Bug spray is highly encouraged during warmer months.

The Lowcountry is great for water sports, kayaking, boating, jet skiing, sailing, hiking and canoeing.
Each season offers an opportunity to participate in fishing, crabbing, shrimping or digging for oysters in local waters.
Our area is a favorite of cyclist groups, the long, flat, rural, scenic, roads offer pleasant riding experiences for cyclist of all ability levels.
There are bike lanes on many of the major roads.
Other recreational activities in our area are geocaching, horseback riding, tennis, golf, hiking, beach volleyball, beachcombing, and birdwatching.

At Heirloom Hamlet, you will see us designing unique, functional cottages, using solar energy, composting organics, sewing and reaping, in a way that is fair to our environment. We're bread baking, pasta making, timber milling, woodworking, clay-forming and metal pounding. The goal is to evolve into a small world of self-reliance and harmony with nature.
Through good design, our goal is to show just how "normal" slow, simple living can feel. We all have personal priorities, and those will vary greatly. But within that, we can all include ways of being respectfully mindful to the earth and to our neighbors.
Visiting with us, we sure hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to life here, that they can appreciate our perspectives and some of our old-fashioned ways. Our presentation at Heirloom Hamlet has been purposefully designed to be a refreshing hideaway from the norm. You can imagine, it has been a ton of work, sacrifice and expense to create a very special camp atmosphere. Go for a walk through the woods, do yoga, head to Hunting Island beach which is 10 miles or drive 3 miles to historic downtown Beaufort. We are also close to Parris Island and many other historical sites.
While here you can enjoy historical tours of Beaufort County’s earliest years of the Santa Helena colony in the mid 1600’s, the revolutionary war period, the pre-civil war and plantation time period and the antebellum, reconstruction history up to the Civil Rights visits of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Historic Penn Center.
The Lowcountry is great for water sports, kayaking, boating, jet skiing, sailing, hiking and canoeing.
Each season offers an opportunity to participate in fishing, crabbing, shrimping or digging for oysters in local waters.
Our area is a favorite of cyclist groups, the long, flat, rural, scenic, roads offer pleasant riding experiences for cyclist of all ability levels.
There are bike lanes on many of the major roads.
Other recreational activities in our area are geocaching, horseback riding, tennis, golf, hiking, beach volleyball, beachcombing, and birdwatching.
There are a few special events throughout the year, Gullah Festival-May, Water Festival-July, Shrimp Festival-October, Beaufort Food Truck Festival-October, Soft Shell Crab Festival-April, Pat Conroy Festival-November, Heritage Days Festival-November, Night on the Town-December.

At Heirloom Hamlet, you will see us designing unique, functional cottages, using solar energy, composting organics, sewing and reaping, in a way that is fair to our environment. We're bread baking, pasta making, timber milling, woodworking, clay-forming and metal pounding. The goal is to evolve into a small world of self-reliance and harmony with nature.
Through good design, our goal is to show just how "normal" slow, simple living can feel. We all have personal priorities, and those will vary greatly. But within that, we can all include ways of being respectfully mindful to the earth and to our neighbors.
Visiting with us, we sure hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to life here, that they can appreciate our perspectives and some of our old-fashioned ways. Our presentation at Heirloom Hamlet has been purposefully designed to be a refreshing hideaway from the norm. You can imagine, it has been a ton of work, sacrifice and expense to create a very special camp atmosphere. Any donation to show appreciation for its use, if even for a single night, is a valuable support to our efforts.

Black’s Fish Camp is a true treasure. James has thought of everything. The bathroom was clean and homey. There are picnic tables under the shelter with bistro lights along the river as well as a grill for cooking and water for cleanup. Fire pit at the river. James was very responsive with our questions. Nicole was responsive by message and then greeted us once we got situated. It had been a full day of rain so a bit muddy, but we found a dry spot to settle. Very quiet spot and the bathhouse was amazing with the best shower including a shower massager! Loved the baby goats, pot belly and chickens running around. We will definitely return as the location is perfect for travel from Virginia to Florida and back. Because it is so close to the highway-you can hear some traffic but inside our RV it was fine.

We had a great experience and highly recommend camping here. Curt was very responsive and helpful, and he sent clear instructions before our arrival. We arrived after dark, and he personally came over to help us get oriented to the property and its amenities.
He has done an incredible job. Every detail is not only well executed but truly artistic. Curt clearly cares about the experience and goes above and beyond with his hospitality.
For context, I spend over 100 nights a year in my camper van and have stayed in many places, and this was one of the best experiences we’ve had.
