The main town serving Crook County and the Ochoco National Forest, Prineville is both a good place to stock up on supplies and a decent base for exploring central and eastern Oregon. There are plenty of private RV parks and campgrounds in and around town, and Prineville Reservoir State Park just south of the city has a few dozen full hook-up sites and electrical sites that you can reserve up to six months in advance through Oregon State Parks. We have 2.5 acres surrounded by sage and rabbitbrush, bunchgrass and juniper trees. My partner and I live on the property along with our dog, cats and chickens. In addition, you will most likely witness cottontails, deer, and quail, as well as many bird species. At night, you may be lucky enough to be serenaded by local coyotes and owls. We are located atop a peninsula straddled by the Deschutes and Crooked river canyons, with access to golfing, hiking, biking, fishing, climbing and kayaking just minutes away! We are also a short 20 minute drive to Smith Rock , 35 minutes to Lake Billy Chinook, and 40 minutes from Bend or Sisters. There is a small trading post in the canyon with gas, limited groceries and made to order sandwiches. For dining, there is a local tap house with food trucks, and a restaurant and bar on the golf course. We offer water and 50 amp electric. If a fire ban is not in effect, we have a fire pit for your use. Enjoy your morning coffee in the sunshine at our bistro table, listening to the birds chirp. Please respect our privacy and do not enter the fenced yard. We are happy to provide information and recommendations on the area, but if you would prefer zero contact we can accommodate that as well! When available, we can offer split firewood, beer and fresh eggs for sale!  Also, our home is located next to one neighbor to the south, the local fire station to the north, and 185 acres of rangeland to the west, on a paved road.  One can, at times feel totally alone, while other times, the local pickups and harley davidson's like to be heard.  We appreciate where we live and want to share that with you!

I wanted a peaceful place to call home. I found this property after a long search with a very patient and kind realtor. I fell in love with it almost immediately. The ponds bring wonderful wildlife that I enjoy watching and listening to….birds, frogs and many other animals. I wanted a property where I could have space to have horses or other farm animals if I chose to. I have not chosen to acquire them as of yet, but I like having the option. I love sharing this spot with others. The stars are incredibly brighter than most places and there is very little noise pollution as well. I call it my Little Desert Oasis. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Learn more about this land:I offer Standard RV plug in electricity and water. Sorry no toilet facilities at all. So you must have your own self-contained bathroom set up in your rig. No tent camping is it allowed. Trailers and vans with toilet are a perfect fit. It feels like country out here with horses, sheep llamas etc. small farms all around. Yet close to town,  just a mile away from Highway 97 and about 3 miles away from Highway 20 near Tumalo. I think you will find the location convenient as it is only 15 minutes from the Redmond Airport, about 20 minutes to Sisters Oregon and downtown Bend is an easy 8 mile drive.There are pretty views of ponds joined by a creek and small waterfalls. The water features attract lots of wildlife! You will likely see deer, wild ducks, quail, hawks and many other types of birds. I even had a duck build a nest next to the pond last year and hatch a clutch of ducklings. There are several small Aspen trees and old junipers near the campsite next to the ponds. If the night sky and stars don’t take your breath away, the frogs will surely serenade you to sleep! There is a little view of the mountains as well. The site is centrally located for easy access to Highway 24 Highway 97. Trader Joe’s, Food 4 Less, Target, Starbucks and a outdoor shopping malls are only 5 miles away. Numerous restaurants are also only 5 miles from the home. There are more than a half a dozen breweries within 8 miles and 45 minutes to Mount Bachelor. The quaint little town of Tumalo is only 3 miles down the road. There you will find a cool taproom (The Bite) with outdoor seating, corn hole and yummy food carts. In addition, there is a great pizza joint and Tumalo Cider Bar. Tumalo State Park is less than 5 miles away. Riley Ranch Nature Preserve is also less than 5 miles away and well worth the trip!

This was a nice place to stay. The day we got there, the owner showed up, showed us around and we were left alone after that. I appreciated that. The site itself is nice. There are a few good places to put up a tent, but I ended up sleeping in the tipi, which was plenty comfortable and more roomy than my tent. It got down in the low 20s two of the nights we were there, but it kept the wind (and a bit of rain) off nicely. The camp site sits across a small bridge and down a hill. It's not a long walk by any means, maybe 30-50 feet? But it was nice being able to ride our motorcycles down and park down there. I'll definitely be adding this place to my roster of camping places.

Great camping! It's the most expansive campsite I've ever experienced. You can take a nice little hike for a better view of the nearby gorge, visit some curious horses, and enjoy the sound of ranch life all around you. The views of Sisters and Mt. Jefferson are to die for...Host Sharon is really friendly and attentive. Camping area contains various small rocks handy for weighing tarps, tents and other items down. But if you're balance challenged like I am, watch your footing and wear good shoes.

Do you remember how delightful it is to walk barefoot on a cool, green lawn? Well, you'll be able to reminisce on the beautiful, green grass that abuts Lot 1 (Doe) at Chester's Hipcamp. Additionally, there is a BBQ, fire pit and water, electricity and sewer hookups at the site. Do remember to bring a 'dogbone' adapter if you have a 30amp shore power line. Conveniently located 5 or so miles from Smith Rock State Park, the site is both quiet and not too far from Redmond.

Mckenzie has put a lot of thought and effort into his ranch and offering a comfortable, welcoming experience. The land itself is beautiful. The ranch dogs are a super bonus! We had a lovely stay and would not hesitate to book again if we come his way.
