The best experience I ever had! Jim is very welcoming and friendly. The cabin he built is stuffed with love and intention. Everything is so thoughtful and well made.
If you go there, you have to watch the night sky! It is beyond comprehension.
Suited for 2, perfect for 4, maybe a little narrow for 6. Bring enough water and supplies.
Thoughtful use of resources like water and electricity is mandatory.

3 nights at Casa de Keaveny Cabin and Campsite
Jim is a very friendly host with lots of stories to tell. We love this cabin and this was our third stay at the Casa. Dark skies, and quiet nights.

My wife and I really enjoyed our 3 week stay at Casa de Keavany during January. Our host Jim was very attentive and helped provide the local perspective for our activities. If peace, quiet and serenity are what you are looking for, than look no further. The views are spectacular in every direction. The cozy comfy cabin provided all the conveniences we were looking for in this off the grid setting. We love spending time in Big Bend National park and Terlingua and are looking forward to a return trip!

Jim's cabin was as described, and with added comforts including a flush toilet, shower and bed on the lower level so these older bones didn't have to climb a steep stairway each night! Jim was available, helpful and friendly, assisting with any issues that came up.

My spot, 32, wasn’t very level, but otherwise nice and private. There was a sign at the back of my camp spot that said this area closed. I like the spots on the outer loop because of the privacy. There’s a store with a coin operated laundry and showers and also a gas pump. This park is so amazing and VAST!!

Chisos mountains
Our time was limited in big bend so we decided to go the Chisos Mountains. And it did not disappoint! It was like an oasis in the middle of the mountain range. Unfortunately we didn't get up early enough to find parking for the lost mine trail. (It's pretty limited so get there early!) But the window trail was very beautiful and a great hike. About half of the trail started to get shaded from the hills and trees as well, and felt very cool. I will admit there was a little fear of the mountain lions and bears, but the amazement of the park greatly outshined anything!

Pets are not allowed on trails.
Amazing place. Seems never ending at times. The beauty is breathtaking. We are making this a regular trip destination. We drive to Terlingua from Houston.

Much to explore and enjoy at Big Bend! We camped outside the park in Terlingua for 4 nights and then drove in and out. A hidden gem, outside the National park going north into the state park is a venture into Closed Canyon. Very cool

Went here on accident, and I’m so thankful I did! Expected to see the the BEND. But was rewarded with lovely desert and Mountain Views and a beautiful visitor center. Made the drive along the border, it’s bittersweet, thankfully untainted by the ugly walls at the border crossing areas.

One of the best parks. Went in December. Not too cold and was less crowded. Had Santa Elena Canyon and a few other trails to myself. Highly recommend Emory Peak and to take the drive down Ross Maxwell Drive to Sotol Vista for sunset.

Went in December, temperatures were comfortable with jeans, pullovers, vests. We took many hikes, horseback rides, and took photos everywhere. There wasn’t a lot of civilization, so we brought enough food, water for time there.

I was super excited to be able to stay here before the renovation. The sites were spacious and clean. The bathhouse was also very well kept up and clean. The park itself was absolutely amazing.

Chisos Basin Campground
Absolutely beautiful 4x4 drive to the campsite. The river was very low with lots of dead trees around it, especially near the campsite overlook, still a peaceful secluded spot to camp.
