RV camping in Columbia River Gorge

·

A half-hour drive from Portland, the Columbia River Gorge is among the most popular places in the state for RV campers wanting to take in some of the Pacific Northwest's famously epic views. The region is shared by two states—Oregon and Washington—with the Columbia River providing a natural border between the two. The area is well-known for its numerous waterfalls, including Multnomah Falls—the tallest cascade in the state. It’s also a popular spot for hiking, with a variety of trail options ranging from short forest jaunts to steep hillside climbs. Many state parks in the area are open for day use only, though a few offer RV campsites, including Ainsworth State Park and Viento State Park. In addition, you can find private RV camping throughout the region, often with dump stations, electric hookups, picnic tables, and free wifi. While summer is by far the best season to visit thanks to relatively warm and dry weather, late winter and early spring offer the best wildflower viewing.

Carson, WA · 9 sites · Tents, RVs, Lodging
Dog and Wind Mountain RV Park offer a variety of camp sites in a rural setting, including full hookup RV-camping, tent and campervan camping, and overflow parking with electricity and water. The park also offers a Glamping Unit with a kitchenette and three beds. The two small parks are located right next to each other, only divided by a private drive, and are both run by the same owner. The office is located in the two-story building that says Wind Mountain Resort. Children are welcome but we don't offer a playground or games and focus more on fishermen, hikers, mountain bikers, and guests who come to enjoy the great outdoors and all the watersports the Gorge has to offer. Centrally located in the Columbia River Gorge, the RV Parks offer a unique vantage point to experience the breathtaking beauty and spectacular waterfalls cascading from basalt cliffs, including the renowned Multnomah, Bridal Veil, and Latourell Falls. As you venture eastward, the landscape transforms into an even grander and more vibrant panorama. The Gorge is a playground for outdoor enthusiasts. Hiking, cycling, mountain biking, kayaking, whitewater rafting, excellent (salmon) fishing, two boat ramps nearby, and with Hood River, proudly recognized as the windsurfing capital of the world, only 15 miles away. The area also offers the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, and three volcanoes, Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Saint Helens, the Bonneville Dam and wineries, brewpubs, museums, and so much more. Our RV Park is not just a place to stay; it’s a gateway to unforgettable experiences in nature. Cancellation policy: you will receive a full refund if you cancel at least one week before your scheduled check-in. Disclosures: 1. We're sure a lot of Hipcampers look for seclusion and peace and quiet, but that's not what you'll get at our park. Although our sites are spacious, we're located along busy State Highway 14 and there's also a train coming through at all hours of the day and night (far more often than we like). Light sleepers, please ask our host for complimentary earplugs or bring your own. 2. We're a rural park with gravel roads, grass, weeds, and trees and not a fancy RV Park with immaculate grounds and manicured lawns. Sorry.

Enjoy the peace on our 5 acre hideaway, wake up with the chickens. Take a walk to look at Mt. Adams which is just around the corner. Hiking, biking, kite boarding, windsurfing all within a few miles of reach with never ending opportunities to get your exercise. Just ask for tips. The land has mostly Oak trees where you can take your nap in your hang matt. The place is easy accessible, far away from all but still close to all Gorge attractions during the day. The town has a nice little convenience store, country cafe, Chinese restaurant, and new to our town "Confluence Cafe" right at the entrance by the Klickitat River - Awesome views - yummy treats and coffee. Matt and Ali are super cool, go check it out. Grocery shopping is best done in Hood River, White Salmon or The Dalles. Once up here, there isn't much, so come prepared.

**** Dear Hipcamp community - we look forward to welcoming campers back after recovering from the 2025 Burdoin Wild Fire this past summer. While our "Outlook / Nest" was severely damaged by the wildfire, the rest of the campsite is recovering well. We open May 22nd, 2026 and the camp season will run through October 31, 2026. We look forward to welcoming y'all back! **** We are new stewards and first-time homeowners of this serene, 10.5 acre homestead. 'Modern' human development on this land first began in old logging days in the early 1900s and old logging access road still runs through the center of our property. When we purchased this land in 2020, we knew we were investing in a real 'fixer-upper'. The original Buckminster Fuller geodome home was built back in the 1970s, and the outbuildings and garden spaces were later added on as the property changed hands over the decades. By the time we landed here, however, the home was in severe state of neglect. As we continue to care for and restore this home and land, we aim to use environmentally sustainable practices to minimize our impact on the land while upcycling, recycling, and re-using anything we can in the process! Adams, featuring sunsets that will truly take your breath away. Our property is located within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, an 80-mile stretch of protected land that stands as the largest national scenic area in the United States. This region is world-renowned for its high concentration of waterfalls, endless hiking trails, sweeping vistas, and iconic scenic drives. We offer two very large dispersed camping sites on the property, both with easy road access. Each of these sites is very secluded, flat, and private. For those looking to explore on foot, there is a stunning hike to a nearby bird reserve that can be started right from the property. The trail follows a scenic ridge for several miles, providing constant views of Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, the Columbia River, and the surrounding cherry orchards. To enhance your stay, the shared hot tub on the property can be reserved for a one-hour private soaking session per day at no extra charge. Our backyard might be the most serene you've ever been to! Eight acres of meadow and forest, surrounded by orchards, fields, and the roaring White Salmon River is the getaway that surrounds you with nature. Our 20' RV Spot with water spigot and electric plug-in is located about 100 yards from the river's edge. To enhance everyone's comfort level, we have two plumbed restroom buildings and an outdoor kitchen. Our kitchen has a microwave, refrigerator/freezer, toaster, coffee maker, electric skillet, 3 propane skillets and a grill, blender, cooking utensils, sink with running water, breakfast table, and extra seating. There is a large meadow with two propane fire pits - and of course, heckling the rafters and kayakers from the riverbank is probably the best entertainment! They love waving and yelling "helllooooo" back! The property is only 15 minutes from Hood River (to the south) and about 20 from Trout Lake (to the north). Outdoor activities are endless in the Columbia Gorge - a white water excursion down the White Salmon, local wine tastings and tours, waterfall hikes, and of course, watching the activities happening everyday at the Hood River Event Site. Unfortunately, I do not allow pets. I'm sorry!!! We have our own dogs/cats/ducks/chickens who live here and I don't want to risk any unwelcome interactions. I try to keep the dogs at our house when we have guests but should they come down to the meadow for a visit, please know that much like the cats, they are super friendly and love to hang out. While we are located on the river, I do not allow put-ins or dips from our property due to safety risk and our liability insurance - the current is quite strong and the water is glacier-cold. There is a kayak/raft drop-in at BZ Corners, a quick 3 mile drive up the road from us, or at Northwestern Park which is just down the road from us, and there are swimming holes all over the Gorge (just not right here!) Please do not venture past the rock divider at the edge of the riverbank, as doing so could subject you to poison oak that lives along the river's edge.
