Enjoy a picturesque creekside retreat in Cherokee, NC, the hub of activity for Western North Carolina in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains. Our full-hookup campsites and vacation log cabins feature just exactly what you need to get away and have some fun. Explore our peaceful setting and convenient amenities designed for your comfort and enjoyment. *We are open May-October for stays in the campground, and year-round for the cabins and campsite #19. If traveling West from I-40, we recommend taking Hwy 74 through Waynesville and Sylva to Cherokee for the best roads.

Beautiful campground! I have stayed here twice this year back and forth from NY to AL. Nice place and people always! Clean bathrooms and quiet tranquil spot on the stream! Will stay here again for sure!

The campground runs along a wonderful creek, our site was next to the dumpster and bathhouse. Our large class A would not have fit on the water. Staff were wonderful, very helpful and knowledgeable. The road in is a bit steep and we were concerned about getting out, but we just drove the rig and car separately to the casino to hook up. We enjoyed our time at the Lazy Turtle.

For tent camping, I would skip this place entirely unless you really want the proximity to Cherokee, which is worth it. We stayed for 1 night and thankfully there were no other tent campers because the sights are close and there is zero buffer between. The Wendy's has very strong lights that were thankfully just behind the tree leaves, but without those leaves you'd just have a spot light on you. The tent sites are the closest to the entrance so the noise can be intrusive at night. The RV sites are close together, but I'm sure the ones on the water are worth it since you can have privacy inside your RV It is a cute place overall and for the price of a site and the proximity to Cherokee it could be worth it, but as a tent camper I would pass.

In the middle of everything, but perfectly tucked away, is a hidden retreat from the rest of the world. Camping beside Soco Creek is peaceful beyond words. The constantly babbling creek quiets the mind, reduces stress, and encourages rest. And that's exactly what I did, nothing, and it was great. Most importantly, the Shower House is super clean and the key to life. Super kudos to having such a great Shower House facility. There's a common, covered area in the center of camp, where tent campers can seek shelter from an afternoon thunderstorm. I enjoyed just sitting there, safely, listening to the rain. And if you want to venture out, you're in the middle of everything; a grocery store is just minutes away. Even though I sought to be offline, the camp's WiFi was welcome for checking back into civilization, to let the family know you're okay. I missed the place as soon as I drove away, it's such a healthy ecosystem. I will be back!
