This no ordinary campground. Pause is an adventure that will feel like you are exploring your own private mountain nature reserve. Aramesh is 120 acres of Blue Ridge heaven with something for every wilderness adventure seeker: unmatched mountain views, lush old growth forests, babbling brooks, and miles of trails for all skill levels. The property starts at 3700 ft altitude, with summit at 4500 ft on the Glades mountain ridge. We have only a few campsites on the vast property, so the wind in the trees and birds will be all you hear. Come and stay with us and be renewed! IMPORTANT: 4WD or AWD is required to access our property. There is a sometimes steep and windy gravel road into Pause. Please make sure your vehicle has 4WD or AWD before you book. Campsites: They are 3/4-1/4 mile from the entrance. Some are accessible by 4WD. There may be some vigorous hiking involved, but the views are worth it. The pads are various sizes. Let us know what the needs of your party are and we can help you choose from the available spots. We also have several more remote “off-menu” sites for those seeking a backpacking adventure - ask for more information if your are interested. Hiking: There are several miles of trails on the property. They range from an easy slope to very strenuous. The entire property is fenced so you won't easily get lost. On-Site Amenities: we provide a clean porta-potty and running water that is spring fed. We ask that you follow "Leave-No-Trace" procedures during your stay. Off-Site Amenities: If you choose to explore the area : we are a 10 minute drive from I-40 Exit 24. Asheville is 45 minutes away; Waynesville is 25 minutes away. Presnell's Grocery (highly recommended, family-owned store that sells locally farmed products) is 10 minutes away from the property entrance. The Ingles supermarket in Canton is a 15 minute drive. You will find every kind of fast food in that area. There are also several excellent local dining options in Canton, Clyde, and Waynesville which we are happy to recommend to you by request.

Don't think, just book. The beauty of this place is what drew me to it. The kindness, and warmth June brings to this place is what makes you stay. Quite a magical stay, with the sweetest dogs and beautiful grounds to explore. Placed perfectly to explore surrounding hikes and waterfalls. June is an excellent host with a wealth of information about the area and history behind her place. If you're looking for somewhere quiet, clean, with excellent stargazing, book it.

We loved tent camping on Ashley's land! He was very hospitable and kind. We loved hearing about all the animals and things he was doing with his time. We were right by the creek, so at night it was very soothing. Our children loved playing and throwing the ball with Ashley's dogs. It was our first time camping, so we didn't know what to expect but it was one of the best experiences yet and there was even a shower! We can't wait to go back! Thanks for the great time guys!

Lijah's Ridge - beautiful views ! We enjoyed our stay here - and loved the drive up to location. The description for site was accurate - and I might say that this site would be perfect for tents and group of people. We have a roof top tent -so we parked just in front of the tree stumps. Weather was gorgeous - made fire, purchased some wood as part of camp site. Recommending ! Note: This is in description, but can be easily missed. Campers on site above will park in same area, and if you have a rooftop tent - someone maybe parked quite close to you. It did not bother us - but FYI.

This campsite was exactly what I needed. I brought my trailer with a rooftop tent and it fit into the space perfectly. The mountain views were incredible, and the dark skies made it ideal for astrophotography which is just what I was hoping for. The porta potty was super clean, which was a huge relief for my daughter. We had a few friendly horses wander over to say hello at our site looking for head scratches. Getting there does require a 4x4 or all wheel drive, so keep that in mind. The site did have a fire ring and a swing hanging from a tree, which we loved. Jessie, who works there, was amazing with my daughter and she let her help brush the horses and really helped her get over her fear of them. It was one of those trips that just perfect from start to finish.

Weekend Trip to Stoney Creek Oasis Campground

It is a beautiful spot next to a creek. We woke up to ducks in the morning feeding and playing, and got to fall asleep to the running water at night. There were plenty of other campers - everyone was friendly and Ashely was an extremely helpful host. He is very present, and brings a great vibe. The bathrooms were almost always accessible, even with plenty of people there. The land was so unique. It is located perfectly close to Asheville and BMT - the drive was scenic and easy. Our one complaint (I say lightheartedly because it was truly no matter to us) was the wifi did not reach our camping spot. We figured this was the universe telling us to logout for awhile anyways(: It was a lovely stay and we plan to come back with friends and family in the future.

Absolutely beautiful setting! Nice and quiet and tranquil. June came out to greet us right after her lovely Border Collies had done the same. We could not stay long but had a nice peaceful night sleep. Super close to Great Smoky Mountains NP which is where we were headed.

Do not hesitate to book this site, absolutely stunning and the pictures (although gorgeous) couldn’t compare to how beautiful this site really is. We saw a couple other great sites on our way up to this one but this is definitely the one to pick. Private, with 360 views. And the horses were an amazing addition to this little relaxing retreat :) One of the greatest experiences I’ve had camping. 4wd is definitely a must

We had a wonderful weekend at Jill and Fara’s place! Lijah’s Ridge is definitely the move for camp spot, great drive up spot with a swing and some rad sunsets. A 4WD or AWD is pretty necessary but our truck (not a 4x4) made it up. Glad we got to meet Jill and Fara-who even picked some fresh apples from the property and shared them with us. Also glad to report, we had no tick sightings in September! The horses visited us a few times, which was a treat. There were other campers one night we were there, but we were far enough away that we couldn’t hear them or bother them.
