Unirondack is located on a 9-acre plot of land on a small peninsula on Beaver Lake in the Western Adirondack Park in Upstate New York about 30 miles east of Lowville, NY. We acknowledge that we are humble stewards of land previously occupied by the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, specifically the Mohawk and Oneida Nations. We are roughly 90 minutes north of Utica and 2.5 hours from Syracuse.The camp is comprised of 10 cabin buildings of various ages, most original t0 the property from the 1920s. We have a large presentation/theater space, a small recording studio, a field for large group activities or sports, a gaga pit, a swingset and small basketball court, a large two story Adirondack-style lodge with fireplace, and a large heated dormitory-style building. Our maximum sleeping capacity is around 150 although our dining hall only seats 120 at a time. On the lake we have a boathouse and a beautiful artshop studio space. Our boathouse has 14 canoes, 10 kayaks, and 2 sunfish sailboats and we have a small beachfront with a dock and swimming area. Additionally we have a large campfire circle which can seat about 100 people.

Adirondack Cabin for Unwinding

Sleep comfortably in a quaint cabin with easy access to Adirondack hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hunting and relaxing. Our cabin is tucked away, bordered by NYS Forever Wild land to the south and west and few neighbors to the north and east. Built by a local doctor in 1924, this cabin was his family's summer home. He was also a talented watercolor painter and his original work is displayed throughout. We are only the third owners and we have been enjoying the cabin since the 80's. In the last 30 years we have introduced some creature comforts (hot/cold water, electricity) while maintaining its original charm. In a time where it is so hard to disconnect from the world, we offer a comfy bed, fresh air, starry nights, a fire and no cell service at the cabin. Learn more about this land: Come, sit back, disconnect and relax in our unique cabin in the Adirondack Park. Our 100-year-old cabin comfortably sleeps seven. There are two small private bedrooms: one with a queen and the second with a full bed. The third room is open to the living room and features a bunk bed. Linens, blankets and towels are provided. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, a full-sized stove, refrigerator, microwave and farmhouse sink with hot and cold running water. The bathroom has a flush toilet, sink and tub with handheld shower. There is a pellet stove (pellets provided) in our kitchen/dining area and a wood stove (wood provided) in the living room. Both bedrooms have thermostat controlled electric heat. The cabin is a true escape: no internet, no telephone and hit or (mostly) miss cell service. There is electricity if you need to recharge a device and there is a great sound system to Bluetooth your tunes. Built by Dr. James Cormier in 1924, our cabin became a summer getaway for his family. He was also an artist and his original watercolors still adorn its walls. We are only the third owners in nearly 100 years and we have been building cherished memories there for decades. We have made improvements to the property while retaining its charm. There is one P/T neighbor who shares our driveway but the property provides privacy. We are adjacent to a NYS Forest Preserve and surrounded by woods. The cabin is a short drive from Lake Placid and Saranac Lake and close to hiking the Adirondacks, canoeing in the St. Regis Canoe Area, close to the Six Nations Indian Museum and an easy drive to the Visitors Interpretive Center at Paul Smith’s College. For the water and fishing enthusiast a 3 minute drive or 10 minute walk brings you to the North Branch of the Saranac River, Rainbow Lake and Lake Kushaqua. Local fishing, and hunting opportunities abound. The cabin’s location also offers history buffs a chance to explore the impact of tuberculosis sanatoriums which served patients from the big cities in the early 20th century. Sites are available to explore within walking distance and a small museum in Saranac Lake is worth the trip. Lastly, there is a cool antique store within a few miles whose owner is always available for conversation about the area. After a day of ADK fun, you can kick back around the fire ring (outdoor burning wood supplied) and take in the stars. If the weather isn't cooperating, stay in with a good book, play some card/board games or just spend some uninterrupted time with people you care about. The cottage was built in the 1880s by a Keene Valley artist who loved its location on a high point with a beautiful view. Our family has owned the property since 1906, and we often stay in a house down the hill (not visible from the cottage). Keene Valley is a very special place for us, and almost everyone who comes to visit feels the same way. Learn more about this land:Come stay in our 1880s vintage summer cottage, built as a studio by a Keene Valley artist on a secluded and elevated spot in the center of the Adirondacks' High Peaks. It has a gorgeous view of Giant, Hopkins and Spread Eagle mountains. The summer cottage overlooks a cliff and is a few hundred yards from the nearest house, a classic Adirondack camp that shares its driveway but can't be seen. Even so, it is within walking distance of the village of Keene Valley, where you won't want to miss homemade donuts at the Noonmark Diner. Hikers love it because it's a 20-minute walk to The Garden, one of the largest and most popular trailheads in the Adirondacks that has very little parking.The cottage has a huge covered porch (not screened) that looks out on the mountains and functions as an outdoor dining room with a view. The accommodations are rustic but comfortable: a bedroom with a double bed; a kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker; a bathroom with a shower/bath; and a large sitting room with a stone fireplace and a futon that sleeps two. There is a one-room cabin nearby (also available for rent) with a screened porch that is perfect for sleeping in the summer.

They each comfortably sleep between 2-3 adults. Cabins are not heated. Space heaters are provided during colder months (Spring/Fall). While exploring the banks of the river you will find faster and slower areas.* | THE POND | There is a private trail which leads to a small pond. The pond is perfect for exploring by canoe or kayak. There are a few channels which lead to other trails on the property. *Several other properties have access to the pond. However, we have yet to see anyone else using the pond - it is very quiet! The pond is not meant for swimming* | THE TRAILS | There are multiple private trails leading to the river, into the woods and the pond. If you enjoy being in nature, these trails are truly lovely to walk/run/bike and enjoy! They are also extremely wide and well-groomed. We have added Adirondack chairs at certain end points. | THE FIELD | A large field abuts the smaller cabins.
