Enjoy a picturesque creekside retreat in Cherokee, NC, the hub of activity for Western North Carolina in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains. Our full-hookup campsites and vacation log cabins feature just exactly what you need to get away and have some fun. Explore our peaceful setting and convenient amenities designed for your comfort and enjoyment. *We are open May-October for stays in the campground, and year-round for the cabins and campsite #19. If traveling West from I-40, we recommend taking Hwy 74 through Waynesville and Sylva to Cherokee for the best roads.

Places NEVER look like they do in the pictures. This place DOES in a good way. I planned a last minute weekend getaway and when I say last minute, I mean leaving Friday at 5 for a 3 hr drive. We arrived at 9pm and the lights were on so that we could see to get in and unload. Two negatives were the cabin had a musty smell and the toilet paper (to me) was loaded backwards (easy fix). The musty smell pretty much went away after we turned the air conditioner off and the cabin warmed up some. I have only ever stayed in one other cabin and initially it had the same musty smell so maybe its a "thing". Would definitely book and stay again and rent creekside next time.

Chris and Sherrie were such amazing hosts. They were genuinely happy to meet and talk with us and to give us camper novices pointers -all done in a way that was non judgmental and super informative. The campground itself was just lovely and also very convenient to downtown Cherokee. We will definitely book there again!

Cabin 10) Creekside Studio w/ bathroom
Super convenient, well maintained, and amazing hosts/owners, Chris & Cheri. Stayed midweek while attending a conference at Cherokee Convention Center and couldn’t be more pleased. Nice having the soothing sounds of Soco Creek running beside the campground. Firewood and ice on site. Great place to use as a Cherokee/Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Look forward to returning!

Cabin 02) Hillside King Efficiency
We stayed here in the smallest cabin the second week in December. The cabin is very clean and nice . Nothing fancy but very nice . We took our dog and she enjoyed going . Great location right at town Cherokee . I never met the owners or needed anything but they were very nice and responsive while asking questions before booking . They were tearing down the bathhouse to rebuild as well . Our cabin had its own full bathroom . Nice creek right at camp . Better than a hotel at the same price or less ….

Great small campground with full utilities, close to everything but it feels like you are in the middle of no where. A lot of shade trees and a small creek runs through it. I was having problems with my truck battery and the owners were so willing to help us out. We will definitely be back.

Lazy Turtle Campground is the Best. We just spent a week and was completely satisfied. I spent my whole life at this campground, Chris and Sherry, the new owners, has made changes that were needed and greatly appreciated. They are both awesome hosts accommodating your every need. The campground itself is majestic. If you want a family oriented campground with a beautiful river please check them out. You’ll end up like me, sharing it with generations of your family. Thank you Chris and Sherry for giving us back this beautiful place.

Very friendly staff! Great location and reasonably priced. Built in shelves and cubbies meant we weren’t tripping over suitcases. The rooms were spacious. Lots of parking room and picnic areas for large groups. We grilled trout from the creek. My family rented four cabins for a family get together. We have been here before, but like the new owners and the updates. My family will definitely plan to meet here again!

This park is tucked away in a beautiful wooded area in the heart of Cherokee. We had a creek side spot and stayed 11 days. The owners were amazing and very friendly. The park is quiet and peaceful. It’s a good place to go explore the Smoky Mountains and the Blue Ridge parkway. We would definitely stay again.
