Camp on the edge of Forest Park and sleep underneath an evergreen canopy of Douglas fir and big leaf maple.
We have one large forest glade with room for several tents. We book only one group at a time, so you are guaranteed the place to yourselves. We can accommodate up to 15 people, with a max of 5-6 vehicles (parking is tight).
This is a hike-in only campground most suited to backpack style camping. The hike in has two short steep sections about 50 feet each. It takes 5-15 minutes depending on fitness level and load. This is not suitable for those with accessibility issues.
The campground features:
-Fairy lights strung among the tress to create the perfect magical ambiance
-Large fire ring with seating for 7-10 and cooking grate
-picnic table with seating for six
- Composting latrine with a forest view (commune with nature!)
-Photo worthy hammock, swinging loveseat , and sunset views
- A huge clearing with multiple flat tent spots (5-7)
-1/2 mile of trails with hidden surprises
- A parking area suitable for car camping or van camping during the rainy season.

Parking is separate from the campground! It is a brief but steep 1/4 mile hike to get to the main campground and latrine. Bring hiking shoes and pack light. It takes most people 5-15 minutes to hike up, depending on fitness level and load size . If you want to car camp, you will be next to a road and separate from the latrine and fire pit.
Enjoy several short trails on the camp's property before heading to Forest Park's
Wildwood Trail, which is just up the street, or check out all of the incredible natural and urban nearby attractions in Portland.

Tucked Away Retreat evolved from empty acreage to an easy retreat from the city and an opportunity to share our love of the rural life. Located in the Chapman area of Scappoose, this area is rich in logging history; the Crown Zellerbach trail is an old logging road and now an 18 mile hiking/biking "story board" of the life and culture of both the Native American Indians that lived in the area and the evolution of logging. Just over the peak of the CZ trail (which is approximately 3 miles from our property) is an old mine, just one example of many hidden areas to explore. Our retreat is just 45 minutes from Portland, yet feels a world away. You can relax in the quiet or explore the trail, the small towns that dot Highway 30 or head to the river. If you continue West on Highway 30, you will pass through many small logging towns, the old Trojan Nuclear site and eventually land in Astoria on the coast.

Tucked Away Retreat is quiet and peaceful yet 45 minutes from Portland.
Located on 4 private acres, watch the deer wander through the property or the hawks float overhead. Bring your bikes and hit the Crown Zellerbach trail, or hike it instead. We are located approximately 0.8 mile from the trail. Visit Sauvie's Island, the largest inland island in the United States.
Paddle or kayak on Scappoose Bay, head up to the Trojan frisbee-golf course, or just relax on the lawn. We are also an easy drive from Vernonia, the Nehalem River and Big Eddy Park.
We offer two sites; Site A is on flat gravel that enjoys full sun. Site A is across from the large grassy area, perfect for sunning and relaxing.
Site B is on gravel on the upper drive and is shaded most of the day. Site B is best suited for camper vans, truck campers or small trailers due to trees along the back curve of the driveway. Large trailers/RV's and motorhomes will fit in Site B but you may need to back in.
Site B is backed by our private, small shop. The two sites are separated by trees. Both sites have 120v, 30amp and water hookups.
The property can accommodate one or two additional RV's in spots adjacent to both sites for multiple vehicle groups; contact us for more information if you are a larger group. Additional vehicles are an extra charge.
Please be aware that we are RV only, we have no outhouse, so we cannot accommodate tents or folks who want to sleep in their vehicle. We will consider an exception if you have a RV/trailer and kids who want to sleep in a tent. Please reach out to us prior to booking for this exception.
We do not allow "shower" tents.
Also please note that there is no cell service once you leave Highway 30; you have to have WiFi calling capabilities to use your cell phone.

This is a secluded, Park Like property with walking trails all the way around it, and some interesting things for kids to spot, especially up Fairy Lane. Walking access is permitted, but you must keep pets on leash and keep an eye on your kids.
In the dry season, typically May through the end of September, fires are not allowed, and please USE EXTREME CAUTION IF YOU CHOOSE TO SMOKE ONSITE. If you are one of those who just tosses your butts in the underbrush, you will be asked to leave for the safety of our property and guests. There is no smoking allowed inside the cabin, bathroom, or anywhere near the sawmill, or any area North of it.
There is a public bathroom in the middle of the property beside the tree fort. It's well lit and open 24 hours a day. It has a flush toilet and a hot water sink and a HOT shower. * PLEASE NOTE To keep from freezing, the instant hot water heater is disconnected, and hot water, and hot showers ARE NOT AVAILABLE FROM NOV 15TH TO MAR 1ST. We try to keep rules to a minimum, but people seem to find creative ways to cause issues. Please park outside the yellow gate in the parking areas noted on the map. Please park on gravel and DON'T DRIVE OFF THE GRAVEL ROADS ONTO THE GRASS. Anita hates it, as you can cause a fire in the summer, and leave muddy ruts in the wet seasons. If you're driving through the trees, you're doing something wrong.
There is plenty of wildlife on the property especially in the couple hours before dark. Best place to spot deer, racoons, porcupines and beaver are down near the pond.

the camp sites are seasonal and most will be closed for the wet winter months. they will be open from June to September, depending on the weather we may need to adjust the access to the sites. at times they may be walk in only (about 200ft walk) or four wheel drive access only as they are in a low area of the farm and do not wish anyone to get stuck. if access has been changed I will notify you as soon as I can with an update.
you are welcome to walk around during your stay, pick some blackberries, apples or plums but please be aware and careful as we do have some poison oak on the property. I encourage you to stay on a path.

The location is central and half an hour to just minutes away from water bodies Hagg Lake, Nestucca River, Yamhill River, little Niagara Falls, Mill Creek, Baker Creek, Rainbow Lake and more… Such as the Carlton public pool. If your looking to jaunt from camp a little further, we are located a little over an hour and a beautiful drive to the Pacific Coast and about an hour from Portland.
Although in the middle of the country woods, we are surprisingly only two and a half miles from the adorable and quaint town of Carlton. So beside the views, you’ll be alongside some fantastic eateries and outstanding winemakers.
Being raised in the community, and over ten years of experience in the local food and wine industry, I can give recommendations aplenty.

The property has been in our family since the late 60’s and has recently been transferred in ownership to the next generation! It’s been a large adjustment with many precious memories in tow. In hopes to carry on the legacy we opened up camp mid-summer 2021, and it’s a work in progress (as work normally is!), but has been a beautiful experience being in a position to share. There are two family homes on the property with people who truly admire this land!
With the work of these past couple seasons, and thanks to our fellow campers, we have been able to lay more gravel, get a more fluid bathroom situation established, and lay out a few more sites!

During their first date, Chris announced his goal of developing a vineyard and making wine. Tucked Away Retreat evolved from empty acreage to an easy retreat from the city and an opportunity to share our love of the rural life. Located in the Chapman area of Scappoose, this area is rich in logging history; the Crown Zellerbach trail is an old logging road and now an 18 mile hiking/biking "story board" of the life and culture of both the Native American Indians that lived in the area and the evolution of logging. Just over the peak of the CZ trail (which is approximately 3 miles from our property) is an old mine, just one example of many hidden areas to explore. Our retreat is just 45 minutes from Portland, yet feels a world away. You can relax in the quiet or explore the trail, the small towns that dot Highway 30 or head to the river. If you continue West on Highway 30, you will pass through many small logging towns, the old Trojan Nuclear site and eventually land in Astoria on the coast.

Tucked Away Retreat is quiet and peaceful yet 45 minutes from Portland.
Located on 4 private acres, watch the deer wander through the property or the hawks float overhead. Bring your bikes and hit the Crown Zellerbach trail, or hike it instead. We are located approximately 0.8 mile from the trail. Visit Sauvie's Island, the largest inland island in the United States.
Paddle or kayak on Scappoose Bay, head up to the Trojan frisbee-golf course, or just relax on the lawn. We are also an easy drive from Vernonia, the Nehalem River and Big Eddy Park.
We offer two sites; Site A is on flat gravel that enjoys full sun. Site A is across from the large grassy area, perfect for sunning and relaxing.
Site B is on gravel on the upper drive and is shaded most of the day. Site B is best suited for camper vans, truck campers or small trailers due to trees along the back curve of the driveway. Large trailers/RV's and motorhomes will fit in Site B but you may need to back in.
Site B is backed by our private, small shop. The two sites are separated by trees. Both sites have 120v, 30amp and water hookups.
The property can accommodate one or two additional RV's in spots adjacent to both sites for multiple vehicle groups; contact us for more information if you are a larger group. Additional vehicles are an extra charge.
Please be aware that we are RV only, we have no outhouse, so we cannot accommodate tents or folks who want to sleep in their vehicle. We will consider an exception if you have a RV/trailer and kids who want to sleep in a tent. Please reach out to us prior to booking for this exception.
We do not allow "shower" tents.
Also please note that there is no cell service once you leave Highway 30; you have to have WiFi calling capabilities to use your cell phone.
These sites are on our private property. For Site A, you may position your RV to view the grassy area and not the house.

Our Garden & Galaxy Retreat in Portland, OR is a stunner. It is built with salvaged materials from nearby painted lady Victorian home that are the pillars at the entrance and the siding is from a nearby barn. The sliding door as you enter is a salvaged US Federal Building Door that glides on barn rails and it has the original mail slot in the door. The retreat is an indoor/outdoor experience as there are two walls that feature beveled shutters that open and the roof is a see through experience to watch the birds, wildlife and stars. The queen bed is super comfortable and there is a small desk filled with maps of nearby places to play. My home for the last 34 years; I have put care, love and abundance in creating a magical garden with surprises throughout. My desire to provide charm and delight has driven most of the details that also includes a pergola that has a swinging twin bed and chairs to gather and chat. There is gorgeous outdoor lighting for at night and hanging chandelier at night surrounded in the deep of summer with mature jasmine bushes that waft their sweet scent from May into September.

This is a secluded, Park Like property with walking trails all the way around it, and some interesting things for kids to spot, especially up Fairy Lane. Walking access is permitted, but you must keep pets on leash and keep an eye on your kids.
In the dry season, typically May through the end of September, fires are not allowed, and please USE EXTREME CAUTION IF YOU CHOOSE TO SMOKE ONSITE. If you are one of those who just tosses your butts in the underbrush, you will be asked to leave for the safety of our property and guests. There is no smoking allowed inside the cabin, bathroom, or anywhere near the sawmill, or any area North of it.
There is a public bathroom in the middle of the property beside the tree fort. It's well lit and open 24 hours a day. It has a flush toilet and a hot water sink and a HOT shower. * PLEASE NOTE To keep from freezing, the instant hot water heater is disconnected, and hot water, and hot showers ARE NOT AVAILABLE FROM NOV 15TH TO MAR 1ST. We try to keep rules to a minimum, but people seem to find creative ways to cause issues. Please park outside the yellow gate in the parking areas noted on the map. Please park on gravel and DON'T DRIVE OFF THE GRAVEL ROADS ONTO THE GRASS. Anita hates it, as you can cause a fire in the summer, and leave muddy ruts in the wet seasons. If you're driving through the trees, you're doing something wrong.
There is plenty of wildlife on the property especially in the couple hours before dark. Best place to spot deer, racoons, porcupines and beaver are down near the pond.

the camp sites are seasonal and most will be closed for the wet winter months. they will be open from June to September, depending on the weather we may need to adjust the access to the sites. at times they may be walk in only (about 200ft walk) or four wheel drive access only as they are in a low area of the farm and do not wish anyone to get stuck. if access has been changed I will notify you as soon as I can with an update.
you are welcome to walk around during your stay, pick some blackberries, apples or plums but please be aware and careful as we do have some poison oak on the property. I encourage you to stay on a path.

In the heart of Willamette Valley AVA and on a breezy 20-acre lot of land we provide a space for you to set yourself up and enjoy life's natural bounty. We offer a small shared space with a wood fire stove and some essential items, many games (such as horseshoes), and lots of picnic areas and tables sprinkled throughout the property. The location is central and half an hour to just minutes away from water bodies Hagg Lake, Nestucca River, Yamhill River, little Niagara Falls, Mill Creek, Baker Creek, Rainbow Lake and more… Such as the Carlton public pool. If your looking to jaunt from camp a little further, we are located a little over an hour and a beautiful drive to the Pacific Coast and about an hour from Portland.
Although in the middle of the country woods, we are surprisingly only two and a half miles from the adorable and quaint town of Carlton. So beside the views, you’ll be alongside some fantastic eateries and outstanding winemakers.
Being raised in the community, and over ten years of experience in the local food and wine industry, I can give recommendations aplenty.

The property has been in our family since the late 60’s and has recently been transferred in ownership to the next generation! It’s been a large adjustment with many precious memories in tow. In hopes to carry on the legacy we opened up camp mid-summer 2021, and it’s a work in progress (as work normally is!), but has been a beautiful experience being in a position to share. There are two family homes on the property with people who truly admire this land!
With the work of these past couple seasons, and thanks to our fellow campers, we have been able to lay more gravel, get a more fluid bathroom situation established, and lay out a few more sites!

Chris and Beth met and started dating in Indianapolis in 2009 where both were working on their graduate education. During their first date, Chris announced his goal of developing a vineyard and making wine. As the relationship evolved, Chris worked toward the goal by researching viticulture, attending classes and investigating potential vineyard sites. In summer of 2011, Chris and Beth got married and dove into the wine industry when they purchased a majestic 62 acre property in the foothills of the coastal mountain range in Yamhill County. The property had been an old timber farm that was in bad shape. In 2012, a portion of the property was cleared and planted and the adventure had just begun!The vineyard was planted in 2012, with additional blocks planted each year since. I'm always happy to camp at Stuart and Anita's place on my way up to Seattle from southern Oregon. It's well set up for car camping with an onsite restroom that is always spotless. I had a peaceful nights sleep and then visited the nearby Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge where I saw 40 species of birds on the auto loop tour.

Weekend Trip to The Bunkhouse
What a beautiful, lovely place! The property is a dream - truly - so well kept with gorgeous little touches that make you know the land is loved. Sadly, my fiance had a toothache that came on in the night, and we had to depart a bit early, but I took a sunrise walk around, and tears came to my eyes as I walked up the trail to the 2 Adirondack chairs placed just perfectly to sit and smell nature, and relax - if even for a moment. The cabin itself was so well tended, thoughtful touches every that are useful touches, not just there for the 'effect'. It was warm and cozy, with such a great comfy bed and quilts and blankets that were so nice. And instructions were clear and easy to understand. This place is truly loved by the owner and communicated to the guest. We had dinner in town which is only about 10-15 minutes away at most, and it was just a great local little place to visit. So very pleased with our stay and cannot recommend this hideaway enough. It made my very busy life have a little retreat and was good for my soul. I'll post photos too!

Worked out well for us to be close to family and friends over Christmas week.
Only slight negative would be the steep driveway off the main road - scraped the rear bumper on the way in and out … even with trying to go at an angle to avoid that. But those things sometimes happen with a 30 foot motorhome 😉

Whitney was great and very helpful. I. stayed in the grove of trees and it was gorgeous! A lot of options for camp sites, great view, and quiet. There was a basketball court, volleyball net, and dodgeball, plenty of fire pits, and games and fun activities in the little glass house. Would stay again, may bring a group this summer

We loved tent camping at Marks farm. The bathrooms were a wonderful addition to our stay. We enjoyed our time petting the cows and goats. The kids had fun playing and the spooky forest that was set up for Halloween. Mark was very friendly and helpful with all our questions. We would love to stay again.

April and Scott are terrific hosts. We really appreciate the care they took to make us feel welcome at their family farm. The site is tranquil and beautiful, and our two-night stay allowed us to spend a full day relaxing and enjoying the farm. Scott provided detailed directions for approaching and navigating on the property, and he helped us situate the rig to maximize our outside space on the passenger/entry door side. He provided us with a fresh-water hose (dispensing RO-filtered water) and, gratefully, an extension cable for the 30-amp service which I was able to reach easily with my shore cable.
We really appreciated the half-dozen eggs from their hens that April brought over shortly after we arrived. We loved feeding the chickens in their pen the next morning, not to mention marveling at their gorgeous tom turkey. We also picked several sweet and flavorful apples from their heritage trees.
Even though we were just across the lawn from the side of the house, the orientation of the rig allowed us abundant privacy on our side, where we enjoyed the provided dining table set and Adirondack chairs. The gravel pad is level and sits right at the edge of the property, adjacent to a neighboring farm with resident cows. Three of them wandered over in the morning, and following Scott’s suggestion we fed them apples from the ground on his farm, crushed a bit and broken in half. The sweet creatures loved the treats and we enjoyed feeding them.
The morning of our departure, with April’s permission, we picked small but delicious end-of-season raspberries. We also collected several small, intricate cones from the ground under the majestic fir trees on the property.
Scott and April’s hospitality was awesome, and our visit was a blissful respite in the midst of a very intense three-week itinerary. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay with them again if we find ourselves returning to the region.

What an amazing farm to visit. It was all decorated for Halloween which was super fun. The stuff in the farm store tastes incredible. Sprinkle some of the lovage infused salt on your tomatoes - yum yum.
Spots were very spacious. Hosts were super nice. You can feed the apples to the animals.

Our family had such a great time on the river. Even though we got some rain everyday we put our paddle boards in the water from the dock and played. The river is super peaceful and you get to see and hear lots of birds. We lucked out and had the whole place to ourselves even. Really nice to have the provided Adirondack chairs for around the campfire and watching the river too. Hosts were always very quick to respond and helpful. Road and property clean, well maintained and so was the port-o-potty on site. We even visited their horses to say hello for change of scene one afternoon. Mostly though we relaxed in the camp area and enjoyed the river. Will return for sure.

Tad and Alanna met me at my arrival for a quick get-to-know and what was needed.
Semi-private camp spot was close to chickens, but surprisingly they were not noisy (thankfully no rooster that I heard). Spot is off the main road so only road noise was passing neighbor cars. Crab apple trees were ripe for picking, blackberries already finished.
I spent my daytime hours away from camp spot and at the McMinnville Highland Games Festival where I was competing in heavy athletics. On my departure day, I received a thank you note expressing interest in the Highland Games after meeting me and stating that their family was their watching me, which added a nice personal touch to the visit.
