It all started when grandfather Charles B Wright first establish this farm in 1904. He purchased it for its natural springs. In our barn (now home to Gardiner Brewing Company) he had gravity fed water troughs for his cattle. Since then we have slowly switched from animals to tree fruit. You will enjoy rolling hills of fruit trees and fruit gardens along with beautiful views of the Shawangunk Mountain Ridge. We have 450+ acres so it in very private. As we are a working farm, you can see us driving pass with our tractors or maintaining the orchard around your campsite on occasion. You are welcome to ride your bikes, hike or jog where you will pass ponds and a working farm landscape. Please don’t pick our fruit. If you would like to enjoy the fruits of our labor please visit our farm store open year round on the premises where we sell cheeses, our fresh picked fruit and veggies, local meats, and our famous cider donuts along with other farm products. We also have a farm brewery open 3-7 in our old dairy barn for you to enjoy. Live music Saturdays and Sundays. Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Reserve are only 10 minutes away. The rail trail is three minutes away. This trail gives you walking and biking access into New Paltz, where there is tons of restaurants and lots of shopping. Please be aware that during the months of September and October there may be a Pick-Your-Own customer or two walking around picking apples around the campsite area between the hours of 10:00-6:00. You are also welcome to come down to the farm market and purchase bags to pick your own apples in season.

Not suitable for parties or loud groups. For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty. It’s considered a sacred site central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka. Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, the waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. It’s one of those extraordinarily beautiful spots on earth that make you feel like you are in another world. It's about a 10 minute hike to the waterfall where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire and fall asleep under the stars listening to the river below. The hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls. Be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and keep noise down after 10pm to enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside At the entrance to the campsites there is a barn community room with a charging station, cold water sink, fridge, coffee maker, cookware, and a port-a-potty. There are 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water. This is a leave no trace site. Take all your trash with you when you leave. Bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty! Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log. The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms stands with fresh produce and organic meat close by. Within a 5 miles radius is a general store, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, Rooted Movement, the Sap Bush Country Store and Café, and Mustang Valley (a wild mustang sanctuary). Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, and others.

Learn more about this land: A very spacious semi-wooded site that is in the shape of a triangle. The dimensions are approximately 100' by 100' by 50'. Perfect for the large group camp out or the family site. The Lean-to is approximately 10'x9', large enough for a small tent or keep the picnic table in there for bad weather. Large or multiple tents no problem, put your tents in the wooded area where there is room for multiple tents. There is a fire pit area, picnic table, 4 outdoor chairs and corn hole that all are included with the site. A seasonal stream runs along the campsite giving you a nice bubbling brook sound.  Plenty of privacy with screens around the site. Within 15-20 minutes of our site is just about anything you could desire. Local restaurants, hiking, fishing, shopping, drive in movie and much much more. Well off the beaten track, it's scenic, private and peaceful. Camping at Moon In The Pond Farm is a bit of heaven. There are separate sites to choose. Around the farm, you have your own secluded spot to enjoy. (Though you may be in a field next to our Scottish Highland cattle!) Two are tent sites: the PondSide and the FieldEdge. There's one site for small/tiny RVs or Campervan. And finally there's the HiddenCabin--a bed a roof and convenience. Each has a firepit with a small grill to cook over the fire. (all firewood provided) Our campsites are in quieter areas of the farm. One overlooks the pond, others are on the edges of different farm fields, one a cabin nearer the farmstead. All require a beautiful, bucolic trek of 150-350 yards from the roadside parking--ensuring the quiet, natural experience. During the day times, you may see or hear farm work. At night it's lusciously dark and serenely quiet. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! In June and July the fields and trees light up like Christmas with fireflies, and you'll see the stars. During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. If you can, take advantage by adding a Thursday or Sunday night to a weekend stay. We've got an awesome, easy hiking trail on adjacent Nature Conservancy land. It meanders through woodlands, around rock ledges, through wetlands (on a 600' of boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam. Not far from here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail (with famous Bash Bish Falls) and several offshoots (Sage's Ravine, Race Brook Falls), Bartholomew's Cobble, Umpacheenee Falls, and others). Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, gavel-road and country-road biking, and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Or... you can just chill and relax, sleep, or read the day away! Love food? This is Farm-to-Table for real! Never so close--the table's AT the farm! Bring your cooking gear and get some of our wicked fresh organic food--veggies, chops, sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a real treat! Very nearby, as the Berkshires is a cultural mecca, there are also numerous opportunities from many great restaurants to art, dance, music, spas, galleries, antique shops, museums, cafes and much more. It's still amazingly quiet at the farm where the Milky Way is clearly visible.

It was a cinderblock extension of the cow barn. We took it down and used the foundation for the pavilion.

During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. If you can, take advantage by adding a Thursday or Sunday night to a weekend stay. We've got an awesome, easy hiking trail on adjacent Nature Conservancy land. It meanders through woodlands, around rock ledges, through wetlands (on a 600' of boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam. Not far from here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail (with famous Bash Bish Falls) and several offshoots (Sage's Ravine, Race Brook Falls), Bartholomew's Cobble, Umpacheenee Falls, and others). Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, gavel-road and country-road biking, and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Or... you can just chill and relax, sleep, or read the day away! Love food? This is Farm-to-Table for real! Never so close--the table's AT the farm! Bring your cooking gear and get some of our wicked fresh organic food--veggies, chops, sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a real treat! Brought my girlfriend here as a little surprise trip for her bday and she absolutely loved it!! I was a little nervous about the weather but it ended up being so cozy inside the Yurt with the snowfall outside. Such a nice and relaxing stay with wonderful hosts that accommodates to all of your needs. Was so relieving to be able to pack nice and light and just hangout. We had everything we needed! Awesome hosts and a an awesome place. Ed made sure we had plenty of wood the entire time and was always available if we needed anything!

This was perfect! We stayed for a night on a cool fall night. Lots of space, and included a picnic table and fire ring. The brewery was great (we were there on a Saturday) the portapotty is a bit of a walk from this particular site, but it wasn’t too bad! The farmers market was walkable, but also a short drive. Be sure to check out the farmers market while you are there! Would definitely stay again.

I was there at the end of October and all were quiet with beautiful views of the apple orchards and surrounding areas. There is a farm store on site that has all sorts of goodies. Great location! Just a 10 minute drive from Mohonk Mountain trails which we hiked before setting up camp. We arrived around dinner time and were able to snag a bite and drink at the brewery and listen to awesome live music! The staff were very lovely in both the brewery and attached market. Stayed at the Stonehenge site which was easy to find and equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. Porta potty with sanitizing station was located a short walk away which was convenient even in the dark. There was another group camping in our area but they’re so well spaced that it felt private. If you’re a stargazer, this site is stunningly unobstructed. Would stay again!

With three private sites deep in the Catskills, this special land has a variety of mature trees, open meadows with ferns and dogwood stands, remnants of an old apple orchard, trails across old rock walls and mountain streams through gently sloping topography, and abundant birds, frogs, newts, and other wildlife. Plus one of the best swimming ponds in all of the Catskills! There are three sites: one tucked into a meadow in a forest clearing, another under a hemlock grove deeper in the woods, and a third reserved for Long Path thru-hikers who come down from the mountains for a break, which can also be overflow. All are off-grid and rustic but close enough to the house and parking area to have convenience, and far enough—and hidden out of view—to offer real privacy. (About a 4-minute walk from your shared toilet/supply/storage shed by driveway.) Tent area has cleared flat pads for two small tents. Location is far enough from things that you can walk a minute into the woods and feel lost to civilization, yet only two miles of paved road from downtown Windham and all that the cozy resort town has to offer. Makes a great basecamp for exploring the rest of the Northern Catskills, or a hideaway to stay and get lost in. Hike miles of trails and old logging roads in the Elm Ridge Wild Forest, starting literally steps from your campsite. Swim in the large spring-fed pond, or just watch the colorful koi swim. Sit around the fire and reflect on the day’s adventures. Or just take in the wide-open views of distant mountains and starry skies. Named during the pandemic, "Camp COVID Site 19" was born out of our desire to camp, as we weren't able to go camping anywhere! This camp is the back half of our property, located in the village of Tannersville. Camp is divided from our personal yard by a fence. The camp is also completely fenced in once the driveway gates are closed, allowing your pets to safely be off leash if you wish! A long stone driveway leads to camp, with a flat spot to park your skoolie, motorhome, or vehicle. There is a creek running along the entire back side of our property, outside of the fenced in area, which you can access by walking a few feet though the gates under the Camp COVID sign. We have a new bon fire pit in the center of camp, and fires are allowed as long as there is no burn ban in effect. Firewood is on site, and can be added on for $10 per night. We have 2 water hook ups and one 15 amp electric hook up on site, we just ask that you do not run an A/C unit as it will trip our main breaker. There is a dump station at North South Lake State Park and Campground only minutes away in Haines Falls. Instructions and rules are posted in the bath house which has an on demand hot water shower and a composting toilet. There is a garbage can for your convienece which is located in the shed which must be kept closed to avoid black bears visiting! There is a covered dried in area to the left of the shed. We have a half barrel charcoal grill with a flat top griddle as well as several grill grates. One of the grill grates also fits over the fire pit if you prefer fire cooking! There is an RV on site that will not be occupied during your stay, please do not enter, thank you! Come and stay and say hi!

Our historic and peaceful property is yours to explore! You can swim in the pond, take casual strolls around the property, enjoy the campfire at night, bike for miles on scenic country roads, and use this site as a jumping off point to discover all the beer, wine, cheese, concerts, festivals, hiking, kayaking, restaurants, shopping and more that the greater Capital Region has to offer! According to a few sources we've consulted, the Mohican people (Eastern Algonquian family of tribes - not to be confused with the Mohawk, a distinctly different tribe) were the indigenous occupants of the land where our farm is now located. Historians note that the name Mohican is from the indigenous word meaning "water that flows in two directions." Most Mohicans were driven into western NY and Canada when the Revolutionary War broke out. Local history indicates that the first white occupants to build here were the Hawley Family, in 1790. Parts of the farmhouse date to this era. Outbuildings were added through the decades and centuries, and the land was used as a dairy farm, among other ventures, by previous owners. We purchased the property in 2021 in hopes of providing more space, nature and outdoor living for our two little ones. We have two fields dedicated to Christmas trees, as well as apple, pear and cherry trees, and we've had successful garlic harvests to share with neighbors, family, friends, and at local farmers' markets. A true wilderness experience. Base camp is an old Catskill farmhouse built late 19th century but first deeded 1820. Sits at the base of Evergreen Mountain bordered on three sides by tumbling water: West Kill Creek, Herdman Brook, and Haring Brook. Operated as a hunting and fishing lodge for decades - rainbow, brown, heron, kingfishers, eagles, larks , deer, bear, mink, beaver, bobcat - all there, right out the door, literally. You don't know what's going to come through your camp. The actual camp site itself is the ultimate in social distancing. As close to pure wilderness as it gets. No vehicles allowed at site. From an easily accessible parking space, it's a mildly uphill ten minute hike through magical meadows deep into a hidden mountain valley in the midst of 250,000 acres. Utter privacy. The only sounds being the wind, the birds, yourself, and Herdman Brook rushing along a few yards east of your site. Once again no vehicles are allowed at the campsite itself. At one time, yes, but we needed to disallow it because the property was being torn up, and the beauty of the site is that it's so pristine. This is not glamping. No cabin. No platform. Need tent, tarp, or hammock, and you will sleep under more stars than you can possibly imagine. Fire ring, cooking grate, water bucket This is true wilderness camping. You're off the grid at site - no cell service - but wifi available if necessary on front porch of main house aka base camp. 10 a.m. check in. 3 p.m. checkout. Please send ETA when possible. Campers ought to be aware that black bears live in these mountains., although you're not likely to see one unless it's running away from you. If you're really nervous bring bear spray, but you're not likely to need it. I literally chased one off our porch not a month ago. I would appreciate your purchasing human waste bags from me at base camp when you arrive. I'll have them here for $3.00/bag. Feel free to buy your own. You should also bring FIRE STARTER to make your life easier. We sell firewood as well - 7 logs/$10. As with the waste bags, we would appreciate buying the firewood directly from us. Wonderful hikes - one to a waterfall - trail head at end of Spruceton Rd. Hunter Brook, Devil's Notch, Fire Tower atop Hunter Mountain, Ridge of West Kill Mountain West Kill Brewery and Spruceton Inn Bed and Bar each half mile up the road. Civilized respites. 4 campers preferred. 6 possible. One more thing: DOGS. We have two: a 13 year old female whatever and a shepherd-husky mix, 4 years old, also female. They are quite friendly and docile, although the shepherd looks intimidating, and both roam the property at will 2-3 times/day. We would prefer you not bring your dog, however, if you must, please be certain it is well behaved 4.5 miles up County Rte 6 to 1833 Spruceton Rd., NY 12492 Old white farmhouse. On left. He discovered an incredible wilderness like none he'd ever seen, populated by whitetail deer, black bear, fox, racoons, bobcat and coyote as well as a natural aviary of hawks, peregrine falcons, owls, eagles and pileated woodpeckers. That day he fell in love with the Shawangunk Ridge.
