Sweeping pastoral hillsides mixed with densely wooded private acres make our camps unique, each one offering a different experience. A developed network of our own marked trails for exploring, our private red slate swimming quarry with docks and seating, and catch release fishing at 2 ponds are a few things to enjoy here. Slate Valley Trails and Merck Forest are close by. Places to picnic, enjoy the sunset, and idle are a plenty. Our farm stand is stocked with seasonal produce, jams, eggs, and bagged ice. Spring water is available. Excellent locally burgers, steaks, chicken and more are available as pre-order EXTRAS.

This off-the-grid tiny house is nestled on a 23 acre parcel at the end of a quarter-mile dirt road. The property itself is secluded but is less than 2 miles from the heart of Saranac Lake's downtown. This property is bordered by the Saranac River, the backside of Baker Mountain and State Forest. The only other building on the property is our timberframe which we may or may not be at during the time of your visit. The property does have private trails up to the cliffs on the backside of Baker mtn however, the Saranac River is down a steep embankment so it does not make for a good place to launch a boat (several public boat launches nearby).
The Mt Baker tiny house is a great basecamp for hiking the Saranac Lake 6-ers, paddling/boating along the Saranac Chain of lakes or Saranac River, Mountain Biking at Dewey, Pisgah or other nearby BETA trails.
IMPORTANT DETAILS:
This tiny cabin is completely off the grid: no electricity, heat or cooling.
Queen sized bed - we provide the linens.
The driveway is narrow - so nothing in tow.
Drinking water is provided via jug and dispenser.

As far as we know, this land has been occupied since shortly after the civil war. It is actually two farms, combined into one around 1900. The main farmhouse was built out of the logs they cleared in 1879, and there are old foundations of the other original farm houses/barns as well. All over the property (now woods) there are piles of stones that the original inhabitants pulled from the fields. The second farm house was built in 1901. Most of the total 240 acres were cleared pasture land at that time. During the twenties and thirties the property was owned by an industrious couple from the City that lovingly turned it into more of a "rustic retreat"; damming a pond, planting ornamentals and upgrading the buildings. There have been many owners over the years, but we are proud to say it has been with us the longest. Our family bought it in 1961 and we have been trying to be good stewards ever since. Come and visit our little patch of wilderness!

Camp Forever is a very special 45 acre property, located within the Adirondack Blue Line. It has been in my family since the early 30's. My grandfather carved a small campground out of the woods that he ran from the early 70's until the mid-80's. Some of my earliest and best childhood memories are from time I spent at the camp. In the mid-80's, my Uncle took Camp Forever over and ran it until around 2014. As a small private campground for over four decades, Camp Forever became a special place for many families from Quebec and from the local area.
My family and I recently purchased Camp Forever from my uncle and have by rehabbing the property for the past several years. We built an Adirondack Style leanto here in 2019 and have been cleaning up the campground area for the past two years. While Camp Forever will never become a "campground" again, I am thrilled to once again be able to share this unique property with anyone seeking good times in nature with family and friends. The host was friendly and very welcoming, without being intrusive. The property was beautiful and serene. Our spot was right on the creek and had water and electric hookups. There was a walking trail on the property that led to a lake that we unfortunately did not get to enjoy due to other plans. There was a bathroom available, which is always a plus. The camp was easy to locate and was within 15 minute drive of a walmart and other businesses.

We would've just preferred to know before the booking how many mosquitoes there would be. It is impossible to stay outside, you're instantly surrounded by thousands of them.

We pulled into the spot at night, it was easy to find and perfectly level. That is all I knew when I went to sleep. In the morning, I woke up, pulled down the window shade, and had a beautiful view of multiple horses ~100 meters away. Spectacular. The water was easy to access, but the 50A power was accessible, and my shore power cord was too short. That was fine. I highly recommend this location!

Jo: is a great person and very strong one at that to be so independent and self-sustaining, I mean what a cool individual, and her work ethic is top tier. She was kind enough to take the time to show me the local Amish market and took me to the church that her and her friends are working on and it was really impressive! Papa Joe's pizza was her recommendation for the local food spot and I have to agree that the Pizza was pretty incredible. It was like $8 for 2 cheese slabs and a drink. Mohawk, NY is nearby and it has a lot of historical significances and there is a cavern nearby and a diamond mine.
The land: was really nice. It's almost the only treelined property in the entire area because most of the properties are amish owned and operated farms. If you want fresh unpasturized milk on tap it's just down the road! YOU WILL HAVE TO HIKE TO CAMP as a disclosure, but once you get there it's well worth it and feels very secluded.
I will definitely visit again and I highly recommened Jo and her land if you're in the area. She's yet to rent out all the sites at once so let's make that happen hipcampers! If you're worried or concered she won't be able to accomodate just reach out and I'm sure she will accomodate you. The toilet is a composting style and you will need to bring your own privacy tent or take it down trail. She has egg krate style wagons for you to haul your gear from the parking area to the camp sites.

Weekend Trip to Mt Baker Tiny Cabin
We really enjoyed the comfortable off-grid experience offered by the Mt. Baker cabin. Despite the unseasonably cool temps, the hosts provided extra bedding and we had no trouble staying warm and comfy throughout our stay. The location was great with much to do within a 5 minute drive, and access to 30-1 hour hiking and sight-seeing destinations.

The whole property was extremely beautiful. Our site by the quarry was large and secluded among the slate piles and trees. Very peaceful and quiet, except for the many birds!! Heather was welcoming and set us up with an abundance of wood and spring water. We saw lots of wildlife, including a porcupine, on the site. Definitely hope to come back!!
