Weekend Trip to Feather Ridge - Hocking Hills Camp

The camp sites were beautiful, you could still hear the road from time to time. Otherwise it was rather primitive.

3 nights at Private Forest Campsite

The most perfect camping experience. Felt secluded and in the middle of a forest, without being completely disconnected. I had cell service the whole time and felt very safe, especially camping alone. Beth was an amazing host and was just a text away. If you’re feeling like camping on your own to escape real life for a little bit, this is where you want to go.

Absolutely love this site! This site was super private with hiking around the property, great views, and even a compostable toilet! Beth set up a geocache shortly before our stay and it’s amazing. Bring goodies to trade out on your exploration! Could not hear the sheep dog per previous reviews, but Beth did leave earplugs just in case. Loved the private stream and seclusion of the site from the rest of the world. 10/10, will be coming back!

Weekend Trip to Walnut Falls Escape

I loved the cozy cabin feel! It had a fire pit and grill which was perfect for making food :) There's a wood stove/heater inside to keep you warm on cooler nights. Recommend wearing hiking boots as getting to the cabin is a little bit of a trek. 5/5 would visit again.

The farm and campsite was beautiful. We visited in the winter and there was snow on the ground which added to the scene. Getting there was easy and they are willing to help haul your gear back to the campsite. Site was very private and relaxing.

From our parking area, our private campsite is a short walk (3-4 minutes) by way of a well maintained footpath which leads you alongside a farm pasture, to a wooded trail that empties on to a level forest understory ideal for your hammock or tent. Our campsite is equipped with the necessities: a firepit with a removable grill, a table, your own private outhouse, and unlimited sights and sounds of nature. Trails leading from the campsite will usher you short distances to one of our best stargazing hilltops, to the shallow creek which runs alongside the campsite, through shaded forests and ridgetop views. Our pond, a short 7 minute hike, offers fishing, swimming or simply relaxing on the dock. For longer hikes, all trails connect to our larger network of maintained trails winding over hill and dale, through shaded forests and open (mowed) pasture trails offering the hiker farm-life views across our 80 acres. To make your packing lighter and your stay more comfortable, we offer the following "extra items" at an additional cost. Bare Cove is a recreation lake with campsites. However, we are not your typical camp ground. We have no quiet hours, we do get loud and have a great time on the weekends. All guests must sign personal injury waivers to cover our 6. So about the property, it’s 120+ acres with a 5 acre man made lake that features blue waters, a beach area and tikibar. Our lake also features a launch pillow for blasting your friends up to 20 ft in the air! We do have large float's for rent, which are great for groups. We are one of Ohio's only openly clothing optional and naturist friendly rentals. You of course do not have to be naked during your visit, but it is a safe place to explore the naturist lifestyle if you've ever been curious! We're located about 25 minutes south of Athens, Ohio and are within 30 minutes of some of the best hiking in the state. Learn more about this land: Come get cozy in the private and secluded hills and hollows of Pomeroy, Ohio! Only 25 min south of Athens, but a world away from work, hurry, and distractions. There is no outdoor lighting, so if you plan to arrive after dark, bring a bright flashlight or head lamp as you will not be able to see anything. The cabin is stocked with spices, teas, coffees, hot chocolate, and all you need to cook meals. There is a microwave, toaster oven, crockpot, and propane grill. Please DO NOT flush toilet paper. 5 Leaf Farm

This area was known by the Native Americans as "Pocatalico" (land of the fat doe), and first settled by Europeans around 1890. The property itself was first settled by a man named Mayford Jones, who set the first stones here around 1910. A Jenny Lynn style farmhouse was built and the property was known as one of the best developed farms in the area. Today, the forest has returned to what was once pasture land on the majority of the 100 acre plot, and a small but intensive sustainable forest farm has been taking shape since 2013 under the current host and occupant, who prefers the term "steward" rather than "owner".
