Burke and Shannon are fantastic and friendly hosts, who live in an absolutely stunning location. This area is amazing in its beauty and outdoor activities, and they know some good spots to check out (thanks for the Salmon River trail tip!!). The RV spot was easy to back into, spacious, and had water/power in a convenient location. I will definitely be checking in the future to see if they are available when I’m in the area twice each year!

Thanks so much for our stay at Camp Hardy. The directions were spot on and so easy to follow. The campsite was remote and so quiet. There was hiking near by and bunnies munching plants down the road.

Weekend Trip to Eight Four Eight Camp
Beautiful property with a nice mix of woods and clearings. Very quiet (you can hear road traffic occasionally, but it wasn't a big deal). There was one other camper on the property and I only saw them as they were leaving. There are lots of primitive trails to explore and looks like there's a frisbee golf course in the works. The private porta-potty was clean and it was nice to have a well-water spigot nearby. The only minor quibble was there seemed to be some trash in the camp sites. I picked up around my site and added a few other bits from the neighboring site. Wasn't terrible, but it was noticeable. Remember to pick up after yourselves. The burn ban was still in effect, so unfortunately no fires on this trip. Maybe next time. I'll plan on coming back later in the fall or early Spring. Overall, it was a great weekend, and I do recommend it!

This is a great spot to camp at. We brought our little trailer and pulled up right to the platform area that was generous and size with a nice picnic table.. we had plenty of room in our campsite and the stargazing was amazing. It’s only 15 minutes outside of white salmon, making it a perfect home-base for activities that we wanted to do in the area. The host was super communicative and easy to deal with..

We really enjoyed this site! It was so very quiet and secluded. There are trails to explore. The town is close by for quick shopping. And best of all, no cell service until you’re a few miles off the property. Not a fan of Porta Potties, but I can assure you this was by far the cleanest one I’ve used in a very long time. We were with my small breed puppy who loved the adventure. It’s very animal friendly there. There’s plenty of room to explore.

Camped here in Lyle 2 nights while visiting Hood River, Oregon during the WAAAN museum fly-in. Nice clean spot in the woods with oak, pine and fir. Nighttime crickets for a good nights sleep. Clean composting outhouse. (Not smelly!). Secure and undisturbed in the gated area. Good views of the river canyons down to the Columbia.

This was a great spot, tucked away from town. We especially liked the great platform and easy access to the restroom and water. Lily was also super helpful when we had to cut our trip short unexpectedly. FYI for light sleepers, the crickets and/or frogs were very vocal! This wasn’t at all an issue for us, but fyi. Oh, and we had Verizon and T-mobile cells and didn’t have any service. The T-mobile folks could get it briefly if they walked a little ways up the hill. So be ready to truly go offline!

1 night at Mt Hood Camp Spot
This is a great little spot to use as a home base for Mt. Hood exploration! The RV/trailer site in the side of the house was cute and clean and often visited by some very cute and friendly pups + the occasional chicken. WiFi was strong and hookups were appreciated. You can walk down the road to see Salmon River and there are quite a few little restaurants and conveniences in town nearby. We were just a quick drive from government camp and some great hiking and day camp locations. Friendly hosts - we’ll be back!

Elderberry flats was a lovely, secluded and clean site. It had a good mix of sun and shade. Plus it’s near the port-a-potty (very clean!) and spigot. Lily was a very hands-off host, which we appreciated. Other campers were at the site near us, but we hardly saw them or heard them. We tent camped in the meadow and it was lovely. Would stay again!

Open for the 2025 Season Play in Hood River during the day, relax in the country at night. We're 6.5 miles up in the hills, called High Prairie, above the sleepy town Lyle. Welcome to our new home! Kyle and I live in the main house on 5 sprawling acres of pasture and shady pines. The property is peaceful, the skies are full of stars, and wildlife visits often. Our little farm is also home to a small flock of sheep, 3 alpaca, a llama, and a gaggle of chickens. The RV pad pictured is currently rented. We are blocking off the listing for the remainder of the season as the land is charred and unsuitable for camping. We hope to fix up the land to open again next spring. In the meantime, we so appreciate everyone's support and well wishes!!! **** We are new stewards and first-time homeowners of this serene, 10.5 acre homestead. 'Modern' human development on this land first began in old logging days in the early 1900s and old logging access road still runs through the center of our property. When we purchased this land in 2020, we knew we were investing in a real 'fixer-upper'. The original Buckminster Fuller geodome home was built back in the 1970s, and the outbuildings and garden spaces were later added on as the property changed hands over the decades. By the time we landed here, however, the home was in severe state of neglect. As we continue to care for and restore this home and land, we aim to use environmentally sustainable practices to minimize our impact on the land while upcycling, recycling, and re-using anything we can in the process!
