The Whiskey Run mountain bike trails are a short drive away and are truly world-class trails. The Sunset Bay State Park has a huge trail network that spans the cliff line all the way from Sunset Bay to Cape Arago. Chuck’s Seafood in Charleston is a great spot to pick up local seafood. BBQ some oysters on the grill or pick up some fresh fish and enjoy the bounty of the coast. Cornerstone Ranch is a pristine Ranch of about 500 acres on the Rogue River and against the Pacific Ocean offering too many experiences to count. You can even bring your horse... FYI, Hipcamps map for site locations is not correct. Two go next to the driveway and the other four follow the creek. From the South GPS is very accurate to our driveway. Coming from the North, GPS may drop you a few driveways away as that is the property line. Keep driving about another 1/8th mile until you see the large red "Cornerstone Ranch" sign. That is our driveway. Welcome... The ranch offers 6 different campsites. Campfires are allowed (outside of burn bans), and there is a toilet in off season and Port-A-Potties during the summer on site as well. Reviews from guests: "During the night we could hear Elk and the nearby nature! When we woke up we got to visit with the horses, use the really clean port-potty, and chat with Bonnie and Chris the Hosts. They have tons of recommendations, but our favorite was the Indian creek cafe across the river. The areas so great and clean and the host cares about their guests! Would recommend!"

This campsite lies about 1 mile from the pacific ocean at about 15 feet elevation so it will be cooler than inland camp sites. I believe we are the closest camping to the south side of the Blacklock Hiking Trails. Also next to the Cape Blanco State Airport. (call if you want to fly in and get transport to and from the campsite). Access Road is a single lane in and out (gravel, dirt, and grass). Any towed trailers need to be pulled by a 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicle to climb back out (in and out procedures for trailers will be provided) Bring a fishing pole or a kayak. Sea-run trout are in the river during the summer (no motorized vehicles allowed in the Sixes River by law. No motorized vehicles in campsite besides automobiles by rule.) - Please be accurate with the number of guests in your party. Please note about lack of signage: The "walters landing" and "92220" on airport road are the only markings to indicate our entrance. So peaceful and beautiful! The porta-potty was extra clean. We were only able to stay one night but hopefully we can come back for a longer visit soon. We were escorted out by about 2 dozen cows which was the perfect end to a lovely night and morning.

Weekend Trip to Sunset Bay Meadows

Tim's place was absolutely amazing, the endless possibilities and beautiful sounds and views 😍 we will be back. The sites where way bigger than we expected, we had plenty of room for all of us. It was so nice. We could hear the Elk and sea lions all night and the morning before we left we seen some whales just a couple of minutes down the road. It was an experience.

2nd stay here ! Easy beautiful close to the ocean and beach shore ! It’s the epitome of “hip camp” ! Thank you again we’ll be back . Great location to access Whiskey Run mountain bike trails . About 20 minutes drive . Charlatan is the closest town - Millers Cove - crab Louie Salad ! Coffee on the corner and Davey homes locker if you forgot anything ! Thanks for sharing your slice of paradise!

The most amazing view to wake up to! Our 1 year old son had a blast roaming around the site and watching fishing boats on the river. Nicole and Brian were so welcoming and helpful! 10/10 recommend to anyone passing through the area!

We booked late, but the directions provided were spot on and we had no trouble finding this lovely spot by the river. Quiet, open meadow with trees and brush with space between sites so it felt private and serene. Very friendly and helpful host. We would definitely stay here again!

This was a great place for us as we camp in a very large tent. It was peaceful, close to town and Bonnie was very responsive and welcoming. We enjoyed hearing the horses and chickens throughout the day. Our dog loved the grassy area in around our site.

This was easily one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. You can hear the roar of the ocean from the campsites and the calls of seabirds. The water of the river was clear and mild. The host Joe was very kind, welcoming and accommodating. We will absolutely be returning someday!

This place is our favorite coastal camp. The location is perfect as a base camp while heading off on Bandon or Port Orford excursions or to simply enjoy the quiet scenery of the river and wildlife refuge. A camping home away from home.

Our campsite was lovely. I never met Tim but he was gracious in welcoming us beforehand. If you have small dogs be aware that, like any wilderness area, there are coyotes on the property or very nearby.

3 nights at Indian Creek

I like dispersed camping. Not a fan of RV parks or state campgrounds. This was perfect. Close to Cape Blanco and Port Orford. Quiet at night. Right by the Elk River. Watched birds and enjoyed seeing the cows. Note: there is no shade. For us not a big deal because it wasn’t super hot. Great host. Highly recommend.

2 nights at Fennel Flats - At The Orchard Hole

We camped at Fennel Flats (site #1) for two nights and loved it! The location was beautiful and peaceful. We were the only ones there with our pup, so we had the whole place to ourselves. Even if there were other campers, the sites are spaced far enough apart that it still feels private. The bathroom was clean, and the hot shower was such a treat after a long day outside. At night, we enjoyed stargazing, and our dog Twinkie had the best time running around and exploring. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and we’d definitely come back!
