded our expectations. It is pure magic—the brook is amazing and the woods right behind our campsite was beautiful. The sites are very close to parking so it's super easy to get everything to your site. Katherine was informative and kind and we felt very welcomed. We will be back again

Amazing camp and host

Katherine is an amazing host and has such a great site. Her sites in her backyard are right next to the woods and have plenty of privacy. Her property is connected to beautiful woods that have trails to hike on as well as a river with many swimming holes to use. The most important though is Kathy and how well she treated us and made us feel comfortable. She greeted us with information on how-to-do's along with provided us supplies we needed like first aid items for my dad. I highly recommend staying here at her camp - you will be very pleased!

I stayed in the 'Brookside 1' campsite on Katherine's property and absolutely loved it. Katherine is warm, welcoming, and made sure that I had everything I needed. This campsite is closest to Katherine's house, so you don't really have the feeling of being out in the forest, but it was totally ok for me. It's also the site that's closest to the river, which I loved. There's a path at the back of the campsite that leads onto a network of trails through the forest which were lovely to explore. I highly recommend this site to anyone looking for a beautiful and peaceful spot. Thank you for everything Katherine!

Peaceful refuge by a rumbling river

We had a great stay at Katherine's. Her land is beautiful and she's such a sweet lady. The camping site is well maintained, the river and forest are wonderful! The trails are well preserved and it makes for a nice walk in nature. Kathy showed us many different spots to bathe in the river, however, we chose to go to the same place everyday as it was easier for my 5 year old twins to enjoy. We stayed on site 1, which is relatively close to her home (as mentioned in the description of the site), but I was more than ok with it. She gave us plenty of freedom and even put a curtain up if we would like to block the view from the house. Kathy was a wonderful host. We had an issue with our tent and she offered to host us in her home. She even helped with the little ones while I was taking our tent down. I would definitely recommend staying at her place if you're looking for a relaxing stay.

We loved camping on Kathy’s land! She was very attentive and nice, and her dog was super sweet. Site #3 was spacious and private with wonderful sounds from the waterfall nearby. There were many beautiful trails in the woods to explore and we were there at the perfect time to see the leaves start to change. Highly recommend!

The location of this site is incredible. Katherine's property abuts this beautiful stream which has an amazing waterfall that is wonderful to listen to both during the day and at night. Katherine was a terrific host. I booked Brookside due to its proximity to the stream. However, when I go to the site it was smaller that I expected. So, I asked Katherine if a larger site was available as I was planning to do a lot of campfire/dutch oven cooking. for my son's birthday. Luckily, a larger site was available and Katherine move us to this site with no problem at all. This site was perfect for what I needed. The site had a firepit, grilles for the firepit, 2 tables and 3 chairs. On Saturday night I baked my son a cake in the dutch oven and invited Katherine and our tenting neighbors to share cake with us. Katherine provide the red sprinkles for the cake! Katherine's hospitality and knowledge of the area was remarkable. We took advantage of her suggestions and explored the area hiking. This is truly a wonderful spot.

We had a great time staying with Kathy! It was the perfect site for our group of nine people - plenty of room and lots to explore! The woods and creek were beautiful and easy to get to. Kathy was so helpful getting us settled in and showing us a map of the area. She also took an adorable photo of our whole group!

Don’t Book

**PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING** The description of this site and location is not accurate. This “site” is located literally in the host’s backyard, approximately 70 feet from her home in which you can see with absolute clarity. No privacy whatsoever. Trail that runs along this “site” is accessible to the public to which the host informed us upon arrival that someone on a dirt bike had driven through up into her backyard the night prior to our arrival. Host recommended NOT going in the nearby water because of “bacteria and debris”. We requested to move sites and was informed that the other alternative was for “large parties” and that she sometimes receives same day bookings. We expressed directly our concerns re: lack of privacy and the proximity of this “site” to the host. She offered to hang shower curtains on the power lines or for us to back our car into the backyard. Would not issue a refund either. Would NOT recommend booking here as the description of this “site” is wildly, if not comically, inaccurate.

When we arrived we were created by Katherine, our host. She showed us around the property. We were offered any of her three sites because the other two cancelled... So we chose The Tuckaway. We originally booked The Brookside which was also very nice but we ended up choosing The Tuckaway because it was VERY secluded and private. Each site had its own bathroom, table and chairs, and fire pit. The sites were very clean and quiet. We went right after that hurricane beryl went through the area. A lot of the side roads were destroyed and inaccessible. The "brook" that is right next to Katherine's property was more like white water rapids. The water could be heard very clearly from the campsite. Water was very rough but refreshing. We couldn't go very far into the water because we would have been swept away. Weather was excellent for us. We will definitely be back when there wasn't a hurricane.

Katherine was a great host! She greeted us on our arrival and was very patient with our delay getting there due to traffic. We stayed at the tuckaway site within 5 min walk from two different brooks! It was a very secluded spot. We had a great time hanging out and relaxing by the brooks, would really recommend this spot if you are looking for some great by the water camping.

Best destination for a family with young kids! Or anyone really! The woods are dense and peaceful with the sounds of the river. There’s access to a short hike and a beautiful water fall on site. Katherine is a wonderful host who made us feel right at home. There is so much to explore within walking distance of the site. We had the best time exploring the old railway trail behind her house. There were so many hidden gems everywhere. A covered bridge, beautiful fields and forests all within walkimg distance. One of the highlights was finding our own little spot on the river where we spent the day relaxing and swimming in the crystal clear water.

What an amazing time we had at Katherine’s camp! Her land is beautiful. She was so accommodating and truly cared about our experience, meeting us on arrival to welcome us and go over the ins and outs of how to get around the property. The site is well maintained and, even though there are three campsites posted, there is enough space that it doesn’t feel crowded. Each site has its own private trail bringing to camp. She has grates over the fire for cooking, which came in so handy. Her place is right by an incredible swimming hole with a stunning waterfall. The memories made will be hard to forget. Thank you so much for such a lovely stay, Katherine (& smidge)!
