Very nice, remote campsite. Lots of space and open prairies with wildflowers and patches of oaks. Directions were clearly communicated and were clear on the ground once at the site. Would definitely recommend and plan to stay again if I’m passing through the area!

Awesome site. Very private. The only sign of other people were the rare small airplane (looked like a two seater, just once during the whole stay) and maybe some off distance boat engine once on the rare occasions (though nothing within eye sight). Loved my stay. My dogs had such a great time. They're city dogs so first time off leash! Im not big into fishing, but the beach is perfect set up, and even saw some large ones swimming around! Like over two feet!

3 nights at Carly's Bait And Boondocking

Please Note: We tent camp to fish so our experience was based on mostly fishing. We had a great time! This spot is about 100 yards from the beach. There is a public bathroom and outdoor showers nearby. There are piers and small jetties to fish from close by. There is a boat ramp about 5mins away at Indianola. Marc has a nice little setup on the back end of the camp for some fishing and we were easily able to launch kayaks into the saltwater lake/marsh. Saw tons of big reds. Unfortunately, the wind (20s sustained & 40mph gust) limited our time and range on the kayaks. Even so, we were able to catch a nice slot red in the marsh that we gifted to Marc. Definitely don't recommend wade fishing back there due to the soil being very muddy/soft and is a major safety hazard. 1 step and your leg is calf deep in the mud (wouldn't wanna get stuck or sucked into the deeper parts of the lake). Marc was great and we definitely plan to revist in the summer.

4 nights at Dead End Creek

Cool camping spot that you wouldn’t expect in a place like Goliad. We stayed in the Skulltree camp and the shade the two oak trees produce is perfect on warmer days. It stays ten to fifteen degrees cooler in the shade. Plenty of space to set up camp, there were quite a few fire ant mounds within the campsite so be careful for that. Hosts were fantastic, great communication prior to showing up, and they leave you be, wish we really loved and appreciate! Would highly recommend!!

40 acres – “Big enough to explore, but not too big to get lost!” Hike alongside the meandering Navidad. The 2/3 mile-long developed walking trail offers pristine views and a good opportunity to scout your campsite. Each area features a distinct slice of Texan wilderness, whether you prefer wooded terrain or a lookout over the river. One site features a handmade brick firepit and a perfect spot for stargazing. During the day, you can follow the river to some waterholes and try your luck at catching catfish and perch. Celebrate your success with a picnic under a sprawling oak, keeping an eye out for deer, rabbits, and other playful animals. If exploring is more your style, head into the woods and hunt for Bandit’s Hideaway, a hollow old sycamore with secrets to tell. Depending on the season, you might stumble on wild dewberries or an ancient grove of pecans. At night, grill your family dinner over the firepit (or sneak ‘em back to town for some Tex-Mex!) and then tell ghost stories at the south fence overlooking Enon Cemetary. After a long day, settle in together with the stars and the sounds of nature. They say life’s what you make it, and at the 40, you’ve got everything you need for a little piece of heaven! While the property is largely undeveloped as of now, we plan to add pubic bathrooms, a stocked pond with a swimming area, and much more! Pets allowed. Please be sure to pick up after them.

Beautiful off grid dispersed camping on Lava Bay, steps away from the beach and marsh. Sunrises and sunsets are unobstructed from this location. Quiet and peaceful, yet just close enough to the local marina, shopping, and restaurants. Easy access to camp from Ocean Drive. Zero overhead hazards on property, ex. no overhead power lines or tree limbs. Excellent fishing on both the Lavaca Bay/ beach side, and the marsh side of the property. Bring your own kayak or small boat. Launch from the property or anywhere else near by. Shore fishing can be excellent at times. Bird enthusiasts will love the Magic Bird Sanctuary located directly behind the property. Bring your binoculars to get closer to the action. If you are looking for space, relaxation, beautiful scenery and the chance to wet a line, this may be the place for you. Carly's Bait and Boondocking will soon have a small bait shop. Until then, your host will provide you with bait, fish, and crab traps that will be located in the marsh. Feel free to take as much bait from the traps until the actual bait shop is up and running. Pets are welcome! We are close to Magnolia Beach, Port Lavaca business district, and Indianola. When you feel the gulf breezes, you know you've made it to Goose Island. Nestled near St. Charles and Aransas Bays, this Texas state park is all about the water. We're talking boating, kayaking, fishing, and birdwatching along the coast. The only thing you can't do is swim. (Sorry.) That said, there's plenty of luck to be had on the 1,620-foot fishing pier. A boat launch and kayak/canoe launch are also available. Remember to bring your own boat! No stay is complete without visiting the main attraction—a 1,000-year-old oak lovingly dubbed The Big Tree. (Don't worry, it's still standing strong in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.) We primarily cater to month to month guests working in the area so there's not a ton of activities around, but my wife and I are full-time RV'ers so we are hosts as a way to give back to our awesome community. We are located super close to Magnolia Beach though where there is free beach camping for 14 nights! Pets are allowed. Please make sure you pick up after them.
