Pets: Well-behaved and respectful pets are invited to join the adventure. Owners are responsible for cleaning up and removing all waste. Off-leash exploration is encouraged at the owner’s discretion. With vast expanses, including ungroomed paths, open water, and unmarked acres, there’s plenty for dogs to explore. Dog owners must have pet waste bags and a leash on-hand for added safety.

The pebble beach at the pond allows for a gradual entry and goes to 16 feet deep in the middle. Feel free to swim on out to the floating dock. We love jumping in. There are many fish in the pond, most of them are large mouth bass. You may use our canoe, but please wear a life jacket if you are not a confident swimmer. (*Swimming is at your own risk!)
The ‘Fossil Creek Trail’ leads down through the woods from the pond area to the slate bed creek. (*Please watch your footing on the trail- some is quite uneven.)
There are many amazing fossils to find if you look in the creek bed during the dryer season. The woods are cooler and bug free, perfect for sitting and relaxing with a book or picnic.
There are several mowed trails that wind around the pond and then back up to the Tent.

Our historic and peaceful property is yours to explore! According to a few sources we've consulted, the Mohican people (Eastern Algonquian family of tribes - not to be confused with the Mohawk, a distinctly different tribe) were the indigenous occupants of the land where our farm is now located. Historians note that the name Mohican is from the indigenous word meaning "water that flows in two directions." Most Mohicans were driven into western NY and Canada when the Revolutionary War broke out.
Local history indicates that the first white occupants to build here were the Hawley Family, in 1790. Parts of the farmhouse date to this era. Outbuildings were added through the decades and centuries, and the land was used as a dairy farm, among other ventures, by previous owners.
We purchased the property in 2021 in hopes of providing more space, nature and outdoor living for our two little ones. We have two fields dedicated to Christmas trees, as well as apple, pear and cherry trees, and we've had successful garlic harvests to share with neighbors, family, friends, and at local farmers' markets. acre lake, ponds, creeks, labyrinth, a Holistic Retreat Center & Organic Permaculture Farm at a
2000 foot elevation in the Heldeberg Mountains.
500 million years ago during the Devonian Period this was a sea, so we live in shale based mountains with lots of fossils! The Heldebergs are one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth, these mountains have been worn down to 2000 feet over time.
Native Americans lived in the area many years ago and we are quite sure this was Native American sacred ceremony land.
Hiking, canoeing, swimming and fishing (catch & release only) are available on site.
There are many places to hike in the area, an Eagle Trail
and in winter, 2 miles away, is a Nature Preserve that rents snowshoes and has
trails for snowshoeing and cross country skiing,
Very rural and private, even though we are only 25 miles SW of Albany, NY the capital of NYS, here it is quiet and peaceful.
We do have 3 very friendly dogs that will want to be your best friends. Also farm animals that you can meet.
There will be farm noises, roosters greeting the morning and various grunts and snorts... far less noise than any modern city.
Albany, along with the surrounding areas, have many events etc going on. There's hiking, biking, nature parks, horse racing, concerts, festivals and events and so much more. Links and information can be provided to campers that stay with us that are looking for entertainment & excursions.

Our slice of paradise consists of 225 acres of forested land nestled in the foothills of the Catskills near Albany. We are a homestead and small campground devoted to the principles of organic farming and self-reliance. Modern agriculture and big business are unsustainable, destroying farmland at an accelerating pace. It is important for us to teach the next generation, there is an alternative. We produce much of our own food. We have friendly goats, chickens, ducks, peacocks, donkeys and horses the guests can pet and feed. There are no swimming holes on our property, but many waterfalls and swimming spots within a short drive (see list below). A quick 5 minute drive will get you to one of the best disc golf courses in the north east. For the truly adventurous, Clarksville Cave is a short drive away. Visit their website for list of proper gear and rules. We do rent some of the equipment needed.

For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty. It’s considered a sacred site central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka.
Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, the waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. It’s one of those extraordinary spots on earth that make you feel like you’re in another world. The sites aren’t suitable for parties or loud groups.
It's about a 10 minute hike to the waterfall where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire and fall asleep under the stars listening to the river below.
The hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls.
Be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and keep noise down after 10pm to enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside
At the entrance to the campsites there is a barn community room with a charging station, cold water sink, fridge, coffee maker, cookware, and a port-a-potty. There are 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water.
This is a leave no trace site. Take all your trash with you when you leave. Bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty!
Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log.
The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms stands with fresh produce and organic meat close by.
Within a 5 miles radius is a general store, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, Rooted Movement, the Sap Bush Country Store and Café, and Mustang Valley (a wild mustang sanctuary). Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, and others.

Easy entry off a quiet well maintained country road in the town of Conesville, NY. Sitting on 5 acres you will notice the beautiful views of the Catskill Mountains. Feel free to hike the entire property. Hike down the gorge approximately 80ft to the seasonal mountain fed creek. You will find massive boulders, and various artifacts as this property was once a mining operation dating back to the early 1920s. Be mindful of partially fallen trees on the hillside along the south end. It’s a steep hike down so get your hiking poles and good boots. The north end is an easier hike. If you find any cool artifacts they are yours to keep or just leave them and we will add them to the display for the new cabin. Check out the iconic ‘57 Chevy Bel Air halfway down the gorge. Primitive Camping. Embrace the simplicity of nature with our carry-in, carry-out policy. Our campsite offers a back-to-basics experience, as it does not have electricity or running water. A Porta-John is available on-site for your convenience.
Whether you prefer traditional tents or contained campers, our campsite accommodates all setups. Our property has three levels, so please ensure you make the correct reservation for your desired location. Please only ONE tent (max 4 people) per reservation.
Enjoy our hiking trails, fish in our fully stocked pond, or simply relax on an inner tube with your favorite frosty drink! Our well-groomed walking trails conveniently loop, ensuring you can’t get lost. Additionally, there are marked trails that lead deeper into the woods, perfect for ATV enthusiasts and trail explorers.
Important Information:
Reserve your campsite in advance to secure your spot. Limited spaces are available. To maintain privacy for all campers, we strictly adhere to reserved campsite locations. If you do not comply with your reservation, you will be asked to relocate or leave.
Safety:
Please adhere to all safety guidelines and respect the natural environment during your stay. Refrain from feeding or interacting with wildlife, and appreciate it from distance. We strictly enforce a carry-in, carry-out policy, requiring all trash and animal waste to be removed upon departure. For more information, please refer to The Vista Rules.
Pets: Well-behaved and respectful pets are invited to join the adventure. Owners are responsible for cleaning up and removing all waste. Off-leash exploration is encouraged at the owner’s discretion. With vast expanses, including ungroomed paths, open water, and unmarked acres, there’s plenty for dogs to explore. Dog owners must have pet waste bags and a leash on-hand for added safety.

The pebble beach at the pond allows for a gradual entry and goes to 16 feet deep in the middle. Feel free to swim on out to the floating dock. We love jumping in. There are many fish in the pond, most of them are large mouth bass. You may use our canoe, but please wear a life jacket if you are not a confident swimmer. (*Swimming is at your own risk!)
The ‘Fossil Creek Trail’ leads down through the woods from the pond area to the slate bed creek. (*Please watch your footing on the trail- some is quite uneven.)
There are many amazing fossils to find if you look in the creek bed during the dryer season. The woods are cooler and bug free, perfect for sitting and relaxing with a book or picnic.
There are several mowed trails that wind around the pond and then back up to the Tent.

Our historic and peaceful property is yours to explore! According to a few sources we've consulted, the Mohican people (Eastern Algonquian family of tribes - not to be confused with the Mohawk, a distinctly different tribe) were the indigenous occupants of the land where our farm is now located. Historians note that the name Mohican is from the indigenous word meaning "water that flows in two directions." Most Mohicans were driven into western NY and Canada when the Revolutionary War broke out.
Local history indicates that the first white occupants to build here were the Hawley Family, in 1790. Parts of the farmhouse date to this era. Outbuildings were added through the decades and centuries, and the land was used as a dairy farm, among other ventures, by previous owners.
We purchased the property in 2021 in hopes of providing more space, nature and outdoor living for our two little ones. We have two fields dedicated to Christmas trees, as well as apple, pear and cherry trees, and we've had successful garlic harvests to share with neighbors, family, friends, and at local farmers' markets. 2000 foot elevation in the Heldeberg Mountains.
500 million years ago during the Devonian Period this was a sea, so we live in shale based mountains with lots of fossils! The Heldebergs are one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth, these mountains have been worn down to 2000 feet over time.
Native Americans lived in the area many years ago and we are quite sure this was Native American sacred ceremony land.
Hiking, canoeing, swimming and fishing (catch & release only) are available on site.
There are many places to hike in the area, an Eagle Trail
and in winter, 2 miles away, is a Nature Preserve that rents snowshoes and has
trails for snowshoeing and cross country skiing,
Very rural and private, even though we are only 25 miles SW of Albany, NY the capital of NYS, here it is quiet and peaceful.
We do have 3 very friendly dogs that will want to be your best friends. Also farm animals that you can meet.
There will be farm noises, roosters greeting the morning and various grunts and snorts... far less noise than any modern city.
Albany, along with the surrounding areas, have many events etc going on. There's hiking, biking, nature parks, horse racing, concerts, festivals and events and so much more. Links and information can be provided to campers that stay with us that are looking for entertainment & excursions.

Our slice of paradise consists of 225 acres of forested land nestled in the foothills of the Catskills near Albany. We are a homestead and small campground devoted to the principles of organic farming and self-reliance. Modern agriculture and big business are unsustainable, destroying farmland at an accelerating pace. It is important for us to teach the next generation, there is an alternative. We produce much of our own food. We have friendly goats, chickens, ducks, peacocks, donkeys and horses the guests can pet and feed. There are no swimming holes on our property, but many waterfalls and swimming spots within a short drive (see list below). A quick 5 minute drive will get you to one of the best disc golf courses in the north east. For the truly adventurous, Clarksville Cave is a short drive away. For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty. It’s considered a sacred site central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka.
Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, the waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. It’s one of those extraordinary spots on earth that make you feel like you’re in another world. The sites aren’t suitable for parties or loud groups.
It's about a 10 minute hike to the waterfall where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire and fall asleep under the stars listening to the river below.
The hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls.
Be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and keep noise down after 10pm to enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside
At the entrance to the campsites there is a barn community room with a charging station, cold water sink, fridge, coffee maker, cookware, and a port-a-potty. There are 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water.
This is a leave no trace site. Take all your trash with you when you leave. Bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty!
Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log.
The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms stands with fresh produce and organic meat close by.
Within a 5 miles radius is a general store, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, Rooted Movement, the Sap Bush Country Store and Café, and Mustang Valley (a wild mustang sanctuary). Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, and others.

Easy entry off a quiet well maintained country road in the town of Conesville, NY. Sitting on 5 acres you will notice the beautiful views of the Catskill Mountains. Feel free to hike the entire property. Hike down the gorge approximately 80ft to the seasonal mountain fed creek. You will find massive boulders, and various artifacts as this property was once a mining operation dating back to the early 1920s. Be mindful of partially fallen trees on the hillside along the south end. It’s a steep hike down so get your hiking poles and good boots. The north end is an easier hike. If you find any cool artifacts they are yours to keep or just leave them and we will add them to the display for the new cabin. Check out the iconic ‘57 Chevy Bel Air halfway down the gorge. 3 nights at Waterfall Sanctuary & Quiet Retreat
The cabin was the perfect size for my fiancé and me! We enjoyed cooking over the fire pit and hiking down to the river and waterfall. It was quite cold while we were there but the space heater really did the job when turned on to max for a couple hours, we even had to shed a couple blankets! Would definitely return, especially in the warmer months to cross the river and see the waterfall up close. The only heads up is that the bathroom is a short walk up a small hill to a port-a-potty. Amy was helpful and the directions were clear! The free kindling was much appreciated.

2 nights at Mariaville Goat Farm Yurt
Brought my girlfriend here as a little surprise trip for her bday and she absolutely loved it!! I was a little nervous about the weather but it ended up being so cozy inside the Yurt with the snowfall outside. Such a nice and relaxing stay with wonderful hosts that accommodates to all of your needs. Was so relieving to be able to pack nice and light and just hangout. We had everything we needed! Awesome hosts and a an awesome place. Ed made sure we had plenty of wood the entire time and was always available if we needed anything!

Weekend Trip to Little Duck Farm
This was my second time staying here and it was just as delightful as the first! The camper is cozy, clean, and well-equipped and the outhouse situation is even better now. A lovely spot to make a fire and hang out under the stars.

A beautiful and affordable stay! The hosts were wonderful, we (the dogs and I) had the whole property to ourselves. Checked out the local conscience store/sandwich shop they recommended and it was excellent. There’s electricity but no heat so I brought a small space heater with me for the chilly nights, it worked great for the space! The dogs loved the pond and all the land to run on. The cabin was very cozy. Thank you Sydney for making this a beautiful and affordable place to stay. It was amazing, we will definitely be back!

I do wish that the site photos were a little more specific to the site and was able to make out the differences a little but easier before booking, but the site we ended choosing was perfect.
The portapotty was close by and very clean
Definitely considering the same site again or even one of the bigger ones in the future (will be returning for the annual Sheep and Wool festival hopefully!)
or even coming back in warmer weather to enjoy the animals and property more.

Weekend Trip to The Smithy
We absolutely loved the Smithy! Sydney and Peter have a wonderful set up from extra blankets to keep us warm and the hot shower made our trip was so enjoyable. We fished in the pond, took walks around the property, and watched the sunset both mornings from the top of the hill. Our dog absolutely loved the cut trails and joining us fishing and doing yoga! Truly a one of a kind spot. We can't wait to visit again!

Amazing stay! Timothy was a great host and the land was beautiful. We arrived late and Timothy was so accommodating. The area was serine and the star show was vivid. The pond with the koi fish were a nice surprise. Recommended 10/10. Will return soon.

It was a wonderful stay. The cabin was perfect for an anniversary getaway weekend with our 2 dogs. We explored the property with them and earned our cellular signal with a walk up the hill a few times. We had beautiful sunny days but the weather has turned chilly at night - a small electric heater that we brought kept us comfortable without issue. The sandwiches at Bob’s were wonderful and the whole weekend was a success - thank you!
