Our 300 acres has seen cattle and tobacco over the last century, and featured in the Christy book series in the early 1900's, before falling into neglect. Stories abound of moonshiners and cock fighters reveling in it's isolation.
Purchased with a dream in 2004 we have slowly recovered the original fields, and developed our own trails, linking in and out of the Cherokee National Forest.

Trout fishing less than two miles away. Ten minute drive to hot pizza, and 35 minute drive to town of Hot Springs - rent a hot tub, good local restaurants. Twenty minutes to nearest boat put-in on French Broad River. One hour from Dollywood, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

This is a very large private site with no other campers. We provide a large amount of firewood (bring something to split larger logs if desired). If you require more wood than supplied there will be an additional $25 charge. We also provide a fifty five gallon drum of water for washing and a five gallon container of drinking water. We have an outhouse that is sanitized prior to your arrival. You will have access to two swimming areas on Big creek where you can float or just take a dip and cool off. There is a small “Snack Shack” where you can purchase eggs, ice, candy and snacks. We are located at the foot of Rocky Top mountain with scenic trails accessible with off road vehicles or four wheel drive vehicles. Our location is phenomenal we are an hour from Knoxville and Asheville and just about 1/4 mile off I-40. Right at the foothills of the Smoky Mountains and 35 minutes from Gatlinburg about 40 minutes to Pigeon Forge (Dollywood), also about 45 minutes to Sevierville and one of my favorite Tanger Outlets!! The beautiful Smoky Mountains the National Park is filled with hiking trails and horse stables and trails. Some of the best white water rafting is less then 5 miles up the road along with zip lining and a lil taste of moonshine here and there.
This property is primitive with no electric and has a camping style bathhouse. IT’s recommended for outdoor lovers and people that are not too needy. Hurricane Helene brought unforecasted changes in the land but the tranquility of the River remains. We have worked to restore as much as we could. As for us it’s still our happy place in the Smoky Mountains!

Several trail heads are located there in the Greenbrier community including Brushy Mountain trail Old settlers trail (several old settlements can easily be found here) Porters Gap trail.

Our 300 acres has seen cattle and tobacco over the last century, and featured in the Christy book series in the early 1900's, before falling into neglect. Stories abound of moonshiners and cock fighters reveling in it's isolation.

This is a very large private site with no other campers. We provide a large amount of firewood (bring something to split larger logs if desired). If you require more wood than supplied there will be an additional $25 charge. We also provide a fifty five gallon drum of water for washing and a five gallon container of drinking water. We have an outhouse that is sanitized prior to your arrival. You will have access to two swimming areas on Big creek where you can float or just take a dip and cool off. There is a small “Snack Shack” where you can purchase eggs, ice, candy and snacks. Our location is phenomenal we are an hour from Knoxville and Asheville and just about 1/4 mile off I-40. Right at the foothills of the Smoky Mountains and 35 minutes from Gatlinburg about 40 minutes to Pigeon Forge (Dollywood), also about 45 minutes to Sevierville and one of my favorite Tanger Outlets!! The beautiful Smoky Mountains the National Park is filled with hiking trails and horse stables and trails. Some of the best white water rafting is less then 5 miles up the road along with zip lining and a lil taste of moonshine here and there.
This property is primitive with no electric and has a camping style bathhouse. IT’s recommended for outdoor lovers and people that are not too needy. Hurricane Helene brought unforecasted changes in the land but the tranquility of the River remains. We have worked to restore as much as we could. As for us it’s still our happy place in the Smoky Mountains!

Hilltop Site #5. Really pretty view. Close to a trail for a short hike to a beautiful 360 view of mountains. John and his family were extremely nice and communicative before and during stay. Really nice bathroom and easy access to firewood and ice. Only small things were a hourly rooster and the actual site has a slight angle to it, but neither came close to all the positives of our stay.

Sunset Ridge near Del Rio, TN is a true hidden gem perched high on a ridge with sweeping 50-mile western views of untouched American wilderness. From towering 6,000+ ft Smoky Mountain peaks to dense pine forests, deer, bears, and classic backwoods charm, this spot delivers the authentic mountain experience. Like many Hipcamp sites, you’ll drive through a few “interesting” areas to get there, but it’s absolutely worth the short detour off I-40. Hurricane Helen repair work continues in the region, so expect minor delays—but nothing that should deter your stay.
The site itself is well laid out with a reliable 50-AMP hookup (30-AMP rigs should bring an adapter), two properly placed sewer connections for easy access, and a well-pump water source offering around 15–20 psi. We found that perfectly adequate for daily use, or you can fill your onboard tank and enjoy a stronger 40–50 psi via your RV’s pump.
A cozy two-person swing overlooks the valley and is perfect for sunrise coffee or sunset photos. The spacious gravel circular driveway provides plenty of room for multiple vehicles and offers simple, level parking. Nights were peacefully quiet, with only the sounds of the woods around you. The paved road network above and around the property makes for great short hikes and even better sunset views. A firepit, available WiFi, and open sky complete the experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking solitude, scenery, and Smoky Mountain magic. We will definitely be back soon.

We had a need for an inexpensive site along our route and creek side fit the bill. The host was absolute incredible, and there is a cabin on site that we were allowed to use. Great experience! Mark was communicative from the start, suggesting directions it just for us coming from NC but also for our family coming from TN. He was super flexible when our arrival time changed, and even started a fire for us before we arrived!! (I mentioned sitting by the fire was s priority for us) The area is delightfully remote with creeks and a river and Mark's farm animals nearby. Highly recommended.
