Our present project is building a luxury bathhouse ( still being framed now ) right now guests have access to the Bathroom & Kitchen of the old farm house ( built in 1903 ) We are close to Columbia ( 30 minutes ) for a nice trip to the zoo or a float down the Saluda River with Adventure Carolina or a visit to Soda City Market which is Columbia’s weekly Main Street event inspired by traditional European street markets open every Saturday morning 9 a.m. –1 p.m., year-round, rain or shine! Too Many Oaks is a perfect mix of nice and quiet but still close to town. Also just in Synchronous fireflies, which are fireflies that gather and flash their lights at the same time as part of a mating ritual, are expected to light up the Congaree National Park in May. Check with the park for details.

My wife Ani, son Fitch, and I are average, everyday nonconformists who have been running an experiment. We'd noticed as we evolved that we felt generally unfulfilled by the direction society had gone. That our biology and our brain's wiring just didn't naturally mesh when forced to blend with the masses. We had come to learn that we are far from alone, and that made us feel a little less weird. Still, we thought the answer called for more, maybe even drastic action if we could muster the courage. We were thinking a full retreat and redesign, but had very little resources. Can a family use their own minds and hands, with some grit, to handcraft a home and life that felt right? That they didn't even want to vacation from? I don't know, but we decided to try. We still are. Have we done it? You be the judge. In 2019 right before the pandemic, we left our Miami handcrafted furniture business to pursue this new goal. A project in practicality and passion. We set out to build an inspiring experience in simple, eco-friendly living and find a harmony between the helpful aspects of the modern world and the good parts of the old, that maybe society should have held tight to. We wanted to play with this idea...all while keeping it classy ;-) At Heirloom Hamlet, you will see us designing unique, functional cottages, using solar energy, composting organics, sewing and reaping, in a way that is fair to our environment. We're bread baking, pasta making, timber milling, woodworking, clay-forming and metal pounding. The goal is to evolve into a small world of self-reliance and harmony with nature. Through good design, our goal is to show just how "normal" slow, simple living can feel. We all have personal priorities, and those will vary greatly. But within that, we can all include ways of being respectfully mindful to the earth and to our neighbors. Visiting with us, we sure hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to life here, that they can appreciate our perspectives and some of our old-fashioned ways. Our presentation at Heirloom Hamlet has been purposefully designed to be a refreshing hideaway from the norm. Please Note: Because our land is adjacent to a forest and features a natural, undeveloped landscape—including local wildlife, insects, and natural terrain—we want to ensure everyone understands their responsibilities for staying here, before booking. We loved this place! We had spot 4 that was secluded and private. Easy access to the water. Firepit, chairs, and picnic table are great. Quiet and peaceful. We were self contained in our van so didn’t need to use the restroom but did grab a shower on the way out. Next time will get firewood and eggs!

2 nights at TRAIL MAGIC

So the short hike is uphill, be prepared for that but it is worth it. The space is beautiful and currently decorated for halloween. The hosts were incredible and super sweet. The area was clean and full of wild life so if you love little critters this one is for you. From hummingbirds to geckos, i was both in heaven and the campfire set up comes with a grill that you can space up to cook whatever you like. If you love roughing it without the hassle of bringing your own furniture this spot is amazing and seemingly straight out of an enchanted garden. Not to mention lake jocassee is just a 10 minute drive straight down the road. Don’t miss this spot if you get the chance!!! Ps bring a cooler with wheels or a wagon for longer trips!

Weekend Trip to Serenity on the Saluda

We had a fantastic stay! The campsite was clean, quiet, and well cared for. The host was incredibly friendly, and when we purchased firewood, it was delivered right to our site before we arrived, which was a great touch. We rented both the canoe and kayak and had an amazing time on the river. The swimming was perfect, and the peaceful setting made it easy to relax and disconnect. The river access is a little steep, so if you're not part mountain goat, bring a rope to tie off to a tree for a little extra assistance getting in and out. Also worth mentioning: this was hands-down the cleanest outhouse I've ever used. The only thing I'd suggest is a small solar light inside. With the door closed, it's pitch black even during the day, so definitely bring a flashlight if nature calls. The only interruption to the peaceful quiet was what we think was a red fox that unleashed an absolutely terrifying scream in the middle of the night. We went from deep sleep to wondering if we were starring in a horror movie in about two seconds! 😆 It definitely got our hearts pumping. Overall, a beautiful, peaceful riverside campsite with a wonderful host, great paddling, refreshing swimming, and a memorable wildlife experience thrown in for free. We'd absolutely stay again!

Palm Corner is located on the Southeast corner of the property. Its the flattest marsh front area.

Experienced RV-er said this was their best site ever. I didn't have anymore full hook up sites available and told them they could try it. I was surprised to see this rig in place. Owner said it was no problem getting in or getting out. They loved it!

Great campground with lots of things to do for our grandkids. Reasonably priced and easily accessible just off of I85. Some campsites are very shaded. It’s not your KOA with proctors watching and correcting continuously. It’s a family friendly campground and we are making plans to go again.
