Beautiful last minute find! So glad we had the chance to stay at Saxapahaw Country Club—it’s a little hidden gem in a really cool part of central NC. The site was easy to find for setup. The space was very open and had beautiful sunrise and sunset views. The property is very well set up and maintained. The hammocks hanging between the pines overlooking the pond and the lambs/donkey was my favorite. Their pork is DELICIOUS. We met the owners and they are so sweet, and also very helpful/quick to respond to questions. We will definitely be back!

My friend and I found this spot to “meet in the middle” for one night with our dogs (she’s in Durham and I’m in Greensboro). We had a great evening. Super convenient. Would definitely return. Easy directions to the campsite. Felt very private while we were hanging out at campsite. Yet still close to town/conveniences if needed. We made a quick trip to the brewery down the street and it was great. Didn’t interact with the host at all bc there was no need. His Instructions were clear and accurate. Everything mentioned in the post was available and easy to find - including fire wood, which was greatly appreciated!

Direction to camp were clear, all the photos gave an accurate image of what we pulled into. The ground was level and easy to park for the High meadow spot where we stayed-easy to pull through. It was nice to have their lights, and also nice that they automatically went off after a certain time as to not keep us up. Loved the handcrafted steel fire pits and wooden chairs-perfect for relaxing without needing to pull out our chairs. Although we didn’t need it, they pointed out where the electric hookup was, and it was nice to have access to water, food prep table, trash cans, and the compostable toilet (simple with no notable smell at all with toilet paper-as well as feminine products as a nice gesture-and easier than having to use our own toilet/pack it in/pack it out). Cool to see them out doing their farm duties…letting us have our privacy while being available to us. They also were so friendly and sweet with our kids-even came over and offered for our children a once in a lifetime chance to bottle feed one of their sweet lambs!!! Farm cats came to visit frequently, which we didn’t mind a bit but just something to be aware of in case you aren’t a fan of cats. Great property to roam, fun tree swing that the kids loved, and amazing to get out and enjoy the sounds of nature and be so accessible to town.

My son and I took a weekend to camp, and Phillip's place was a perfect camp site for us. We tucked our tent in between the firepit and the woodline, giving us a great view of the pond first thing in the morning w/ the beautiful blueberry farm on the other side. The grounds are big enough to be spacious but not so large as to be overwhelming. There is enough space between the camp site and the house to feel like we were on our own little slice of land with our own space. The indoor bathroom and dishwashing space, while not a necessity for good camping, certainly made things more comfortable. The space was beautiful and quiet and even came with some visits from Luna, their beautiful, sweet, and gentle dog! It's close drive to a variety of state parks and hiking trails as well as the lake and trails at Lake Michael there in Mebane. It's hard to beat "feels remote but close to a lot"! As a host, Phillip could not have been more gracious and accomodating and kind. Again: the perfect mix of there for support while also giving lots of space. Thanks so much Phillip (and family) for creating such a lovely space and I can't wait to go back!

Phillip’s land is gorgeous and was the perfect backdrop for our friends’ first camping experience. The property was well maintained, clean, and easy to find. I also appreciated that there were no other houses or structures within sight or earshot, so it was a very serene location. Exactly what I hope for when I book a Hipcamp. Thank you, Phillip!

We really enjoyed our stay. The sites are clean and accommodating. The stage site has electric that was clutch seeing as how we were tent camping in the cold and could use our little heater to stay cozy. We made friends with the sweet farm cats and enjoyed seeing the pigs, piglets, sheep and goats. We had a fire every morning. Wes and his partner were very kind and the bathroom extra was so well worth it. Lovely facilities! Will def come back next time we stay in Saxapahaw!

Very peaceful with a great view. Phillip was helpful since we arrived late making sure we found our way to the site since it was already dark. Beautiful area and place to camp. Would definitely come back. The firewood he left for us was nice too.

Our stay was absolutely perfect! We stayed in the meadow, and the peaceful seclusion and beautiful surroundings made for an unforgettable experience. If you’re a stargazer, this is the spot to be—night skies here are breathtaking! By day, we enjoyed seeing and interacting with the friendly sheep and pigs on the property, which added so much charm to our visit. Overall, we’d love to come back and stay here again!

The Saxapahaw Country Club is a beautiful 31-acre working farm and event space. Located just a few minutes from Saxapahaw Village, it's a convenient and gorgeous place to stay. While we are happy to be a late-night crash spot for after shows, we hope you stay a minute to walk the fields, hang in the hammocks, sit by the pond, or take a swing from the branches of our 200 year old White Oak tree. You'll come down our curvy driveway through the trees, and see our event barn on the left. In front of the barn is a communal space for campers to enjoy with a great view. This area has a fire pit, chairs, wood-fired grill, handwashing station, and farm table. Please note, this farm stay is an agritourism activity subject to the limit of liabilities as described in N.C.G.S § 99E‑32(b). We have sheep and pigs and a donkey rotating through pastures behind electric fencing. You are welcome to look but don't touch the fence! We also have 3 very friendly farm cats. Pork from the farm is available for purchase, as well as firewood. Our property is a small hobby farm. The meadow you will be camping in was formed in 1994 when hurricane Fran came through and laid down several acres of hardwood trees. The fallen trees were harvested and the land was cleared and a pond was built and a blueberry patch was planted. Pitch your tent(s) in our private meadow with a small pond on our 21 acre property. You're welcome to fish and walk around the property. Enjoy a peaceful evening by the firepit and the beautiful starry nights. We have a very friendly farm dog named Luna that does roam the property and will likely visit you. Chapel Hill, Mebane, and Hillsborough are all short drives from your campsite. We cater to familes and small groups, NO PARTIES!

Freedom Hill Resort is something unique. It was a state prison until the 90's and we have completed the first phase which includes 5 individual spots that can accommodate a full size 45 foot RV/Tiny Home on Wheels or bring your own tent. There is a RV, Tiny Home, and Tents, available, our bring your own. There is a private bathroom and cold water shower available for all guests. In addition, there are 2 dog parks (one for small dogs and one for larger dogs). All the buildings at the moment including the Guard Tower are only available to enter with a private tour. Spot (#3) includes probably America's smallest Tiny Home. It only fits a provided twin air mattress. If 2 guests would like to share the tiny home, we highly recommend that they like each other. There is air conditioning, lights, and a power outlet. Spot (#4) includes a RV with air conditioning and can accommodate up to 10 people.
