Bridgeview Harbour Marina is a family owned and operated full service marina, event space, and camping area on the Adirondack shore of Lake Champlain. Established in 2020 the Marina provides seasonal and overnight slips and moorings to boaters, fisherman, and lake-goers, three camp sites, and an on-site cafe. Prior to becoming a marina in 1989, the property was home to a very large Iron Foundry, rail yard, and barge-loading operation known as Cedar Point. Cedar point, part of the larger Witherbee-Sherman Mining Company, operated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries smelting iron ore to be shipped throughout the world via the Lake Champlain Canal and Hudson River, and is credited with providing iron to some of America's leading projects at the time. As far as we know, this land has been occupied since shortly after the civil war. It is actually two farms, combined into one around 1900. The main farmhouse was built out of the logs they cleared in 1879, and there are old foundations of the other original farm houses/barns as well. All over the property (now woods) there are piles of stones that the original inhabitants pulled from the fields. The second farm house was built in 1901. Most of the total 240 acres were cleared pasture land at that time. During the twenties and thirties the property was owned by an industrious couple from the City that lovingly turned it into more of a "rustic retreat"; damming a pond, planting ornamentals and upgrading the buildings. The camp was first built in 1905 by Dr. Goldsmith and family. The doctor and his family used the camp for summer vacations. During the winter the camp was rented out as winter hotel for loggers. Ice was harvested from the pond and stored in what is now one of the cabins. When our family bought the place, the hotel was falling down and the buildings were in disrepair. Geoffrey, the family caretaker, has spent the last few years cleaning up the site. All that remains now of the hotel is the chimney while the ice house has become a cabin and has been improved and ready for visitors. We have a double futon, small wood stove and gas burners for a cozy indoor experience. With 840 ft of pond frontage and 4.4 acres you can pitch a tent on the banks of the pond, up in the woods, or stay in the small cabin all are included in the cost of booking! Swimming and boating in the pond is obligatory. Year round fishing has long been a tradition. The spring fed pond is home to large and small mouth bass, northern pike, crappy, and blue gills. There are a number of ponds and state lands nearby. Accommodations include two outhouses and two docks so no waiting. There is a canoe and rowboat available and life jackets. The camp is car accessible Mid-May to the end of September. There are summer cottages across the pond but not much happening on our side. Cedar Lodge, the nearest bar/restaurant, is about 5 minutes away and very popular all year round. The closest gas station and convenience store is about 20 minutes in the village of Parishville.

Willow Hill Farm is a family-run working horse farm. We train , teach, board horses, and run a day camp. We had a resident camp for 40 years. We have mountains in our backyard and the Au Sable River with world class fishing bordering our meadow for a half mile. Great swimming there, also! We are 45 minutes from Lake Placid and 30 minutes from Plattsburgh. Montreal and Burlington, VT are a 1.5 hour drive. Lake Champlain is 15 minutes away. Hiking, boating, and swimming are all close, and riding lessons are available on the farm. Most hip camp sites are near where resident campers stayed. There are two sleeping cabins with many bunks. Each has two small rooms where a counselor slept and one large room. There are screened windows with shutters on all sides and screen doors without locks on each end. There are electrical outlets and over head lights in the cabins. We have plans to improve the cabins. Past the cabins is the Green with 4 loose stone firepits. Across from the cabins is the shower house with four hot showers, sink, and toilets. Showers and toilets have closed stalls. Currently, the water system is above ground and will not work in freezing temps. We have installed an outhouse for year round use. All water is from our excellent well. On each side of the former(closed) dining are spots. There are electrical outlets on the outside of the dining hall. People with campers may like to park in the riding arena near the barnyard. There are outlets, but no toilets. Good water is available from the barns. Lovely views of sky and mountains! We also have a beautiful 50 acre field with a household type outlet, but no well. There is an outhouse there. Excellent sky viewing here. This is where we jump and train our horses. Horses may be turned out in this field.

Weekend Trip to Adirondack Rustic Retreat

A short walk down to the pond and into the pines and you’re suddenly unaware of reality or time… Truly a beautiful piece of land. Perfect little cabin with such character. A hot wood stove to keep cozy as the falling snow blanketed the silent forest around us. Comfy sleeping pads, lights, plenty of wood, delicious water, cookware and other supplies. Outhouse was so clean and honestly adorable lol!! Truly the peaceful escape I needed. I want to come back and experience what energy every different season offers, I’m sure they each offer magic.

The site is beautiful. Trek to it is tough so UTV rental is recommended. Owners are responsive, accommodating, and kind. We had a great time aside from the bad weather.

Lori and Ray are the BEST hosts! The site is very well maintained, clean and spacious! Their driveway is wide enough to accommodate even a large motorhome. When you get here Lori and Ray will be there to welcome you and are a wealth of information to the area and all the things to see and do. The site is set up to easily reach everything from your water, power, sewer and trash. The property is very private but yet a stone throw from town and just a 30 min drive to Lake Placid, Plattsburgh etc and some of the best apple orchards in the United States! The views are stunning and hiking trails galore. If you come here expect to see lots of wildlife grazing nearby and the night sky is amazing. We spent a month here and we can’t wait to come back, Ray and Lori were the perfect hosts, friendly, accommodating, and just the nicest people ever. Every year this will be our “go to place” and our hidden gem to escape every day life. We can’t recommend enough! They get five star rating from us!

This space was amazing! Ted was so attentive and communicative - gave us an extremely warm welcome. The cabin itself was perfect, couldn’t ask for more. The space heater kept us warm, the bed was comfy, the shower had warm water and the view was beautiful. We will be returning!

A great, convenient, and thoughtfully laid out site. I stayed two nights while exploring the trails and really enjoyed the view over the field with their horses during the day and the stars at night were amazing. The outhouse was convenient and clean as well. I definitely plan on returning someday soon!

Lori and Roy were fantastic hosts at Adirondack Magic. Upon arrival, they were very welcoming, and walked me through all the steps to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. They also provided me with information on what events were going on in the surrounding area which made me feel very connected to the surrounding community. After introductions, they were very respectful of privacy, and only reached out if there were important updates to be shared. They're proximity to the main hiking areas is so ideal, and its such a short drive into town to stock up on supplies if need be (hardware store, groceries, gas ect.). Lori and Roy even arranged an outing with myself and fellow campers, and drove us to a local brewery to enjoy some local beer, pizza and live music. such a fun experience! hope to be back soon!

Weekend Trip to Mt Baker Tiny Cabin

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sara & Matt’s cabin! It’s tucked away in the woods and feels private, but it’s still close to downtown Saranac Lake (4 min drive). Make sure you follow the directions provided, Google Maps wanted to bring us the wrong way (do not turn left down Ledge Lane). There are little HipCamp logo signs that help guide the way at the end of the Saranac Lane when it turns to dirt. The cabin was very clean and inviting. It was cold the first night as the cabin is not insulted or have heat, but between the blankets they provide and the blankets we brought we were comfy. Really appreciated having drinking water provided! We will definitely be booking a return trip to this cabin in the future!

Lots of privacy despite being less than 5 minutes from down town Saranac Lake! The cabin is a great middle ground camping experience- no plumbing or electric but you still get the creature comforts of a bed. The blankets provided kept us warm despite low temps in the 40s. Only downside is the solar shower does not heat up when there’s no sun, but we made it work.

Weekend Trip to Peaceful Country Haven

Tip-top spot with breathtaking views in a great location, 45 minutes from Burlington and 45m-1.5h from the interior (Waterbury, Killington, Woodstock, Montpelier, Stowe), right in the heart of the Green Mountains. Melinda and Dave were very responsive to our messages and just great hosts. They maintain a beautiful, flat site with a lot of privacy, a stocked and cleaned outhouse, and complementary firewood. What’s not to love? This was our first trip with our rig up to Vermont and it’s definitely gonna be part of a regular rotation. Many thanks to these great people for letting us stay at their property! This is what HipCamp is all about.

Ken hosts one of the most incredible campsites I’ve had the pleasure of staying at, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s one of the kindest souls I’ve met too! Make sure to bring a camera when you visit, the view is not something you’ll want to forget, nor the beautiful sites around the campground. This is a must-stay, and I won’t be surprised if Ken ends up being booked year-round!!! (Also, we recommend a car with higher suspension and four wheel drive as to make the trip up to the lean-to easier!) Thanks Ken :)
