This part of the central Texas pine forest, that once stretched from Austin to Louisiana, was spared in the 2011 wildfires. We bought the original 22 acres in 2009 and built our retirement home in 2012. Since then we have added an additional 20 acres and 2 short term guest houses. In 2018 we hired a wonderfully creative wood worker, Mark Korzeniewski, to build a tree house overlooking our lily pond so we could watch sunsets and listen to our bird and frog orchestras. The result was so magical that we decided to share with others.

Hobbit's Nest
Enchanting Treehouse in The Pines
We loved staying here, the hosts really went above and beyond and thought of everything. A magical treehouse far enough away from any highway to feel truly excluded from society while still feeling safe and comfortable. The outdoor shower/kitchen and fire pit where highlights of the site. 10/10 would recommend, we will be coming back!

In love with this treehouse...
James and Sandy were impeccable hosts. They made sure to give great recommendations for dining, dog parks, etc. and made sure we were comfortable, understood how all the eco-features worked, and knew they were just a message away if we needed help. The accommodations were one-of-a-kind, and I can't compare any other rental to this experience. It was somehow eclectic, cozy, and still left us feeling like we were absolutely free to explore and appreciate nature. The triple digit heat kept us inside the very capably air-conditioned treehouse more than I would've liked, but everything inside and on bottom floor was comfortable to deal with the elements! Thank you for a perfect weekend retreat!!!

The treehouse was beautiful! It was nice hearing birds chirp as we wake up with morning coffee. Thank you!
