A peaceful campsite in the country. Our campsite is on a private 1 acre section near our residence. You can enjoy watching the wildlife or stargazing at night. On site, you will have a cozy bed, hammock swings, outdoor shower, fire pit with grill, and an outhouse. Access to the nearby creek is just minutes away. The Magnolia is a great place to escape from the city. Some of the wildlife you may see or hear are cows, squirrels, rabbits, owls, coyotes and our free range chickens. This is our family farm, though you probably will not see us much. The campsite is located on a corner of the property on Cummins Creek and once you get there you will feel secluded in nature. Matt grew up here swimming, fishing and exploring in this creek...the creek has taught him more about life than anyone ever could. I hope that you too can understand why we always walk alway feeling like this is a very special spot! Quiet natural location away from the busy city. Located on a private access dirt road so a 4x4 or all wheel drive vehicle is recommended. There is a firepit but please burn inside the cinder blocks areas and keep it under control (not too big). Do not burn when it is windy. There should be wood available near the firepit. If more is needed, please help yourself to the branches on the land. Please make sure to completely put the fire out when done; there is a water tank near firepit to help you put out/soak the fire. There are 6 acres and you are welcome to camp anywhere you like, in the open areas or in the woody areas at the back. We have a RV barn area that can be used for shade, sitting, eating, relaxing, etc. You can use the tables and chairs. There is also a white water container on the table or the blue 55gal drum that you can use for washing. There are two 32 gallon rubber trash buckets that you can put trash in but make sure lid is closed when you're done to keep animals out. This site does have limited solar electric power in RV area. To use the microwave on the table, make sure to first power on the solar system by pressing the black button on the control box (see photo) on wall behind RV and then turn on the surge strip that microwave is plugged into. There is no running water so please plan accordingly. There is currently not a toilet available but I'm planning on building a composting toilet soon. For now, use the natural way and make sure to bury. For security, there is one camera on the property located near the front entrance and it is mainly for monitoring the front entrance area. There is also another camera near the north side of RV barn mainly for security of storage room and RV; for your privacy, on your book days, I will remotely turn the camera towards front entrance away from firepit and RV area. The RV barn currently already has a RV parked in it Our long-term plan is to also make the RV available, but we would need to install an in-ground septic system and electricity first.

Having a functioning bathroom despite being a primitive campsite is nice, and you're not too far away from the town if you need anything. Beautiful property. We were the only campers there since we were the only ones crazy enough to go camping in 90 degree weather. The lake with the canoes was a little small but still fun to row around in. The bathrooms at the entrance were nice. It was fairly clean in there but there was a spider. Also the lights in there did not work.

Our four-night stay at Site 19 was honestly one of the most peaceful and refreshing experiences we’ve had in a long time. The scenery was absolutely beautiful — quiet mornings, incredible sunsets, and a level of serenity that’s hard to find anywhere else. Weekend Trip to 5D RANCH

5D is so close to home yet it feels so remote. This site was very large and surrounded by dense woods so it felt very secluded and private. The trails and sites are well maintained. We spent a great weekend here with friends and the kids loved exploring the trails.

My daughter and I rented The Happy Place for a few nights and it couldn't have been more perfect. Everything was set up so nicely in the glamping tent and the location was private, wooded and very quiet. Dana was very courteous and helpful and I'd highly recommend staying here ---I'll be back for sure. Amy

Fantastic camping ground! Hiking trails were great, bathroom was very clean, campsites are spacious. I will definitely be returning!

The boats are meant for one but there's just enough room for a friend (provided it's a dog).

About

Named after the “Father of Texas,” this well-maintained park is set near the birthplace of the Anglo American settlement in Texas (learn about them at the San Felipe Historic Site next door). Several overnight facilities at Stephen F. Austin offer more than 100 campsites, including RV sites, tent sites, group sites, and lodging options. The park also features five miles of hiking and biking trails, playgrounds, ball courts, an 18-hole golf course, and an interpretive nature center. Visitors can fish from the banks of the Brazos River or try to spot the plentiful wildlife, including white-tailed deer and more than 100 species of birds.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Plan to make a reservation as soon as you know your dates. Campsites and cabins can be reserved up to five months in advance, while the group hall and group camp can be reserved 12 months in advance.
If your plans are flexible and you want to avoid the crowds, try to visit during the week or during non-holiday periods.
If you don’t have a reservation, arrive at the park first thing in the morning to grab any unreserved sites that might be available for walk-ups.

When to go

The park is popular from spring to fall. Visit in spring for wildflowers—especially bluebonnets. You can also see fireflies light up the evening sky in May or June. Hiking and birdwatching are best in spring and fall, when the weather is the most pleasant.

Know before you go

Swimming in the Brazos River is not recommended due to swift currents and changing water levels. Trails may close due to weather or when muddy.
Bring bug repellent, as mosquitos can be an issue here.
Gathering of firewood is prohibited in the park. Firewood and ice are available for purchase.
Generators cannot be used inside the park.
Pets are not allowed inside buildings, and must be kept on a leash and attended at all times.
