8 campsites and 2 original Mongolian Gers. The season for the camp sites is from June 1st to end of Sept and the Gers for 2025/2026 winter are blocked out from Nov 15/25 to May 15/26. Pets allowed, toilets on site, campfires permitted when burn ban is not in place. Now up until this year I have provided Free Firewood. I have quit doing that for a variety of reasons, the least being the cost and the work for me. I am encouraging everyone to purchase a Propane Fire Pit if you don't have one by now. I am not to the point yet of saying no big dogs. Talk to me if you think your "big dog" might not fit in. I don't like them running thru other campers sites, so just be respectful. Take them for walks along the lake.. No Yappers, no barking dogs, no pain in the butts. Why would you drive by 46 grocery stores and forget to bring ice? No loud music. I have changed quiet time to 9:00 PM. If you need to listen to the chaos/stressful music I suggest you start a band or become a DJ. What I want folks to get out of being here, whether they are camping or staying in the Gers is just to “take a break”. Relax, appreciate, assess and just listen. I hope what you hear is the sound of life and of course all the Angels that make up this special piece of Heaven. Then there is the silence. The best part of “Heaven”.

No RV's or camper trailers! Welcome to our enchanting Outdoor Stay Area, nestled among the tall, mystical firs of McKenzie Bridge in the breathtaking McKenzie River Valley. Enjoy nature's embrace! Message a special request if you are seeking a group site or event booking for multiple sites or to book campsites plus indoor accomodations in the Hygge A-Frame (listed on AirBnB and VRBO). Gather around our central communal campfire area, adorned with rustic log benches. Cook on the swing out grill over a complementary wood fire when allowed. As summer matures, and burn bans no doubt crop up, we provide a propane campfire ring which you may enjoy between 8-10pm, while permitted. Message before booking to confirm any campfire details or requests. I'm always happy to answer any questions. I live on site but generally the Outdoor Stay Area is self-serve unless I have a special request to cater. Tent sites are covered with wood chips for a comfortable night's rest. Hose water is available. As well, we've added an insulated "drinking water hose" for improved taste and water quality. During your stay explore the wealth of outdoor activities in the McKenzie River Valley, from hiking and fishing to relaxing by the river (1/2 mile walk), biking, golf, a soak in one of three hot springs in our area or visit historical sites. View waterfalls or book a white water adventure with a local guide! The area's wildlife, including deer, elk, grey fox and various bird species, provide a daily delight. If you like birds, you will adore the Swainson’s Thrush birdsong that paints the air in the mornings and evenings here. Our Outdoor Stay Area is a gateway to adventure with towering firs and lush greenery creating an enchanting atmosphere. Whether seeking solitude or company, our camp is perfect for your retreat. By respecting guidelines and mother earth, we maintain the beauty and integrity of this special place together. Thank you in advance . We have a private, single site located on the banks of the McKenzie River in Rainbow, Oregon. The campsite is near our home, but feels private. The access driveway and site size make it best for camper vans and smaller RV’s. Long trailers, large RV’s and tent camping are not permitted at this time. The site has 50/30 amp and 120 volt outlets, as well as water and Wi-Fi. We have a porta-potty on site Memorial Day through Labor Day. The property has many areas to set your camp chair or hang your hammock, and lots of short paths to explore. Recreation opportunities abound around here: hiking, biking, fishing, hot springs, cold springs, waterfalls, lava beds, whitewater boating on the river, and flat water paddling on the reservoirs. There are also four restaurants, a food cart, golf course and a general store nearby.

Welcome to our family's Private Campground - The Desert Rose. A boondocking site for you and your family to enjoy! We have a Yurt, a cabin, 3 RV/Travel trailer pads and 2 tent sites created here and plenty of room for everyone to have their own space yet be all together. You can book the entire campground, or just one of the units. Whether it's just you, or you're bringing a crew, we know you'll love it here! Our favorite hikes in the Central Oregon area is Smith Rocks and Chimney Rock. The Prineville reservoir is roughly a 12 minute drive and the starry nights here are something to behold. Up the road is the most unique petting zoo that we recently found! Find it and you might just be able to hold a baby kangaroo! Boondocking site means there is no hook-ups or running water so you'll want to bring in your own water and heat if you're here in the colder months. Your four legged furry family members are welcomed! They must be accompanied at all times and not left on the property alone. The dog run is for you to keep closer tabs on them while relaxing, not for leaving them while going into town or enjoying the area. The dirt is very soft and it wouldn't take very long for them to dig under to get out and go looking for you. The cabin or yurt is also not a pet storage area - with no power or AC, pets are not allowed to be left alone in the dwellings.

Seven miles out of Sisters toward Bend and 10 miles west of Bend toward Sisters, our 2-1/2 acres is situated on the mountain side of the highway (south/west side). Our site offers room for one campervan or an SUV/pickup with small camper. Back-in only please. Expect peekaboo mountain views of Broken Top, Tam McArthur Rim, the Three Sisters, Mt. Washington and Mt. Jefferson. Walk down and meet the sheep. We have blackbelly sheep, a small flock that consists of Beau (the big guy) and Blondie and Bonnie and BonBon & Spring. Let yourself in to the log cabin. It's a great spot to get out of the rain and play checkers if you want. Grab a book to read from our She Shed right next door to the cabin. There is also a propane fire pit. Open fires are not allowed. There is no privy but an 'insta privy' is available if you need it - you take the plastic bag with its contents with you when you leave :) Leashed dogs only, please. The sheep prefer them being restrained. If you picked up food at The Bite in Tumalo or the The Barn in Sisters, you are welcome to use the picnic table too. And there's a swing next to the sheep pen too.

20. Smith Rock Overlook

100%
(4)
8.8mi from Eagle Crest · 1 site · RV · Terrebonne, OR
centrally located Hipcamp view of the world-famous hiking and climbing destination of Smith Rock in Terrebonne, Oregon! Explore all of entral Oregon easily from this stellar location on a cliffside in Terrebonne, Oregon (population of 1,623 in 2020) with a spectacular overall view of Smith Rock State Park! I have two camping locations on my 1/2 acre that is situated in a somewhat residential neighborhood (not on the business area) in Terrebonne. This is for self-contained campers only. Meaning generator, potty and contained water systems. Pack-in/Pack-out garbage. It’s a primitive campsite and a place to park with a great view! Although it is not what I consider wilderness camping 🏕 it is a great place to get a solid reservation. In Central Oregon especially in late spring, summer and early fall it is nearly impossible to get a consistent camping reservation in one spot due to the aggressive online reservation the state parks use. Many folks I talk to are frustrated by this. My 2 spot(s) are a pretty good solution. Spot#1: The topside location offers the best view of Smith Rock with less privacy. All homes are beside parking spot meaning two homes are in your sight from your trailer. One is a neatly organized homestead with a wind turbine and the other is a hippy living in a manufactured home. Your trailer backed in blocks the view of these and mostly you would look out over rooftops to Smith Rock but it so beautiful to wake up to and to watch in the golden hour of dusk to dawn. I believe you can get three self-contained sprinter vans end to end on this camping spot. Outdoor music played low on this is no problem til 9PM but be respectful of the two neighbors if you are partying. There is a dog but he only barks at loud noises and doesn’t seem to bark consistently or for very long. The road to the site is a primitive gravel road. I’ve only seen one or two cars use the end of the road. There is a public staircase as pictured from the residential neighborhood so people use this to walk their dogs and there is all kinds of established walking and game trails. Speaking of the ‘hood I’ll disclose that if you enjoy right politics you’ll see a lot of American flags flying around Terebonne and if you enjoy left of center you’ll find plenty of like-minded hippy/granola climber types. Everyone is friendly but seem to keep to themselves unless you strike up a conversation. My hipcamp sites are literally on the border of a nice $500-800k houses below and then on top there is houses mixed with manufactured homes. My neighbor Tim watches over the campsites for people coming and going at set checkout times. He and his wife are nice and friendly. Spot#2: This amphitheater location is the bigger lot and offers more privacy but less of a view meaning the view is in one parking spot through the trees 🌲 you’ll see much of Smith Rock for sure. But once again only one spot on the grounds offers this view over a fence as shown in pictures. This site could probably accommodate 3-4 self-contained sprinter vans or two travel trailers but you’d have to organize the turning in and out part. There are some chickens 🐔🐓 on this below site that might do the cockadoodle-doing in the morning. They are on the entrance side. I’ve put up pictures and described this as accurately or honestly as possible. I hope you enjoy your stay in beautiful Central Oregon at my Hipcamps 🏕 Bottom line is if you want a true hardcore wilderness campsite this is not it. If you can tolerate a great view in a very small town this is the place to wake up to! In winter ❄️ if snowing it might be hard to get to without traction devices or snowtires. Please feel free to hit me up with questions. Entrance to property is with combo lock 🔒 You assume all liability for injury/death (heavens forbid) as top lot is on a cliff and I haven’t seen rattlesnakes, scorpions etc... Black widows live under rocks here so be aware As far as distances I’ve added a few and then further below a few fun local linked spots with a couple classics in Redmond/Bend that I enjoy: 1/4 mile to downtown Terrebonne, Oregon (Walking distance to coffee, restaurants and groceries) 1.6 mile to Crescent Moon Alpaca Farm 3.2 miles to Rest Area 4.6 miles to Smith Rock State Park 4.6 miles to Maragas Winery 🍷 7.2 miles to Redmond, Oregon 20 miles to Madras, Oregon 21 miles to Prineville, Oregon 24 miles to Bend, Oregon 25 Old Mill District Downtown/Bend 26 miles to Sisters, Oregon 34 miles to Lake Billy Chinook 35 miles to Warm Springs Indian Reservation. 40 miles to Mount Bachelor Ski Area.

We have recently added two security cameras overlooking the general area of camp
