Welcome to our farm! Established in 2022, Rolling Hills Farm and Stables offers the convenience of being close to stores, restaurants and major interstates while still having the feel of country living. Currently 40 of our 50 acres is farmed, but you are welcome to take walks and enjoy the scenery.
We currently offer two 30 amp RV hookups, one at our horse barn and one at our riding arena. Enjoy a fire in our fire ring in the meadow (firewood ready and available upon request) or watch the sun set from our porch swing on a 100+ year old beech tree. Our farm has been in our family for more than 50 years. It was lovingly purchased by my Cherokee grandmother with the intention of gifting each of her children a piece of land. In 2008, we began raising bison here, and we chose the name Cherokee Valley to honor my heritage and the extraordinary gift passed down from my grandmother and mother.

Your Tipi Stay
Spend the night in our spacious 22-foot tipi, thoughtfully placed to immerse you in the sights and sounds of the ranch. Inside, you’ll find a comfortable queen platform bed provided for your convenience. Guests should bring their own sleeping bags, linens, pillows, and blankets.
The tipi comfortably sleeps up to 6 guests—two on the provided queen bed, with ample room for additional cots or air mattresses you bring. Cots are available to rent as an add-on. You’re also welcome to pitch additional tents or hang hammocks in the surrounding trees, allowing space for up to 10 guests total.
The Ranch Experience
Cherokee Valley Bison Ranch is a working ranch, home to plains bison, honeybees, chickens, and peafowl. We are proud to be a Certified Wildlife Habitat, Certified Firefly Habitat and Monarch Waystation.
Explore our scenic hiking trails that wind through rolling hills, wildflowers, and native grasses. Nature lovers will delight in the abundance of birds, butterflies, and wildlife throughout the property. After your hike, cool off in the clear, pristine creek bordering the ranch (water shoes recommended).
As evening settles in, enjoy a wood-fired meal prepared over your private fire pit/grill, then watch the sunset paint the valley in golden light. Fall asleep to the call of hoot owls, and wake to the soft morning glow filtering through the tipi’s beautifully painted translucent cover.

What was an Alfalfa (medicago sativa) field lain fallow for seven years, would soon have bigger ambitions. I'm an artist and my husband and I have a small homestead with chickens and sometimes sheep/goats. Look out for electric netting to keep our herd/flock protected. The lighting over our back field is divine in the late afternoon, or if you prefer a wooded setting, we have a small wooded area across the street from our house. The area is hilly and rather private-- only one neighbor is visible when the trees are leafed out. Electric is accessible from an outlet at the backyard fence or in the barn. We often have fresh veggies and fruit in the garden in the summer, and sometimes extra farm fresh eggs. Nearby (10 minute drive) is Hargus lake, with boat rental and fishing. Also nearby is the Slate Run Historical Farm, (15 minute drive) which is a farm that is fully functioning as a farm from the 1880's with sheep, draft horses, hogs, and poultry at Slate Run Metro park, which has many woodland and wetland trails, as well as a covered bridge and several playgrounds. We are about 35 minutes from the Hocking Hills area, which is one of the most beautiful and unique areas in Ohio.

The Flying J Farm is 250 beautiful rolling acres including 100 acres of forest, 6-acre lake small pond, three streams, and numerous fields for crops and pastures with cows. The owner bought the farm in 1998 for his retirement from a faculty position at the Ohio State university. Two buildings, the farm house and old barn, are original dating back to 1831. These have been restored for current use. The mission of the farm is to restore health both in people though the products produced and in the land by farming in a sustainable way with no conventional chemicals, antibiotics, and use of GMO. We host many visitors including tours and events. An on farm market is available to visitors for purchase of our products including grass-fed beef, maple syrup, and fruits and vegetables.
The cabin was built using wood from the farm. It has off-grid electricity meaning it is powered by batteries charged by solar panels. There is not sufficient power for devices with a heating element such as coffee makers and hair dryers. You may charge cell phones. For any other use, please check with the owner.
Wild Life. There is an abundance of wildlife to be observed on the farm. Deer can be seen at dusk, raccoons can be seen going through your camp food at night (if you put it in your car), turkeys, hawks, vultures, rabbits, coyotes (heard screaming at night), frogs (especially heard at night), fish (jumping), and many song birds (my favorite, the bobolink, May and June only, nesting in the pastures).
Trash. This sustainable farm has no garbage hauling, please carry away your trash.

Carie was an excellent host and more than accommodating. She even provided a propane heater for us as the weather was much colder than anticipated. Jim is a great host. When I arrived there was a bit of a cold front and he advised me on which camp site would be better suited for the weather. The one I originally picked was pretty chilly down in the valley so I moved to the Dog Wood Hill.
He promptly brought firewood and made sure I had everything I needed. The land itself is awesome, the wildlife is awesome, I will be coming back.

Me and my girlfriend loved camping here! It was more scenic than most camp sites I’ve ever been to with a great sunset and eve sunrise view. The hosts were nice enough to bring fire wood out when it had started getting a bit darker out. Would very much recommend camping here and would definitely camp here again!

We had such a wonderful stay at Kyla’s homestead this weekend! Our trip was pretty last-minute, but Kyla and her family were incredibly accommodating and made everything so easy for us from the start.
The property itself is absolutely beautiful, with plenty of space to relax and really enjoy being surrounded by nature. It felt peaceful, welcoming, and like the perfect little escape.
My son especially loved checking out the chickens, and our dog had the best time playing with their sweet and energetic pup, Opal.

What an awesome camping experience!!
My wife and I had a chance to get away for the weekend and this was a perfect choice. Yes there are goats and we LOVE goats but there loads of chickens, sheep, ducks, turkeys, cats and a couple of gorgeous Great Pyrenees dogs. As certified critter lovers, we had a blast and will definitely come back again when we have the chance.

The goats are unruly! Laura, a goat, was my admirer and the kids were the cutest things to watch. I laughed at their silliness the whole time. Many sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, cats, dogs, rabbits, turkeys, a horse and perhaps animals I didn’t see. It is a working farm that supports children’s education and love of animals. Catherine is incredibly hospitable and welcoming. Just a good, nice person. Her team of interns, volunteers and staff are so committed to the animals. Thank you Ophelia, Austin and Maddie Be aware you will be woken by roosters (many roosters) in the morning and you’ll have messy shoes in the evening. This is a no frills location and I liked it that way. Be sure to watch the sunset. Peaceful and relaxing I recommend Catherine’s Hipcamp.

Beautiful spot, just as shown in the photos - Fern Valley Rock is a stunning place to camp out!
Jim was very accommodating - he met me when I arrived and showed me where to park, where the firewood was, and everything I needed to know about the trails that lead along the ridges.
I thoroughly enjoyed the hiking, and the fantastic little getaway in the woods. Just what I needed :)

The campsite was large and the large rock formation was beautiful. The host was very friendly and provided firewood ready to use. The hike to the winery is totally worth the trip. The winery sells frozen slushy type drinks that were lots of fun.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Nature's Way. We stayed at Sunnys Rest and it was nice and flat, easy to access and the was enough space to turn our small trailer around.
Jim welcomed is when we arrived and set us up with firewood.
There is a country road nearby but it didn't bother us at all. The entire weekend was very quiet.
10/10 we would absolutely stay here again!
