We carved our 43 acre horse farm out of wild swampy land in 2007 and finished the barndeminium in 2008. We started with Hipcamp 6 years ago and enjoy meeting new people. My husband is retired from the Air Force and works full time doing the chores. I retired May 2024 from being a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Womack Army Medical Center. I have a side hobby making homemade jams, pickles and flavored goat cheese spreads. We love the peacefulness of where we live...although the weather chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, guinea fowl, peacocks, goats and horses do get a little loud come feeding time. We have different sites, please read each description or message me before you book a stay. All the sites have an 8pm latest check in unless you've stayed with us before. With the cold snap we have been experiencing the RV water source will freeze up over night. Please message me before booking the RV. We are constantly looking for ways to upgrade or make our farm more fun to visit.

Hi there! The Cozy Heron is an 𝙞𝙣-𝙩𝙤𝙬𝙣, riverside glamping resort. Noises of traffic from nearby highway is audible. Each wagon is equipped with calming sound machines that also double as bluetooth speakers to assist guests who may be bothered by sounds of nearby traffic. We currently have five covered wagons and one bath house. The property offers a community stone patio, firepit, grilling area, and large expansive lawn. We had an awesome stay at Black River Camping Ventures, camping at Site 11. This spot is easily one of our favorite local getaways.
The campsite itself is quiet, well laid out, and perfect for a relaxing weekend outdoors. We spent a few hours fishing and caught plenty of nice-sized bream, which made the trip even better.
It’s the kind of place where you can slow down, enjoy the scenery, and just have a good time without needing much else. Great atmosphere, great fishing, and an all-around solid experience.
If you’re looking for a peaceful spot to camp and unwind, Site 11 is definitely worth booking. We’ll definitely be coming back for years to come.

Easy stopover spot a handful of miles off of I-95. Lisa and Brian were super easy to work with. Double L has good "sense of place" -- off the beaten path, wake up to a misty neadow full of grazing cows, sun streaming through a grove of southern pine-- a nice slice of southern NC. Chatted with Brian about the rest of the farm operations (goat's milk and butcher shop) but we did not have time to visit these onsite establishments during our short stay. Bath facilities were clean and conveniently located.

I chose this spot for my wife's birthday trip with our dogs to tent camp, and even though it was a surprise, we all loved it! The dogs got to be off-leash, we were within a few miles of at least two great hiking spots and plenty of local eateries with outdoor seating to accommodate all the members of our family. Our host was plenty gracious and perfectly communicative, we loved the amenities on the property like the bathroom, running water, heated outdoor shower, picnic bench, string lights, and even a spacious hammock. Although it was too cold for the kayaks, we are very excited to come back and try them!

I was with a small group. We booked several sites and had the whole camp for our group. We had a great time. We gathered around the campfire to share stories and beverages. My tent vestibule faced the water. It was wonderful view to wake up to.
Lillington was a short drive to pick up supplies and eat at a diner.
Host Sean was friendly and came to visit and share his story.
Our group will probably make this and annual destination.
