The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night. Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October (say 'hi' to Jim). In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be.

In 2015 we purchased the perfect piece of property, after realizing how badly we needed an escape from NYC. We camped here ourselves for the next few years, enjoying the land in every season. In 2018 we built a home. Now we can't wait to share the land with others! PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION BELOW. Sixty acres of magical trees, a one acre pond, and a three acre field. From the road there is a two hundred foot elevation gain to the top of the hill. Along the way are several hundred feet of rock ledges, caves, and critters. Most of the land is sloping, but the hilltop is flat as a table, with prehistoric-looking ferns under a dense canopy of mature trees. The campsites are ultra secluded- about a quarter mile apart from each other. All sites include a fire pit, cooking grate, picnic table, and sites 2&3 have platforms. Camp One is on the top of the hill, and a small car can be driven to within 150 feet of it. It is pretty flat, and surrounded by blackberry bushes, ferns, and trees. Camp Two is on a bluff overlooking a picturesque swamp, filled with hemlock trees and ferns. This site can not be driven to with anything less than a high clearance SUV, so I consider it a hike in site. It is a ten minute walk from the pond and parking lot, but the view and feel is worth it. (It has been brought to our attention that there is occasionally a group riding atvs on a neighboring property that are audible from this site. We have no control over what time it happens, so please keep this in mind) Camp Three is accessible with a four wheel drive vehicle, something at least as high as an SUV. It is the closest to the house and pond, but still far enough to feel secluded and completely private. If you choose to walk there, it’s only a couple minutes from the parking area. Throughout the property, there are many quiet places to hang out, flat spots to do yoga, trails to explore, and fishing and swimming in the beautiful pond. River Mountain Outdoors

The history of the Pump House began in 1878, when three ambitious men hatched a plan for the world's first long-distance underground oil pipeline which would transport oil from well to refinery more quickly and efficiently than the horse-drawn wagons of the time. Pumping stations were needed every fifty miles along this long route to keep pressure on the pipeline so that the oil could reach its destination. Pump House Bed and Breakfast is one of the only properties in the country in which the both the original homes of the foremen and the large brick buildings remain. Doug, owner, has spent more than 20 years lovingly restoring these foreman houses as well as the large industrial brick buildings. The Brick Barn Hall once housed steam pumps to pressurize the pipe and keep the oil moving, and the Catawissa Cabin behind it served as the telegraph office. The Studio Hall contained boilers that produced the steam to power the pumps, while the adjoining Studio Cabin functioned as a blacksmith's workspace. Today, the buildings function as reception spaces for weddings and other special events, and house private suites as well as an art studio where Doug pursues his work and teaches drawing, ceramics, and stained glass classes. The Season House, one of the two foreman homes, features additional guest accommodations while Doug resides in the other foreman house. Visit and experience a piece of PA history! Sunshine Ranch Camp

We're located on 17 acres with a beautiful creek running through the property. This is a single site, so you'll have the whole place to yourself. You can drive your vehicle to the site just by driving up the left side of the yard to the entrance of the main trail for about .25 miles. There is an open area the right of the driveway where you're welcome to park if you don't feel comfortable driving back there. Our property is surrounded by trees, ferns, and is extremely private. Take one of the trails down to the river where you can hang out and dip your toes. Lots of frogs, salamanders, and minnows. The property has 5 different hiking trails along the creek for you to explore. Your site will come with a firepit close to the creek, as well as a complimentary bundle of wood from the stack in the yard on your way back to the fire pit. There is a bunch of sticks and logs by the fire pit and all over the woods that you are welcome to burn. Bring your pets! We're dog friendly and they can party off leash. This location is basically your own private state park. We are about 10-13 minutes from exit 12 and exit 4 on rt 80. We're very close to the Lakota Wolf Preserve where you can see wolves and coyotes. We're 15 minutes to the Delaware Water Gap. The Delaware Water Gap is a water gap on the border of the U.S. states of New Jersey and Pennsylvania where the Delaware River cuts through a large ridge of the Appalachian Mountains. We're also close to the Worthington State Forest, which has more than 6,400 acres for you to explore. We're also near Jenny Jump State Park. Van Campens Glenn, Buttermilk Falls, Bushkill falls, Mt Tammany via red dot trail, Sunfish Pond, Dunfield Creek, Ghost Lake, Jenny Jump, Catfish Station Fire Tower, Swartswood Lake, white lake, Paulinskill river, are some recommendations. Locally, there's Blairstown Dairy, which has delicious homemade ice cream. There is also a grocery store (Acme) and restaurants nearby. Races Farmers Market is right down the street open everyday 9-5. Buckhill Brewery, Brook Hollow Winery, Alpine Butcher, and Blairstown Airport (Airport Cafe) are all less than 10 minutes away. This is also where Friday the 13th was filmed! Lots of wildlife. Please be mindful of your surroundings.

Twin Oaks

This campsite provides a great location to use as a base for day hikes. The tent site is situated beneath a canopy of two large Red Oak trees. This property was formerly a farm and has since grown back to a pioneer Hardwood Forest. There are stone rows throughout the farm and some areas that have been cleared of invasive vegetation and planted with native grasses to enhance the deer population. We suggest day hikes such as Catfish Fire Tower, Van Campen's Glen, and Buttermilk Falls. Here's a list of our recommendations for hiking, fishing, and just plain old exploring: The Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area (DWG) and nearby Walpack Fish and Wildlife Management Area in Layton have many hiking trails (See the National Park Service's website). Great areas for sightseeing, hiking, biking, fishing, hunting. Buttermilk Falls, (find the trailhead on) Mountain Road in Layton. Hike to the top of the beautiful waterfalls near Walpack and take a 6.8 mile loop trail to Crater Lake. Walpack Inn, National Park Service Rd 615, Layton. A beautiful restaurant with an entire back wall of windows with a view of the Kittatinny Valley. The Walpack is open on weekends for dinner only. Appalachian Trail (AT). Check out the AMC Mohican Outdoor Center located along the trail in Blairstown. The AT runs through the DWG. Offers hiking and sightseeing. Long Pine Pond & Crater Lake in Walpack. Both are spring fed and great for swimming and boating (clear water). Van Campen's Glen, Old Mine Road, Hardwick. The 2.1 mile loop trail features several cascades and waterfalls, a narrow stone valley, and a lush hemlock ravine. Catfish Fire Tower, Millbrook Road, Hardwick. A rocky 2.0 or longer 4.4 mile hike to the top of the ridge. Great views on NJ and PA. Also check out "Hiking Our Preserves" on the Ridge and Valley Conservancy's website for information on 4 local hiking trails. Delaware River- Great for swimming, boating, tubing, canoeing, fishing. Keep your eye out for Bald Eagles! White Lake - 97 Stillwater Rd. Hardwick, NJ 07825. The Paulinskill (Blairstown) and FlatBrook (Old Mine Road, Hardwick) rivers are local spots for trout fishing. On Saturdays during the summer, you may want to try out the Blairstown Farmers Market on Stillwater Road. Hours 9:30 to 1:00 pm.

Our 2 sites are located on the Southern slope of Scrub Mountain at an elevation of 1473 ft, in the Bear Creek Drainage area a beautiful and rugged tributary to the Lehigh River Our 2 Tent campsites are completely landscaped and contain all basic amenities such as water, electric, stone fire rings, with tables and chairs.The property is completely wooded secluded and quiet however the property is frequented by potentially dangerous wildlife such as bears coyotes and rattlesnakes. Guests are given a brief orientation upon arrival as to potential dangers and basic rules. To protect our guests our property is video monitored with night vision cameras and perimeter sensing alarms which are activated after dark which alert the hosts to any potential unwelcome trespassers crossing over the perimeter. Our location is a great base camp for those outdoor adventurers looking to explore the Lehigh River Gorge, Hickory Run State Park, SGL#141 and other natural attractions of Carbon County, PA. Our property provides convenient access to many outdoor activities such as Whitewater Rafting, on the famous and scenic Lehigh River. Mountain Biking on the Lehigh Gorge Trail, Day Hiking to scenic vistas and we are within short driving distance of several Scenic Waterfalls. Our prize possession is the outstanding trout fishing in the Lehigh River and it's numerous tributaries, all of which have good populations of Native Brook Trout, Wild Brown Trout and wild and stocked Rainbow Trout as well as many other cold water fish species. Our location further provides top notch wildlife viewing and photography on our private property you are highly likely to encounter black bears, coyotes, whitetail deer, wild turkey and even an occasional mountain lion, as well as many other various other game species. For you bird watchers this part of the Poconos has an exceptional population of wild birds some very rare. Sunshine Ranch Camp

We're located on 17 acres with a beautiful creek running through the property. This is a single site, so you'll have the whole place to yourself. You can drive your vehicle to the site just by driving up the left side of the yard to the entrance of the main trail for about .25 miles. There is an open area the right of the driveway where you're welcome to park if you don't feel comfortable driving back there. Our property is surrounded by trees, ferns, and is extremely private. Take one of the trails down to the river where you can hang out and dip your toes. Lots of frogs, salamanders, and minnows. The property has 5 different hiking trails along the creek for you to explore. Your site will come with a firepit close to the creek, as well as a complimentary bundle of wood from the stack in the yard on your way back to the fire pit. There is a bunch of sticks and logs by the fire pit and all over the woods that you are welcome to burn. Bring your pets! We're dog friendly and they can party off leash. This location is basically your own private state park. We are about 10-13 minutes from exit 12 and exit 4 on rt 80. We're very close to the Lakota Wolf Preserve where you can see wolves and coyotes. We're 15 minutes to the Delaware Water Gap. The Delaware Water Gap is a water gap on the border of the U.S. states of New Jersey and Pennsylvania where the Delaware River cuts through a large ridge of the Appalachian Mountains. We're also close to the Worthington State Forest, which has more than 6,400 acres for you to explore. We're also near Jenny Jump State Park. Van Campens Glenn, Buttermilk Falls, Bushkill falls, Mt Tammany via red dot trail, Sunfish Pond, Dunfield Creek, Ghost Lake, Jenny Jump, Catfish Station Fire Tower, Swartswood Lake, white lake, Paulinskill river, are some recommendations. Locally, there's Blairstown Dairy, which has delicious homemade ice cream. There is also a grocery store (Acme) and restaurants nearby. Races Farmers Market is right down the street open everyday 9-5. Buckhill Brewery, Brook Hollow Winery, Alpine Butcher, and Blairstown Airport (Airport Cafe) are all less than 10 minutes away.
