Joe had been accumulating land in the Genoa, West Virginia, area for several years and had dreamed of building cabins, tree houses and uniquely designed vacation rentals and campsites on a beautiful area called Hampton Ridge. Salem Springs at Dexter Run Farms is a separate 100-acre space that provides the opportunity to tent camp or RV/Camper hook up. Rolling farmland covers about 30 acres which gives you beautiful peaceful views during the day and breathtaking sky watching at night. The remaining 70 acres are wooded with many scattered springs that flow from beneath the ground. Our farm and homestead are a secluded nature escape within Meigs County. We have been a working black angus cow farm for over 20 years. While exploring we ask our guests to please close any gate you have opened. Here in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains you are presented with the opportunity to experience the abundance of outdoor activities or bask in the relaxing stillness of the land. Miles of creeks and waterways give you the gift of great kayaking and fishing. Begin your mornings enjoying your coffee, watching the cows graze and the many different birds waking up to the day. Grilling or roasting marshmallows on the open fire pits are a pleasure. Perfect for individual "me-time" retreats or multi generation vacations! Symphonies from the birds, crickets, frogs and animals entertain you daily. But our summer nights surely WOW our guests with the starry nights and lightening bugs. Explore our local Farmer's Markets, several historic towns with shopping, antiquing, artisans and good eateries. Once known as Skyedanser Farms, horse ranch turned campsite. Five acres of land located “on the hill.” For several generations hay, gardens, and livestock have been raised on this land. Our campsite is primitive & hosts a picnic table, fire pit, and a grill. Our site is located to the right of our gravel driveway at the end of the field. You'll see a sign for the campsite, walk approx 600ft to enter the site. You must camp at our campsite. There are many other landowners surrounding our property. We are not responsible if you camp on someone else's land.

Highly recommend! This cabin is perfect. Not only is it beautiful, but it is clean and fully stocked with anything you might need. The wood burning stove keeps it incredibly warm and cozy in the winter. The property surrounding the cabin is beyond beautiful! There are hiking trails and a stream that can be heard from the cabin's porch. The site is very private and quiet. I also can't say enough good things about the host Craig! Incredibly nice, quick to respond, and willing to whatever to make your trip perfect. I can't wait to go back!!!

Fantastic! Despite some of the drawbacks others have noted, my now fiance and I had a great time! I booked this cabin because of the incredible privacy, and mainly to propose in Hocking Hills! (She said yes 😎) Craig was a very nice host and made sure the cabin was well stocked. Despite no running water it had everything you could think to need, and overall you can tell the cabin was built with safety/comfort in mind. We will definitely be staying here again! Thanks Craig!

What a cool little place. Stanley and his family have something going for them. The cabin as your night time ambiance is great for any dark enthusiast. 4 German Shepherds for those lovers of the breed. Having the turkey as your white noice was a great experience. So many other cool city escapes scattered across their property (even pigs). Take out what you take in as always!

The cabin is a little small, but it comfortably housed my wife and I. Everything was very clean with all of the amenities that we needed for the weekend. A very nice spot for a weekend retreat for two people. There's also a huge stack of western and war DVDs if you want to check those out!

Had a great stay at Stanley's "Mountain Trailer with Views" campsite! We needed a place to stay for a work weekend, and every nearby place was booked up, but at Stanley's we felt we had an even better time than our co-workers who'd gotten a hotel room. The views were beautiful and it was certainly a step up from tent camping! Maybe a little dusty, but the trailer was sanitary with a working stove, comfy beds, and hot water, so we didn't mind. Great potential and a fun weekend getaway - wish we'd had the chance to check out the trails on the property, but we'll be back next time!

We really loved the porch and deck:) perfect to sit outside, watch the sunrise and listen to the nature. What an amazing 4 day trip. We wished we could have stayed even longer! Only complaint was the grill was a little ify with no drip barrier between the flames and the propane tank from a safety stand point.. perfect get away!

Great site. Owner Dan Sr and Dan Jr were great and friendly. Awesome being able to have full hook up for our 5th wheel. 50A was available. Very quiet and was able to enjoy the evenings with just our friends who was camping with us. Will definitely stay there again.

6 nights at Dexter Run Farms and Lodging

We had a lovely time camping on Adam's stunning property! The Bear Den was impeccably clean with super comfy beds. The cabin has quite literally everything you could need/want. Usually we go a little bit more rustic, but having AC, a TV, and wifi was a nice treat. There was soo much to do. We had a blast fishing in the private pond, swimming in the shared one, having campfires at night with the provided firewood, and going to explore the property a bit on the very well maintained hiking trails. And WOW, they weren't kidding about the starry nights here. Breathtaking. If you're planning to stay here, definitely make sure to pick up groceries/bait for fishing on your way in as you are a ways out from the nearest grocery store/bait shop. Make sure to grab salt, cooking oil, and nightcrawlers. 🪱 Adam was very friendly, we ran into him a few times and he was super welcoming and helpful, but I greatly appreciate that he gave us plenty of privacy. I also got to meet the younger farm dog, which absolutely made my day. You can really tell that they put so much thought and energy into giving you the best stay possible. Thanks again!

Craig’s Cabin was awesome, it is a bit of a hike in but to be only 5 minutes from a shore and 12 minutes from town while being surrounded completely by nature with no neighbors to mind is wonderful. If you want nature with peace and quite Craig has done an amazing job! The cabin is comfortable and cozy with plenty of room, everything you need and nothing you don’t. Last but not least… Holy crap Craig is amazing! Friendly, responsive, helpful, and a very down to earth host that makes you feel welcome!
