I primarily camp at dispersed sites but this is the one exemption as it’s simply unbeatable. I have and will continue to go back here time and time again. Great location and hosts. Camp sites are far enough apart for privacy and also has good cell service.

What a gem of a campsite! All campsites were full this weekend and we would never know it, the campsites are spaces just far enough away from each other to feel very private. We rented 2 kayaks to leisurely paddle the sound around the Cyprus trees. We caught amazing sunsets and sunrises and the stars at nights were bright and abundant. The portable toilet between the campsites was immaculately clean and well maintained. We will definitely be back!

The best sunsets ever! Beautiful view. We couldn't kayak as the sound was too choppy/windy. We found a river nearby to kayak/fish. Julia was very accommodating. We would definitely stay there again.

Hands down one of the best camping experiences. We wished we could have stayed longer! We spent the night in our camper van parked beside the water. Between the sounds of the waves, an epic sunset, and a clear sky of stars, it was magic. And as many other reviews stated, the Porta Potty was pristine. We took advantage of the kayak rentals and the chopped wood Julia had on site too. Communication was easy and the directions to the campsite were clear. Offering maps of the property at the gate was a great touch! We would love to come back.

The Spruill Conservation Farm is a beautiful place along the Albemarle Sound with campsites close to the water. Campsite #1 had a huge fire pit with group seating, a picnic table and very clean portable toilet. Steps away from the site were several marked, well-maintained trails that skirted along the cypress swamp and adjacent farmland. I really loved this place and would definitely stay over again. I loved reading about the Spruill Conservation Farm history and mission on their website.

Another great stay here! We came with a group this time and rented out all 3 sites. Everyone had a wonderful time. We had plenty of space between sites 1 and 2 to set up all the tents and the fire pit area at site 1 made a wonderful group gathering area for meals and hanging out. The kids and dogos loved the little beach area at site 1 (which was much larger than when we come in the summer and fall). We had site 3 set up as a little fishing retreat/get-away and everyone loved the escape from chaos that comes w group camping trips. The port-o-potties were very clean, as always and very much appreciated! Everyone had such a great time! We can't wait for our next stay!

I loved my stay here! Quiet beautiful farm with very friendly owners. I loved waking up by the horses, and seeing the cool converted buses. Not too far off the hwys, so it was a great stop to break up my drive from DC to Atlanta.

Fantastic spot for a weekend (or longer) getaway, or a stop-in while paddling the Roanoke River. The on-site portajohn was immaculate. The firepit and picnic table/benches at site one were quite handy as well. The on-site nature trails made for excellent wildlife viewing opportunities as well. Julia (host) was very kind and welcoming. I absolutely will book this site again in the future!

Incredibly beautiful and secluded campsites, and yet very easy to get to and even unload at the site. The sunset and stars there were amazing. Went to the site on a breezy day and a lot of wind blew in from the sound, but nothing I couldn’t manage. Julia was wonderful and very communicative about the campsites, and answered any questions I had. Had a lot of fun being here, and I can’t stress how beautiful the campsite was, how well set up the sites were and how clean the place was as well! Photos don’t do justice how cool this place was.

My husband and I had an amazing time car camping! This was our first time camping on the water and it was such a blast. Highly recommend renting the kayaks, especially for a lovely sunset view. The trails were also a nice addition and were very well maintained. Thanks so much, Julia!

4 nights at Drewry Blueberry Farm

We spent four days on this beautiful farm and had a lovely time. Everything was clean and well kept, we had water and an eletric hook up. We tent camped with 6 people and had plenty of space to set up. Our hosts were lovely and we felt perfectly safe (a must for female campers). They let us have the run of the farm and we had a great time exploring and admiring the farm and the livestock. I would highly recommend this camp and am looking forward to coming back in the future.

Spruill Conservation Farm has amazing views with beautiful open fields and gorgeous skies. It’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. The host is super friendly and makes you feel right at home. They go out of their way to make sure you have a great time. Definitely a place worth visiting.

The Spruill Farm belonged to the Spruill Family for over a hundred years and has just been set up as conservation easement protected land. It includes hardwood forest, swamp, a beautiful swimming beach* on the Albemarle Sound - one of the largest freshwater sounds in the world-, acres of farmland, vegetable garden and perhaps the largest fig orchard for hundreds of miles around. The purpose of the Spruill Farm is to further environmental research, promote ecological education and sustainable practices, and provide access for the public to the ever-diminishing shoreline experience. Please enjoy the incredible sunsets and woodland views, while respecting the serenity of this unique gem on the inner-banks. Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Visit the 'Spruill Farm Conservation Project' on inaturalist(dot)org to see all 95 species, and upload any images from your observations. Because it is a nature preserve, please read the guidelines and rules closely if you choose to book with us. *Note: the shoreline changes with the wave action and the seasons. Peace and quiet equals “Solitude at my farm. I’m just like you. I want to camp at a quiet place in the country where it’s plenty of acres and no houses to look at and a clean bathroom and shower. Well it’s here. I’m Located in Wakefield Virginia. If you’re traveling to Virginia Beach I’m one hour away. From my farm there is a free ferry in Scotland where the ferry departs to Williamsburg just 30 minutes. At my farm I have 5 sites for tent/camping so it’s spaced appropriately apart I have 2 Rv sites totally away for their privacy and a new mini house also properly spaced away. All have a clean picnic table and a fire pit. 100 feet away you’ll find that clean bathroom, shower and a wash station for hygiene. You’ll see the love I put into this and because I love it and my prior guests love it, which means it may be right for you also. In the town of Wakefield you’ll find gas stations, dollar stores, a Value food market and if you want (to go) food we have that also. Plus it’s home to The Virginia Diner. Amenities include toilet access, a shower, trash disposal, picnic tables, and potable water. Pets are allowed, as are campfires.
