Taneytown, 1836, has an extraordinary antique store that is a delight to browse; as well as fine dining, drive through, an open air beer garden and close by grocery stores. Homemade ice cream is found at Baugher's and Hoffmans in Westminster. Baugher's Orchard has "pick your own" available. There is a mini farm animal petting zoo at the orchard.

About Tyme Farm is a 26 plus acre privately owned farm used for crops such as corn, soy beans and sunflowers. The property includes a 150+ year old stone farm house, large historic barn on the barn quilt tour in Carroll County, renovated camping cabin for those not into rough camping, fields, streams , woods for hiking, plenty of wild life and lots of quiet. The farm is surrounded by other farms in the agricultural preservation program yet you are only 5 miles from stores, movies, antiques and other aspects of civilization or entertainment if needed. Enjoy watching the deer come out of the woods and meander along the stream and fields at dusk and return in the morning. Electric, water, fire pit and a Port a Pot is available even for rough campers. Pets welcome but must be on a leash or exercise pen or with their owners in some way while here for their safety. There is a large fenced yard for dogs that just have to run if needed. Glamorous camping with a furnished heated/cooled cabin is available for rent by the night for those who do not have camping equipment or do not want to rough it. For those that have been camping before and have all the equipment there is plenty of room for a tent or camper near the buildings or by the stream or woods. For RV owners there is 50amp electric service in the barn. You will need an RV extension cord to access it. I have a 100 ft RV ext. cord but it can be farther than that depending on where you park. Bring one of your own to be sure. It is a farm and not set up like an RV park with numerous outlets.

Hawkwood Farm is a historic property in the Catoctin Mountains. The house dates back to 1803. At that time, it is documented that there was a blacksmith shop on the property. There is a functioning blacksmith shop today, as well as an expansive wood working shop. A ;band of rhyolite runs through the property that was used by Native Americans for spear points dating back to the paleolithic period. Nathan & his family welcomed us to their farm. The spot included electrical hook up, a fire pit & firewood. The farm is beautiful! Make sure to visit the distillery. Nathan will teach you a little about their family business. I walked up to the onsite cemetery. The view from up there was stunning. Hope to get to stay with Nathan & his family again in the future. Where do I even begin! Nate and his crew were absolutely fantastic hosts!! I was not expecting the level of hospitality that they showed us, and we are beyond grateful! The camper was perfect, and the property was beautiful. My wife and son each caught fish in the pond, and my daughter fell in love with the barn cats. Nate's "night cap tour" of his distillery was fantastic and the care he takes in raising his corn and distilling his spirits shines through. I can't speak highly enough about how wonderful the entire experience was and my entire family can't wait to come back!

We spent the weekend at Tam's farm as a get away from Baltimore city hustle and bustle. Our family is 2 adults and 2 kiddos (2yo and 5yo).
We had a wonderful, relaxing, and quiet weekend. Tam's homestead has everything we needed: activities for the kiddos like a tire swing, crafts, and a "horse," chickens to feed, and a sweet old dog and cats. The adults had a great time relaxing in the soft grass, enjoying the sunset and making fajitas over the fire pit. We spent Saturday morning relaxing and Saturday afternoon at a creamery nearby, visiting amazing vistas, and swimming in Cunningham Falls state park, all within a short drive.
Tam's property is beautiful and historic and gives a little insight in how farm life felt back in the 1800s.
Tam is such a great host - we could tell she's a seasoned hip camp host- and helped us with anything we needed including hot water for our coffee and cream and sugar. Tam goes the extra mile for her guests and it shows that she cares about her guests' stay.
If you're looking for a relaxing trip away from the city, close to beautiful nature and state parks, comfy beds and sweet old dog, Tam is your girl.

Had a great stay. This was a last-minute day-of booking and Candice was super communicative and accommodating. She gave me instructions on how exactly to access the campsite so that I would be comfortable finding it since she was away from the property when I arrived. The site itself was large and open with plenty of space for tents and two great hammock spots. I enjoyed the creek, sitting in the bench by the pond, and hanging out with the farm animals. Candice even offered access to a kitchen and indoor barn area in case the weather turned. Clean porta-potty was located near the campsite. Would definitely stay again.

bird activity! There’s a rough path through the grass down to the river bank. Caught a few smallmouth bass and a fallfish. Driving through the creek was fun, there are some decent ruts on the path but we had no issues crossing in a Subaru Outback.
