Camping near Pine Hollow

Just east of the Mt. Hood National Forest and directly west of White River Falls State Park, Pine Hollow is a lovely little town that draws in visitors wanting easy access to the Pine Hollow Reservoir. Plenty of people come to the reservoir to fish for trout, bass, bluegills, and bullheads throughout the year, while the warmer months are popular for camping, boating, and even swimming. You'll find a ton of camping options in the nearby Mt. Hood National Forest, from simple tent-only campgrounds to larger camping areas that welcome RVs (just don't expect full hookups). Campgrounds can get crowded during the summer. If you prefer a little less hullabaloo, or if you can't secure a public campsite, you'll find plenty of private Hipcamps where you can park your RV or pitch a tent, some with views of the perpetually snow-capped peak of Mount Hood.

The Zigzag Mountain Lookout Trail leaves from the property. The property was homesteaded in the early 1900's. E. Mountain Drive was the wagon train trail into Portland, known as the Barlow Trail. Zigzag Mountain Farm offers the perfect escape from the city.

Great private spot! We had a good time camping with our dogs, and we didn’t encounter any issues with poison oak. The bathroom was very nice and easy to access. The designate tents spot were pretty small, and our tents wouldn’t fit but there was plenty of reasonably flat space for them elsewhere in the camping area. There was a lot of yellow jackets, and I am VERY glad we brought a canopy with a bug net for cooking and eating. The wasps were not an issue outside of cooking/eating time. Even with these small issues, we had a great time and would definitely return!

I love the location and quietness of this yurt and property. Very welcoming hosts. Really pretty area - and you can see for miles in all directions at the top of the prairie hill. The yurt itself was big and cozy. The bed is very comfortable. Just remember to pick up ice along the way. They provide a cooler or you can bring your own. It's nice to sit and watch the stars. My dogs enjoyed themselves as well.

Its a great very quiet out of the way camping spot for a large groups or small. Tons of wildlife including deer and turkey. No power but had a porta party that was clean if you need it. We had 4 rvs with generators. Most of us just used solar to keep RV batteries up and charge phones. White River is walking distance from apple tree camp site. Tigh valley store it is close enough for most needs. Several adventures are close including Maupin and Pine Hollow lake resort. 3 ponds full of frogs and wildlife right next to the Apple Tree site. Very clean properly with beautiful views of the hills around. Host we're kind and communicated well. Love to go again.

This was our second trip to this camp and it did not disappoint! We booked space for a larger group this time and there was plenty of level grass and shade trees for everyone’s tents. Porta-potties were clean and low. The private river spot right across the road is perfect: plenty of shaded, sandy bank and room to swim. The water was amazing! The host was communicative, flexible and helpful when we had an issue due a wildfire in the area. I highly recommend the camp and hosting!

Zig Zag Farms is such a beautiful and peaceful place. The property is full of natural beauty, with lovely gardens, a small creek, and a trail that loops around the grounds. The trail is an easy, relaxing walk that people of all ages can enjoy. The playground is awesome and was a big hit with the kids. Our yurt was clean, comfortable, and had power. The staff were genuinely friendly, kind, and welcoming. It is a wonderful place to slow down, spend time together, and enjoy being outdoors. One helpful tip: bring plenty of bug spray!

Great location and great hosts! Easy set up. Close to restaurants, store, gas, etc. easy in and out for our 21’ trailer and easily accommodate larger trailers. Wee drive the Mt Hood scenic drive (Multanomah Falls, Cascade Locks, Hood River, Timberline Lodge, Givernment Camp and back to Welches and home base). Great drive with lots to see. Nice little spot to camp. It has a picnic table, seats, a nice fire pit (out of season to use it for me), and a cure composting toilet that does the trick nicely. I didn’t meet the hosts at all cause I came and went to a conference and was mostly gone. There were three small flat tent pads & they were small for my tent but I found another spot between the fire pit & picnic table that worked great. I had a camping cot so it didn’t have to be perfectly flat or rock free. Cute little solar lights light up the way to camp spot & around camp and add a nice touch. The wind chimes were ok mostly but a bit much one night was pretty windy. I’d go back again :)
