3 nights at Suncatcher homestead

We loved staying at the yurt! It was the perfect retreat to disconnect and relax. Andrew was very helpful with explaining how everything works and we didn’t feel like we were lacking anything while staying there. Nearby hikes and creek are beautiful, the yurt was cozy, and the shower was private while still letting you watch banana slugs and listen to the robins sing. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Our only regret about our stay was not booking for more nights! It’s a lovely property and great hospitality from Lara! She was super responsive and wow, what an amazing chef! Definitely spring for the breakfast - everything was delicious, and the honey (from the bees on their farm) was the best I’ve ever had. And they have a little roadside farm stand where you can snag some goodies for the road. Will absolutely rebook next time we’re in the area!

Lara’s HipCamp site was absolutely fantastic—one of the best camping experiences we’ve had! The campsite itself was peaceful and well-kept, with a stunning view. Lara was incredibly kind and responsive throughout our stay, going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. My girls especially loved spending time with the farm animals and were thrilled to help let the sheep out in the morning. We happened to be there on my birthday, and to my surprise and delight, Lara even gave me a thoughtful birthday gift. It was such a memorable and heartwarming experience—highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Owl Creek Cabin Mountain Getaway

This is our second stay with Kit and as usual it was magical! We love coming to stay and it has become one of our favorite places. This time we explored Ashland and just read and enjoyed the quiet. Our 5.5 year old enjoyed exploring the outside areas, turning over rocks, looking in the creek, etc. He said he wants to “stay for forever”!

What a beautiful place and beautiful people! We loved our peaceful stay on the farm. We had a great time walking around visiting all the animals, and just relaxing in so much verdant beauty. It's really inspiring to see how well the family takes care of the land! The amenities were just right and so beautifully set up - clean, convenient , and so charming. Lara and Joel were such great hosts, even giving us a jump when the car wouldn't start in the morning. I highly recommend this quiet, beautiful spot, with views of green pastures, wooded mountains, and the grandeur of Mt McLoughlin in the distance. If you're lucky, you might even get a personal tour with the host's darling kiddos!

2 nights at Suncatcher homestead

I had a great time staying in the yurt! It was so cozy with everything you need, and super affordable. The outdoor shower and ethernet cables were both really nice touches, being able to take a hot shower and check my emails was appreciated. I saw the most beautiful sunset over the mountains from the porch of the yurt, and at night there were so many stars. The creek across the street was fun to check out as well.

We received fresh farm eggs and milk! This was so amazing! There were already eggs waiting for us when we showed up and Anthony brought us more. My family booked the cabin across the way and noise doesn't travel far, so it was quiet. Lovely view over the small lake. Absolutely beautiful area.

Weekend Trip to Owl Creek Cabin Mountain Getaway

The cabin was wonderful to us! Warm (we were there during chilly days), very private including the surrounding area, gas firepit is simple, an outdoor bath tub is a fun bonus - we've never soaked in the middle of the woods (apart from the hot springs). The kitchen had everything we needed , the tiny living room was just right for us, WiFi was fast enough and the smell of wood in the cabin completed a great stay. The bedroom may not be for everyone - it's like sleeping in an attic (steep stairs/ladder up, no way to stand up in the bedroom). To us the sleeping attic with many windows, felt very cozy and romantic.

The daily activities of the farm create just the right amount of liveliness without ever being intrusive. Lara and the family members and crew who run the place are all incredibly kind and welcoming. The animals are clearly well cared for, and there’s plenty to do in the area. Lara is more than happy to help you figure out what activities are available nearby. We’d love to come back!

Owl Creek Cabin is in the Cascade Mountains above Ashland, Oregon. The cabin, in a Douglas Fir grove next to a seasonal creek is on five forested acres, and adjacent to BLM lands that are open for hiking. It features a firepit (propane-fired during fire season) with Adirondack chairs and an outdoor clawfoot tub for a private soak and a shady deck for summer snoozing. You’ll be greeted when you arrive and briefly introduced to some of the cabin's unique features, including attic stairs to the windowed sleeping loft. Downstairs is a sofa and a sofabed. The coffee cart kitchen has a refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker, electric tea kettle, toaster oven, and microwave. Cook on an outdoor gas grill with a skillet and saucepan, and a picnic table for outdoor dining. Dishes, linens, and bedding are provided. WiFi speed is suitable for basic use. Mobile phones connect through WiFi. The cabin is non-smoking. Children eight years and up are welcome. Recreational areas with miles of trails, including the Pacific Crest Trail, are nearby. Howard Prairie Lake is across the road. We rent kayaks, paddles and safety gear, with transport to the Grizzly Campground boat ramp. Howard Prairie Lake is a local favorite for fishing Rainbow Trout and smallmouth bass. Birdwatchers can see eagles, pelicans, geese, ducks, hawks, herons, and many other bird species. A 20-minute drive will take you to Lake of the Woods where you can dine, hike, and kayak. Crater Lake National Park is 50 miles away.

Elk Haven Ranch consists of 40 acres at the base of a mountain range that is BLM federal land. There is an elk herd and of course deer on the property. This property is a haven for them, no hunting is allowed. If you are looking to throw a Frisbee with your dog in a forested and meadow setting, without tons of campers right next to you, then this is your place. Room to roam, fresh water April through September and easy access to a common electricity plug-in where you can charge your cell phones and air mattresses on the electric pole by the entry gate. If you are looking to play games, just ask us for the corn hole or horse shoes, or help yourself to the games already out and available. Suncatcher is a small food forest and homestead, located creek side in Southern Oregon. We are located 3 miles east of exit 88 on Interstate 5 in Azalea, Oregon. This is a great location if you are traveling or road tripping to any destination along the West Coast of North America! Take a day trip to Crater Lake and Diamond Lake. We also recommend that you visit the Galesville reservoir about 5 minutes up the road. We are a food forest, Suncatcher Food Forest! We tend to an established fruit orchard, pasture, veggie gardens, a pond with ducks, and a small flock of egg laying hens. We are inspired by permaculture practices and are always working on turning the property into a food forest with an off-grid guesthouse and lots of fun natural building projects. The yurt has a queen sized loft bed with cotton sheets, a warm cotton comforter with duvet cover, a woodstove, and a folding mattress. You are also welcome to bring your own sleeping gear. *LEAVE NO TRACE, just as you would when camping = please pack out your own trash* There is a wood stove for the winter months, a solar powered refrigerator, a propane stove and oven, along with a sink, and kitchen countertop space. Basic kitchen ware like: utensils, plates, bowls, Italian stove top coffee maker, off grid blender, cooking pots, pans, etc. We provide plant based dish soap, hand soaps, and shampoo. There is a composting toilet and outdoor shower with a propane water heater for warm showers. There is a picnic table in the pasture, with several wooden log type chairs. There is internet available on the picnic table by the main house front deck. Connect to the internet via ethernet. We have a usb-c converter, an Apple converter, and a usb drive to access the internet through ethernet. We make and sell refined sugar free fruit jam along with produce and sprouted and stoneground nut butters at local farmer's markets. All of our farm goods are available for sale. Be sure to ask about orchard raised fresh eggs, seasonal fruit jam, and sprouted nut butter. We are located just 4 miles down creek from the Galesville Reservoir and about 1.5 hours from Crater Lake. The site is easily accessible. You will have a view of the pasture, gardens, greenhouse, orchards and the host's private residence.
