I love camping here, it is very peaceful, everything is clean and organized. Hollie and Davey are very nice and always checking on you. Favorite part their Director of guest services (their lovely dog Shasta) is beautiful and very friendly. I will keep coming here, totally worth it for a getaway camping.

We camped here on a cross country bike trip. Nice to be able to set up a tent and be so close to town. We didn’t have the chance to meet Sonya but David was very kind and welcoming to us.

The place is private, quiet, and the sounds of animals at night is very peaceful. Hosts are very respectful. I would definitely recommend if you need a place to rest for the night without hitting the wallet too hard.

1 night at CAMP JOY - RV / TENTS CALDWELL, TX

We loved staying at Camp Joy! The land was beautiful, the bathroom was clean and the shower was really nice. The view of the water from our tent was so beautiful and it was so peaceful. There is some road noise but it wasn't overbearing. An abundance of firewood was already provided at each campsite as well which was great! We did have a puppy come visit us that wandered onto the campsite from across the street. We didn't mind and he was super friendly. We actually really enjoyed the little guy, haha. We also saw the cat Duchess that lives on the property who was sweet as well. Overall it was a trip full of animals and beautiful views. Will definitely want to come again!

3 nights at Wild and Boujee Ranch

This was a nice spot with lots of open spaces, both up by the RV site and down by the river. We were close to Bastrop State Park and downtown Bastrop for shopping and restaurants. The new pad sites overlooked the river below. Please note that there are electrical hookups at the pads but water and sewer are by the front entrance of the property.

This was such a nice spot and we’d love to come back sometime! Todd was really responsive, reliable, and nice. You can tell that everything is really well taken care of and we felt really comfortable and safe there.

I loved the site. Just a short walk down the steps to the river. Thank you Paige for the kayak paddle. Cute spot at the river to put the kayak in, Not a big rivers edge if a lot of people are there at the same time but we enjoyed it as we were there all by ourselves. This would definitely be a GREAT place for a group. Again, Thank you Paige.

2 nights at Glat Austin at Lake Bastrop North Shore Park

The tent was in a perfect location with a beautiful view. The grounds have many areas for kids to play and lounging with shared tables, a rope hammock/bed and a dock to fish off of. The tent itself was comfortable and was equipped with much of what we needed. FRANCE had basic cooking utensils (bring tongs and a cutting board if needed) and comfortable bedding. Our kids were with us and on the reservation but extra linens weren't available for the couch or cot that was provided. We had extra so it wasn't a problem but just something to be aware of. The bathrooms were similar to those on the Southside. One room stalls with toilet, sink and then shower. Quick well lit walk from the tents. We stayed on the north side of the park and did all the loops and most of the hike to the south side. Very flat and kid friendly with lots of shade.

We really enjoyed staying on Hollie and Davey’s land. We were at RV Site 1. It was level, had plenty of room and had water and electric hookups. We were greeted by Shasta, a very friendly dog who also accompanied us on walks around the property. We liked the peace and quiet. We were near a road but rarely heard any traffic. They have other more remote sites but they didn’t have electricity. We were fine where we stayed. It was very a very relaxing place. I recommend it and would stay there again.

Firefly ranch is a must do! Amazing host! Beautiful land to camp on, plenty of privacy, great campfire pits, plenty of wildlife, no light pollution, and say hello to the amazing dogs out there! 😊 We are looking to come back when the fireflies are in season! 😊

Camping on Dave and Sarah’s land was a perfect blend of adventure and tranquility for my family. We spent the evenings gathered around a crackling campfire, roasting marshmallows under a sky bursting with stars. The kids loved exploring the wooded trails and open meadows, while my wife and I cherished the peaceful escape and meaningful conversations surrounded by nature.

Weekend Trip to Glat Austin at Lake Bastrop North Shore Park

We stayed in Glat #2. First night we didn't have hot water so that made for a cold shower after a long trip but they took care of it the next morning. Thank you Ghandi! In addition to the private shower you also have access to the park showers. In these tents (and their airstreams) you have all the necessities of a campsite without having to pitch a tent. We brought along our stove top burner and kitchen utensils such as a cutting board, knives and thongs and I'm glad we did because the ones provided were a bit worn. The park has a place to rent canoes or kayaks, many picnic areas, a couple fishing piers, a swimming area, and a 4 mile hike! We did the hike and boy was I glad we had that hot tub to soak in afterwards! All in all a great place to bring family and friends in the great outdoors. My only suggestion for our host is to add lighting around the outside sink, grill and dining area. Luckily we brought headlamps so it was easier to cook and eat outside now that the time change has us in the dark at 5pm!

If you love to fish, the greatest fishing lake in Texas is a few miles away near Somerville, TX called "Lake Somerville". It's a scenic drive to the Overlook Marina and Lake Somerville Dam. Several State Parks surround Lake Somerville, the closest from this location is "Birch Creek State Park" with beautiful hiking trails. Highly recommend the drive to check the Parks out. Also recommend visiting "Washington on the Brazos", the birthplace of Texas and is where the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed. It is also a State Park. The "Aggieland Wild Animal Safari" is outside of Bryan College Station and is a great place to take the kids to interact with all kinds of animals. Offers a drive-thru in which you can drive thru as many times as you want, as well as a petting zoo and gift shop. And, if you like shopping, there are lots of antique shops and wineries at Round Top, another scenic drive about 45 minutes away. And all the ice cream lovers must visit the home of "Blue Bell" in Brenham, TX which is only open to the public during the weekdays, not weekends. While in Brenham, kids love to skate at the historic "Silver Wings Ballroom", known as one of the best skating rinks in Texas! The Morris Manor and Retreat

Our property is meant to be calming, fun and relaxing. Camping with class is what we like to say. We are constantly upgrading our areas and property to be safe and entertaining. Our pond is charming and the focal point of the camping adventure. We have a paddle boat and an electric john boat to toodle around in. Want to go fishing? The pond is stocked with bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill and perch. There is also a small island we call “Angel Island” that you can fish from or just sit on the deck with your favorite beverage and enjoy the view. There is a riding/walking trail that is approximately 0.7 miles in distance and basically encompasses the perimeter of the back area. Walking is common, bikes are welcome and small 4 wheelers are also welcome. No side by sides please. You won’t be over crowded here as we currently only have 7 total camping sites. However, we do have enough property to accommodate large parties, reunions or any other type of get-togethers. Come see us and enjoy time away from the fast paced city! You might hear the sounds of the coyotes yipping in the night or perhaps one of the great horned owls calling out from a big oak tree. You may also see some deer, rabbits, squirrels and even armadillos. We are rustic but classy. Time to get away and relax! We also have a hike-and-bike, nature trail that offers a 360 loop around the property. We have a new construction Bath House on site for restroom needs w/ hot showers and composting potties plus a cold-water sink w/ non-potable water suited for washing produce, hands, dishes or camping gear.

The property borders a small creek and has abundant trees, and wildlife. Beautiful views from every vantage with a high field on one half of the property and a low bottom land near the creek where there are many options for a relaxing, private stay. Chose big sky or a more secluded spot. Incredible wildflowers on display in the spring. The property is not bordered by close neighbors or dense housing, just more land so sunsets and rises are wonderful and open. Low ambient light pollution at night means the stars are very bright (and so are the fireflies)! Guests are required to communicate estimated time of arrival well in advance. When arriving, make sure to meet Aaron or a designate at the red gate before entering further into the property. If tent camping, please do not bring glass containers, also you must pack out all garbage and waste. Inquire ahead of time to see if firewood is available to be gathered on site, or if you will need to bring your own. No uninvited guests without 24 hour prior approval, and additional guest fees paid. Also please no more than one dog per site.
