Initially built in 1964, this restored L-shaped motel combines modern luxury with a retro twist, featuring 12 remodeled rooms and 4 private cabins faithful to their mid-century modern roots and 4 RV sites.
Start your day with a cup of coffee in the lounge with your fellow motorists while you plan your adventure with The SML Official Roadmap to the 290 Wine Trail. Hike at Enchanted Rock, ramble through historic Fredericksburg, grab a drink, and catch some live music in Luckenbach, or visit one of over 75 wineries, breweries, and distilleries only a short drive away. Finish up back at the motel for a glass of Hill Country wine on the 2nd floor Observation Deck, under the Texas stars.

- You can stay connected if you'd like to, as cell reception and wifi are both available on our property. Feel free to unplug during your stay though!
- The cabin is quite private, though you may see other visitors in passing during your stay.

Five cabins have a great view up to 40 miles off the back porch to the southeast for a magnificent sunrise! The Siesta and Milky Way Cabins have roof-top decks for viewing sunrises, and sunsets and are perfect for stargazing! All cabins are secluded and private. The cabins are spaced about 150 feet apart. While Carl worked behind the scenes in many areas of the hospitality industry and obtained a Certified Executive Chef designation, he now looks forward to playing in the kitchen for just a few family and friends. Most of all Carl enjoys meeting our guests coupled with the time he gets to spend with Rhonda! From our first tour of this unique property, Walnut Canyon Cabins, we continue to be amazed at how lucky we were to find this stunning place and with everyone who walks through our doors!We have 2 great boys, 2 incredible daughters-in-law, and two wonderful grandchildren.
