3 nights at Camp on the Creek

Fran has a wonderful gorgeous spot, Stella her lab is a wonderful hostess also. I am a female solo camper and Fran was so nice to block off the other camp site so I’d feel alone and secure and have some time to myself. I spent a few days on her dock watching dolphins and fish jump. So much beautiful nature in abundance. The stars on the lake are magical and I found more mushrooms than I had seen in so long. Very beautiful place I would definitely recommend and plan to totally come back.

Weekend Trip to Blacks Fish Camp

Spent the weekend here. It was a nice tucked away little spot. Excellent for kayaking. Really nice that it isn't very far from Charleston. The bathroom was very clean and nice. Definitely recommend.

2 nights at Hanscombe Point Plantation

This place is incredible. If you are a comfortable primitive camper and you love natural beauty, book here immediately. In the two days I spent camping here, I spent hours watching the sun rise over the tidal creeks and the golden marsh grass. I watched hundreds of crabs feeding in the pluff mud before the tide came in. I watched cattle graze on a great open pasture. I’ve camped in some pretty breathtaking places and this was up there with the best. The campground feels remote but Charleston and other barrier islands d destinations are very accessible. Check in couldn’t be easier, firewood was abundant, and I was left alone for two days. I’d come back here in a heartbeat. In fact, I think I will.

Easy in and out. Was quiet and a pretty morning. Got in late after coming earlier in day to secure a site near the water. Not a place with immense creature comforts, but affordable and easy to work with. Also 30 min from beach… 25 from downtown.

I had the most beautiful first camping experience thanks to Kurt. From the moment we arrived, he welcomed us with such warmth and genuine care, it truly felt like visiting an old friend. He’s someone who genuinely cares, and that’s rare to find these days. His wealth of knowledge is inspiring, and his deep love for off-the-grid living shines through in everything he does. Even more special is how openly and generously he shares that passion with others. To top it all off, after we returned home and realized we had left our laptop bag at a local coffee shop, Kurt didn’t hesitate to pick it up and ship it back to us without a second thought. That level of kindness is special. We’re so grateful for the experience and can’t recommend Kurt’s hospitality enough. Truly unforgettable!

What stood out the most was Curt’s hospitality. He was so welcoming and friendly. He definitely went the extra mile to make sure we were enjoying our stay. The bath house was such a unique experience and extremely clean. And our dog was welcomed as well which is such a great feeling. Would definitely stay here again if we are in the area again. Other than Curt being a tad behind on the mowing 😂 10/10

Great, secluded spot. Good clean outhouse. It is primitive, so no running water, which is definitely not a problem ifyou come prepared. The road to the sites is fine, but you will be better suited in an SUV than a sedan/coup. We went while it was raining, and I don't think I would have made it in my Honda. Luckily, we didn't have it!!! Anyway, beautiful spot. The birds are awesome in the morning. Good communication from the host.

We had an absolute blast, and Dustin pays attention to every detail. The Stone fire pit was fantastic, the screened in gazebo with TV and couch was also quite comfortable, especially in the rain. The bathroom was spotless and the outdoor shower was rustic and fun.

What a beautiful spot. So quiet, peaceful, private. The facilities truly are luxurious, the bathroom and shower areas are spotless. Dustin is an amazing host, replied quickly when I had a couple of questions. We would have stayed longer but the weather was just too hot for camping in our rooftop tent. We did enjoy the screened gazebo with a ceiling fan in the evening, perfect for a hot summer night!

Great site in a beautiful place close to Charleston and Folly beach. Plenty to do within just minutes as well. There was some broken glass scattered around the site and the sites were a little close together for my personal liking but it was great! Loved everything about our weekend

Why buy a home when you can build a fairytale? Hi, I'm Curt. My wife Ani, son Fitch, and I are your average, everyday nonconformists who have been running an experiment. We are trying to figure out if a family can use their own hands and some grit to handcraft a life that you don't need a vacation from. Or better yet, that you would vacation to. Have we done that? You be the judge. About 4 years ago we left our South Florida handcrafting furniture business to pursue this new goal. We set out to build an inspiring experience in simple, eco-friendly living that would find a harmony between some of the old fashioned world that we'd found ourselves missing, and the handful of modern advancements that were actually beneficial. All while keeping it classy. At Heirloom Hamlet, you will see us designing unique, functional cabins, installing solar, composting, planting, and building toilets that are better for our environment. We're bread baking, pasta making, timber milling, woodworking, clay-forming and metal pounding. The goal is to evolve into a small world of self-reliance and harmony with nature. Ani and I are big believers in being mindful and respectful of our environment wherever reasonable. So, we are incorporating both alternative and municipal utilities as they can fit into our homestead design and limited budget. Through good design, our goal is to show just how "normal" small living can feel. We all have personal priorities and those will vary greatly, and that's okay. But no person should be so self-absorbed that we have completely shut out the importance of being respectfully mindful to the earth and to our fellowman. After all, if we don't have that, what do we have? To be completely transparent, though, the creatives in us also would like it if we inspired onlookers to possibly look at their own space and life a little bit differently. We've personally found it to be so fulfilling to distinguish real desires and needs from the ones we've been groomed to pursue, and then work to make them a reality. We've found it energizing to witness our fellowmen and women pursuing a dream. We'd like to be a stimulating memory along any person's journey. Visiting with us, we sure hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to life here, and that they can appreciate some of our old-fashioned ways. That, as our paths cross, we won't be held to a business-first standard that we have worked hard to remove ourselves from. We realize everyone has a right to be themselves, but our presentation at Heirloom Hamlet has been purposefully designed to be a refreshing hideaway from the norm.

As the day winds down to an end you can relax by a campfire or just head inside and kick back and watch a movie from the library of dvd's that are available. Edenhope Farms is nestled on 6 acres and is a sanctuary for rescued and unique animals. We have a Zebu bull, which are the oldest recorded bovine in history, dating back to the Bible. We have goats and peacocks, chickens, a potbellied pig, rescued squirrels, and rescued ducks. Soon to come.... Sheep!!! My property used to be the disposal site for the CocaCola bottling Company. Go on a scavenger hunt and find old bottles. Relax around the fire pit and listen to owls, wild geese, bull frogs and the Quack Pack. Lounge on the spacious deck overlooking all the farm animals or take a dip in the swimming pool. At night grill on the BBQ or have an oyster roast. We do have an indoor toilet for you to use and an outdoor shower. Go for a walk through the woods, do yoga, head to Hunting Island beach which is 10 miles or drive 3 miles to historic downtown Beaufort. We are also close to Parris Island and many other historical sites. While here you can enjoy historical tours of Beaufort County’s earliest years of the Santa Helena colony in the mid 1600’s, the revolutionary war period, the pre-civil war and plantation time period and the antebellum, reconstruction history up to the Civil Rights visits of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Historic Penn Center. The Lowcountry is great for water sports, kayaking, boating, jet skiing, sailing, hiking and canoeing. Each season offers an opportunity to participate in fishing, crabbing, shrimping or digging for oysters in local waters. Our area is a favorite of cyclist groups, the long, flat, rural, scenic, roads offer pleasant riding experiences for cyclist of all ability levels. There are bike lanes on many of the major roads. Other recreational activities in our area are geocaching, horseback riding, tennis, golf, hiking, beach volleyball, beachcombing, and birdwatching. There are a few special events throughout the year, Gullah Festival-May, Water Festival-July, Shrimp Festival-October, Beaufort Food Truck Festival-October, Soft Shell Crab Festival-April, Pat Conroy Festival-November, Heritage Days Festival-November, Night on the Town-December. There’s something for everyone. COME VISIT!!!
