This property is bordered by the Saranac River, the backside of Baker Mountain and State Forest. The only other building on the property is our timberframe which we may or may not be at during the time of your visit. The property does have private trails up to the cliffs on the backside of Baker mtn however, the Saranac River is down a steep embankment so it does not make for a good place to launch a boat (several public boat launches nearby). The Mt Baker tiny house is a great basecamp for hiking the Saranac Lake 6-ers, paddling/boating along the Saranac Chain of lakes or Saranac River, Mountain Biking at Dewey, Pisgah or other nearby BETA trails. IMPORTANT DETAILS: This tiny cabin is completely off the grid: no electricity, heat or cooling. Queen sized bed - we provide the linens. The driveway is narrow - so nothing in tow. He was also a talented watercolor painter and his original work is displayed throughout. We are only the third owners and we have been enjoying the cabin since the 80's. In the last 30 years we have introduced some creature comforts (hot/cold water, electricity) while maintaining its original charm. In a time where it is so hard to disconnect from the world, we offer a comfy bed, fresh air, starry nights, a fire and no cell service at the cabin. Learn more about this land: Come, sit back, disconnect and relax in our unique cabin in the Adirondack Park. Our 100-year-old cabin comfortably sleeps seven. There are two small private bedrooms: one with a queen and the second with a full bed. The third room is open to the living room and features a bunk bed. Linens, blankets and towels are provided. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, a full-sized stove, refrigerator, microwave and farmhouse sink with hot and cold running water. The bathroom has a flush toilet, sink and tub with handheld shower. There is a pellet stove (pellets provided) in our kitchen/dining area and a wood stove (wood provided) in the living room. Both bedrooms have thermostat controlled electric heat. The cabin is a true escape: no internet, no telephone and hit or (mostly) miss cell service. There is electricity if you need to recharge a device and there is a great sound system to Bluetooth your tunes. Built by Dr. James Cormier in 1924, our cabin became a summer getaway for his family. He was also an artist and his original watercolors still adorn its walls. We are only the third owners in nearly 100 years and we have been building cherished memories there for decades. We have made improvements to the property while retaining its charm. There is one P/T neighbor who shares our driveway but the property provides privacy. We are adjacent to a NYS Forest Preserve and surrounded by woods. The cabin is a short drive from Lake Placid and Saranac Lake and close to hiking the Adirondacks, canoeing in the St. Regis Canoe Area, close to the Six Nations Indian Museum and an easy drive to the Visitors Interpretive Center at Paul Smith’s College. For the water and fishing enthusiast a 3 minute drive or 10 minute walk brings you to the North Branch of the Saranac River, Rainbow Lake and Lake Kushaqua. Local fishing, and hunting opportunities abound. The cabin’s location also offers history buffs a chance to explore the impact of tuberculosis sanatoriums which served patients from the big cities in the early 20th century. Sites are available to explore within walking distance and a small museum in Saranac Lake is worth the trip. Lastly, there is a cool antique store within a few miles whose owner is always available for conversation about the area. After a day of ADK fun, you can kick back around the fire ring (outdoor burning wood supplied) and take in the stars. The camp was first built in 1905 by Dr. Goldsmith and family. The doctor and his family used the camp for summer vacations. During the winter the camp was rented out as winter hotel for loggers. Ice was harvested from the pond and stored in what is now one of the cabins. When our family bought the place, the hotel was falling down and the buildings were in disrepair. Geoffrey, the family caretaker, has spent the last few years cleaning up the site. All that remains now of the hotel is the chimney while the ice house has become a cabin and has been improved and ready for visitors. We have a double futon, small wood stove and gas burners for a cozy indoor experience. With 840 ft of pond frontage and 4.4 acres you can pitch a tent on the banks of the pond, up in the woods, or stay in the small cabin all are included in the cost of booking! Swimming and boating in the pond is obligatory. Year round fishing has long been a tradition. The spring fed pond is home to large and small mouth bass, northern pike, crappy, and blue gills. There are a number of ponds and state lands nearby. Accommodations include two outhouses and two docks so no waiting. There is a canoe and rowboat available and life jackets. The camp is car accessible Mid-May to the end of September. There are summer cottages across the pond but not much happening on our side. Cedar Lodge, the nearest bar/restaurant, is about 5 minutes away and very popular all year round. The closest gas station and convenience store is about 20 minutes in the village of Parishville.

The Adirondacks also includes the headwaters of five major drainage basins. Lake Champlain and the Hudson, Black, St. Lawrence and Mohawk Rivers all draw water from the Adirondack Park. Adirondack forests and wetlands filter and provide clean water for many communities in NY.

You don't have to be an interpretive dancer (though it's probably recommended) to understand the helpful interpretive signs that describe the six distinct habitats through which the Beaver Pond Nature Trail passes at Higley Flow State Park. Despite the otherwise heavily-wooded and hilly terrain, there is a sandy beach for swimming and plenty of leveled campsites so you won't roll your own little dam down stream. Take advantage of the many amenities this camp has to offer, even for winter visitors (ice fishing, anyone?), but be aware that they do allow hunting during certain peak seasons so be sure to check the calendar and throw the oranges in tow!

Our property consists of 2 acres surrounded by apple orchards, strawberry, blueberry and raspberry fields, corn fields, pumpkins and more! We have segmented a portion of the property for use as a RV/Tent site, with 30A electric, water, septic hookup, fire pit and picnic table, with plenty of space for vehicles, and room for kids to run around. Note there is no host-provided toilet here. Campers must provide their own. Close by is a petting zoo, playground and country store all open to the public. Many other attractions within driving distance. Mollie Mae’s Chicken Ranch also makes a great home base location for anyone interested in venturing out to the surrounding areas. Whether it’s spending time on the beach at Ausable Point campground, golfing some of the surrounding courses, paddling or boating the waters of Lake Champlain, hiking the hundreds of trails in the Adirondack Mountains, leaf-peeping northern New York and Vermont in the fall, or visiting the Olympic Village in Lake Placid, there are so many things to see and do within a short driving distance. We are just 4.1 miles from Ausable Point campground and Lake Champlain, 4.6 miles from Ausable Chasm, 7.9 miles from Bluff Point Golf Resort, 12 miles south of Plattsburgh, 34 miles from Whiteface Mountain and 38 miles from Lake Placid. You can also take the Lake Champlain ferry from Plattsburgh and a short ride to Burlington, VT, which is about 41 miles away in total. If you want an international, metropolitan experience Montreal, Canada is only 71 miles north, but still close enough for a day trip. PLEASE NOTE OUR PET POLICY: While we do allow pets, as we have semi-free range chickens on our property and families with children who frequent the playground, petting zoo and corn maze next door, we do not allow any potentially aggressive breeds of pets including bully breeds. I can't say enough good things about our stay with Joan and the area in general. It was beautiful, relaxing, and just what my wife and I needed for a weekend away. This working farm was absolutely gorgeous and peaceful. Joan was such a generous host, she even invited us out to see the cows which was the highlight of our stay. The farm was easy to locate and there was plenty of room to maneuver virtually any size RV. We will absolutely be back for a visit in the warmer months!

Lori and Ray are the BEST hosts! The site is very well maintained, clean and spacious! Their driveway is wide enough to accommodate even a large motorhome. When you get here Lori and Ray will be there to welcome you and are a wealth of information to the area and all the things to see and do. The site is set up to easily reach everything from your water, power, sewer and trash. The property is very private but yet a stone throw from town and just a 30 min drive to Lake Placid, Plattsburgh etc and some of the best apple orchards in the United States! The views are stunning and hiking trails galore. If you come here expect to see lots of wildlife grazing nearby and the night sky is amazing. We spent a month here and we can’t wait to come back, Ray and Lori were the perfect hosts, friendly, accommodating, and just the nicest people ever. Every year this will be our “go to place” and our hidden gem to escape every day life. We can’t recommend enough! They get five star rating from us!

Lori and Roy were fantastic hosts at Adirondack Magic. Upon arrival, they were very welcoming, and walked me through all the steps to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. They also provided me with information on what events were going on in the surrounding area which made me feel very connected to the surrounding community. After introductions, they were very respectful of privacy, and only reached out if there were important updates to be shared. They're proximity to the main hiking areas is so ideal, and its such a short drive into town to stock up on supplies if need be (hardware store, groceries, gas ect.). Lori and Roy even arranged an outing with myself and fellow campers, and drove us to a local brewery to enjoy some local beer, pizza and live music. such a fun experience! hope to be back soon!

Joan is an amazing host and the farm is breathtakingly beautiful! She made sure my stay at the base camp was comfortable and that I had everything I needed while giving me plenty of space (and recommendations) for doing my own thing. Getting to explore the island as the fall colors were popping was the break I needed. The steak I purchased from their stock was also ridiculously good with this garlic Parmesan "Better Butter" that I got from the local store. So good. If I lived on the East Coast, I'd definitely visit again!

Weekend Trip to Mt Baker Tiny Cabin

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sara & Matt’s cabin! It’s tucked away in the woods and feels private, but it’s still close to downtown Saranac Lake (4 min drive). Make sure you follow the directions provided, Google Maps wanted to bring us the wrong way (do not turn left down Ledge Lane). There are little HipCamp logo signs that help guide the way at the end of the Saranac Lane when it turns to dirt. The cabin was very clean and inviting. It was cold the first night as the cabin is not insulted or have heat, but between the blankets they provide and the blankets we brought we were comfy. Really appreciated having drinking water provided! We will definitely be booking a return trip to this cabin in the future!

Lots of privacy despite being less than 5 minutes from down town Saranac Lake! The cabin is a great middle ground camping experience- no plumbing or electric but you still get the creature comforts of a bed. The blankets provided kept us warm despite low temps in the 40s. Only downside is the solar shower does not heat up when there’s no sun, but we made it work.
