About 2 miles as a crow flies from Lost Maples State Park. You drive through a 13,000-acre ranch to get to us. We are at the end of a dead-end road with one way in and one way out. NO FISHING As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are-- 1. Below the Green Cabin 2. The Ranch is our place we like to go when we need to get away. It's raw and it's nice land to camp, explore and enjoy wildlife. We have a Wildlife Exemption on the property and enjoy managing native song birds. We keep a constant flow of bird seed located in feeders around the ranch, and we have seen all kinds of birds making this a great place for birders. The ranch has nice elevation changes with a wet weather creek that traverses the property. There are some trails to hike or mountain bike. The cabin is rustic without plumbing or electricity, but we enjoy it and it's fun to think it's everything we would need. This is off-grid living all the way, and we are constantly learning new and better ways to do things. The cabin is located on the very first spot we pitched a tent after purchasing the land, and we continue to make improvements as we go. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

3 nights at Dark Sky/Hike/Bird/Bike - Utopia

We loved our stay at the Hideaway! The cabin is quaint but very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked for us to cook breakfast and dinner every night. We enjoyed the hot tub, star gazing and had plenty of room to spread out and relax. The land was beautiful! We saw hummingbirds, turkeys and lots of deer. It is the perfect place to stay when enjoying the area.

2 nights at Dos Rios - Hill Country Adventure

I've never used Hipcamp before. I was worried that the site itself would be underwhelming, but if anything, the listing under sold it. This is an adorable property that is thoughtfully put together so that guests have a good experience. I stayed in cabin six, which was basically a little hotel. I brought a lot of things with me (dishes, towels, etc.) that I didn't actually end up needing because this place was fully stocked. The owner came by and checked on us, told us that if we needed anything to text and they would come running. The AC kept everything nice and cool inside. There are many places around the cabin to sit and relax, as well as several places outdoors. There's no cell signal, but I think the wifi at this property is better than my home wifi in the city. The river is just a short walk from the cabin. The town square is less than a 15 minute drive and there's a few wineries. I definitely plan on coming back!

Weekend Trip to Seco Ridge Campgrounds

We stayed at Seco Ridge Campground with family and friends and had such a great time. It’s a super quiet place, and literally they had everything we needed over there. Time by time we kept finding new things to explore, which made the trip so much fun. It is really comfortable, and perfect spot to just relax and hang out. We're definitely coming back again. Highly recommend!

Wonderful place run by wonderful people. Cabin was right on the edge of the lake and parking is right by the cabin. The location itself is pretty secluded which is nice but not too far from town to try the blueberry pancakes at The Dam Grill if a storm ruins your morning plans.

Very beautiful property and really nice accommodations. Loved the hammock swings. The fridge is more of a small fridge rather than a mini fridge which was nice. Between the grill and electric cooktop you can cook whatever!

The resort exceed expectations from the accommodations, where we visited several of the cabins and pods, to the scenery, and the ultimate privacy for a week in the hill country. We are already planning our return visit.

I enjoyed a wonderful 2 night stay at HiLine Resort. Very pleasant lakeside cabin with great view of the lake. Nice picnic table seating lakeside with small charcoal grill. Pleasant restaurant and very friendly owners. Basic accommodations, not fancy but very adequate and clean.

Plenty of seating and places to get comfortable.

3 nights at Seco Ridge Campgrounds

My two sons, dog, and I stayed in The Bunkhaus and had a really wonderful time. Our family has been going through some rough times and I was looking for a place where we could spend time together and find peace. It was a bonus that we could bring our 16-month old rescue dog with us as he is our first dog and very spoiled. He was a little over protective but everyone we met was very kind about it. The property was exactly what we needed - far away from city life but also with the amenities to make it an easy place to go and unwind. Also, having Garner and Lost Maples (two very dog friendly spots) nearby was so convenient. We were delighted to be able to swim and hike with our pup. All of us agreed that this was a great trip and that we want to come back to The Bunkhaus. Thank you to Woody and his family for their hospitality and kindness to my family.

3 nights at The Charmadillo: Glamping Resort

This place was wonderful! So cute and comfortable with lots of amenities on site. The star-gazing is insane here! We also enjoyed the sauna and a dip in the cowboy pool. Close to fun attractions for outdoor adventures. Great coffee in town at Central Provisions in Center Point. We'd love to come back sometime!

The owners treated us as family! Made sure our grandsons had access to kayaks, canoes, basketball court, everything! They had ice and cold water bottles waiting for us at the cabin. The cabin was fully stocked with all essentials as well as movies, magazines, games, & coffee. Cabin was adorable and so comfy. Loved it being so close to the river. We will definitely return! We ended up staying at Cabin 3 instead of cabin 1.

3 nights at Seco Ridge Campgrounds

Seco Ridge has been our family's favorite spot for a couple of years. We've always tent camped here, but this was the first time we stayed in the Bunkhaus, and it was great! The property has lots of trails for walks, biking trails, various sitting spots, and a beautiful sunset view spot! We also love that it's smack dab in the middle of Garner and Lost Maples state parks. The community kitchen is a great perk too. It's fun to hang out at the picnic tables, play games, and meet other campers. Each camp site has plenty of space so you never feel on top of people. Lots of trees for hammocks too. Woody is a great host, and I always come back from here relaxed and refreshed.

Great experience. Host was very nice and accommodating, providing firewood and his own fire starters. Kids enjoyed the plethora of activities (ie basketball, disc golf, feeding chickens, goats, etc). Garner State Park is not far if looking for top notch hiking trails. Highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to SKYE Texas Hill Country Resort

Booked last minute, incredible spot! Shana the manager even let me in and took me to my cabin after she was off. Quiet, pup friendly, wild life was beautiful. The maintenance manager even filled up my tire w air. Shana the manager even helped me w some unforeseen van rental issues. Sunrise & sunsets here are spectacular and the only glow at night are the stars.

2 nights at Cabin at the Ranch - Harper, TX

Loved the rustic cabin I can tell a lot of work and care went into this location. I wondered around the land for several hours to look at all the plant and wildlife and was not disappointed. The donkey’s were curious about me as a visitor but quickly lost interest and meandered away when they found out I didn’t have any approved treats for them. I had a wonderful time of rest and disconnection from society.

2 nights at HomeAway Ranch & Wildlife Preserve

I stayed in the Lindavista Cabin and the pictures don't do it justice. The inside of the cabin is completely styled in luxury country chic. You'll find a giant LCD television in the living area, stainless steel appliances, lcd-enabled mirrors in the two full bathrooms with wraparound glass showers (one on each floor), a huge two-person jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom upstairs, remote controlled air conditioners and fans on each floor, a private balcony off of the master bathroom, and a fully enclosed sunroom off the master bedroom that could also be used as an additional bedroom for more guests. Even the kitchen faucet has an LED light that shines from the water to let you know whether the water is hot or cold. There's a comfortable little porch at the door of the cabin, and I was visited by an entire group of 9 or 10 adorable goats a couple of times each day! The cabins on this property are spaced pretty close together, but the owners did an excellent job of arranging them so that the cabins do not directly look into each other, a relief since there are no curtains in any of the many windows of this cabin. There was a small hiccup on check-in time (Hipcamp said 2pm but the owners told me 3pm not long before I arrived), but otherwise I couldn't have asked for a more relaxing, peaceful, and luxurious stay.

2 nights at Cabin at the Ranch - Harper, TX

We loved staying at the off grid cabin. The location was great and Travis is an excellent host. It has an amazing view of the western horizon with jaw dropping sunsets. We found the cabin more than equipped for our needs, there was even a solar battery for charging devices. Fire pit was awesome and we enjoyed hanging around in the hammock. I don’t agree with some of the complaints in other reviews, I have a feeling they thought they were getting an AirBnB. This is a picturesque off-grid cabin in the hill country with amazing views. If you are looking for solitude, stars and nature this is a sure bet.
