Tired of the city ordinances that restricted raising fouls, I decided to look for an acreage that is not too far nor too close to the city and which allowed the raising of farm animals. As of this writing, we have 2 beautiful heifers, 18 sheep, and colorful giant kois in the pond that once in a while can be seen when they swim near the surface. We built a log cabin in the 17-acre property in preparation for downsizing when the boys go to to college. But when our neighbors had to move back to England, they sold us their house and 11-acre land. With the cabin on the 17-acre now vacant, we decided to open it for camping (on the land) or renting out the log cabin after building the 2-acre pond. Learn more about this land: Stay in the log cabin, or pitch a tent. Enjoy stargazing, or just enjoy the peace and quiet of the property.  Pick wild grapes  or wild blackberries (when in season) or spring wildflowers. Kayak or canoe in the pond.  Bring your fishing gear and bait. Cabin use is free, but these are STRICT RULES. 1. No pets please, not even emotional support animals of any kind due to allergy in the family (we use the cabin when not booked). 2. No smoking inside the cabin 3. Do not use the bathroom towels for kitchen purposes or to wipe off dirt 4. Please no outdoor footwear indoors, but you are welcome to wear clean indoor footwear. Violation will result in forfeiture of the entire deposit 5.  Cars MUST be parked on the rocked section, thus walking is necessary from this point.  This is a 2-3 minute walk. The driveway might be dry but, no vehicles will be allowed past the rocked section due to unpredictability of weather. If it rains, vehicles will get stuck in the pasture. 6. Never leave food - solid or liquid - where ants can find them or you will cause them to infest the house including your bed! They can do so faster than you can imagine. 7. Please do not bring more people than officially booked, or we will cancel the reservation. No refund. We also close the gate once you have checked in to prevent the animals from escaping. 8. The moisture content can cause shrinkage or expansion of the ground, which can lead to leveling issues to the cabin. So please be aware that doors may or may not open or close smoothly.

When you stay in one of our inflatable bubbles on the farm with an enormous pool, not only do you get to experience something new and exciting, you also have access to so many fun things to do! The coolest part? The top is transparent, so you can fall asleep wishing on a star. This inflatable bubble is anchored to a sturdy wooden deck and inflated with an air blower. There is a retractable awning that covers each bubble reducing the green-house effect during the daytime and can be opened to reveal the beautiful skyline during the day or the wonderous starlit sky at night. Inside you’ll find a cozy king bed that can comfortably sleep up to three guests (2 adults and 1 child). There is air conditioning and heating inside as well as a full private bathroom. The bathroom even has a clawfoot tub! Toiletries are provided for you during your stay. The bubble is located in Sam Houston National Forest on a beautiful ranchette of almost 8 acres. On the ranchette you’ll be able to see chickens, turkeys (seasonal), goats, pigs, rabbits, and a garden near the home as well as livestock grazing in the pastures. Wildlife is present in the forest, so there are some food restrictions inside the bubble to keep you safe. (See “rules to keep in mind”) A pathway that is clear during the day and perfectly lit for your convenience at night takes you directly to a fully equipped outdoor kitchen. There, you will have access to a BBQ pit, an outdoor pavilion, pool, hot tub, and pool house. If you’d like to have some fun, games like corn hole, oversized connect-four, water volleyball, and horseshoes for you to enjoy. Me and my family loved it. Real nice and quiet place, the fire pit, the tent, and had almost everything you need, such as a table, chairs, even an hammock. There is not much to wonder around but is cozy, so you shouldn’t need to. The only thing is that the restroom is not super close, so the only thing I would’ve brought was a portable potty for easy going.

Within 30-45 min of college station, this was the perfect weekend getaway! Site 22 was spacious and had good hammocking trees! It was very close to the restroom with was a great bonus. We spent the day in the little boats on the lake, and hiking the beautiful trails. Julie was very helpful and kind and brought us firewood along with a visit from the cutest dog! Lots of room to park our cars, the trees blocked the wind very nicely. You can’t go wrong with any site at 5D Ranch!! Already planning another trip sometime soon!

I think I found a hidden gem for the price of a piece of coal. This camp ground thought of it all. Clean, convenient, and quiet. I was able to relax and reorganize in the midst of my trip. I will definitely mark this as a place to stop again. Tip: book through hip camp for the deal. The address takes you across the street onto a narrow road. Watch for their sign.

This is a fantastic campground. I was there for two nights. Took a 14-mile loop hike on Day 1 and a 13-mile loop hike on Day 2. On both days, hit the trail literally steps from my campsite. Looped to the West one day and to the East the next, and the Circle C campground is located smack in the middle. Could not have been better situated. The campground is well-maintained, spacious, with nice facilities (one-stall public restroom, one-stall outdoor shower with hot water, covered pavilion with tables, sink and cooking/grilling equipment). I car-camped and could not have asked for a better spot. I will be back and recommend it highly.

Quietness has a new definition at 5D Ranch! Miles of forest-filled trails with serine camping possibilities everywhere! Julie’s deer is so tame it’s like a family pet. Weather doesn’t matter nearly as much as at other campsites, due to the more firmly-packed sandy access roads. It rates 5-Stars!

1 night at Circle C CampGrounds

Our trip to this camp was not planned, but we are glad we found it. This ended up being our first stop on day/night 1 of the Lone Star Hiking Trail. This was part of my son's scouting work in Trail Life USA. We came up on the back gate well after dark and quickly though it would be a great place to stay. The owner answered the phone and after few instructions we were all setup. We took advantage camp site 1. Having running water, a shower and restroom was a surprise on the trail. Host was great, good communication. Good choices of open or secluded camp sites. This is now one of our top choices for our annual winter group campout. Note that some camp sites can be a long walk (or short drive) from the restrooms. Bring your own tables as not all sites have tables.

Terry was an amazing host. He let us check in a bit early when got there sooner than we thought. The restroom was super clean. The Pavillion with picnic tables gave us a spot to play cards. Terry brought us firewood which came in handy since it got down to 23 last night. Plenty of trees for hammocks at spot 6 and 7. He has 3 disc golf baskets and a couple of ponds where you can feed the fish (No fishing allowed).

I loved camping at the glamp and camp! It was perfect. The fire pits, the area, the cleanliness, the showers and RR. The directions were super easy to follow even coming at night. Would definitely recommend. Even brought my doggy. We had a blast.
