Sweeping pastoral hillsides mixed with densely wooded private acres make our camps unique, each one offering a different experience. A developed network of our own marked trails for exploring, our private red slate swimming quarry with docks and seating, and catch release fishing at 2 ponds are a few things to enjoy here. Slate Valley Trails and Merck Forest are close by. Places to picnic, enjoy the sunset, and idle are a plenty. Our farm stand is stocked with seasonal produce, jams, eggs, and bagged ice. Spring water is available. Excellent locally burgers, steaks, chicken and more are available.

Camp Forever is a very special 45 acre property, located within the Adirondack Blue Line. It has been in my family since the early 30's. My grandfather carved a small campground out of the woods that he ran from the early 70's until the mid-80's. Some of my earliest and best childhood memories are from time I spent at the camp. In the mid-80's, my Uncle took Camp Forever over and ran it until around 2014. As a small private campground for over four decades, Camp Forever became a special place for many families from Quebec and from the local area.
My family and I recently purchased Camp Forever from my uncle and have by rehabbing the property for the past several years. We built an Adirondack Style leanto here in 2019 and have been cleaning up the campground area for the past two years. While Camp Forever will never become a "campground" again, I am thrilled to once again be able to share this unique property with anyone seeking good times in nature with family and friends. Come see why this place has been so special and important to my family and many others since the 70's and why it will continue to be a place where people can camp forever.

This off-the-grid tiny house is nestled on a 23 acre parcel at the end of a quarter-mile dirt road. The property itself is secluded but is less than 2 miles from the heart of Saranac Lake's downtown. This property is bordered by the Saranac River, the backside of Baker Mountain and State Forest. The only other building on the property is our timberframe which we may or may not be at during the time of your visit. The property does have private trails up to the cliffs on the backside of Baker mtn however, the Saranac River is down a steep embankment so it does not make for a good place to launch a boat (several public boat launches nearby).
The Mt Baker tiny house is a great basecamp for hiking the Saranac Lake 6-ers, paddling/boating along the Saranac Chain of lakes or Saranac River, Mountain Biking at Dewey, Pisgah or other nearby BETA trails.
IMPORTANT DETAILS:
This tiny cabin is completely off the grid: no electricity, heat or cooling.

As far as we know, this land has been occupied since shortly after the civil war. It is actually two farms, combined into one around 1900. The main farmhouse was built out of the logs they cleared in 1879, and there are old foundations of the other original farm houses/barns as well. All over the property (now woods) there are piles of stones that the original inhabitants pulled from the fields. The second farm house was built in 1901. Most of the total 240 acres were cleared pasture land at that time. During the twenties and thirties the property was owned by an industrious couple from the City that lovingly turned it into more of a "rustic retreat"; damming a pond, planting ornamentals and upgrading the buildings. There have been many owners over the years, but we are proud to say it has been with us the longest. Our family bought it in 1961 and we have been trying to be good stewards ever since. Come and visit our little patch of wilderness!

Conveniently located between the St Lawrence Seaway and the foothill Adirondacks there are lots or opportunities for outdoor recreation. There are plenty of hikes for all abilities and duration. If paddling is more your thing our county has 3 of the 10 longest rivers in NYS along with lakes and reservoirs. There are also nearby mountain bike trails, and we are not far from the St Lawrence County Multi Use Trail. While there are many interesting and interactive destinations close by, larger cultural destinations such as Ottawa or Montreal make great day trips.

Fantastic spot. Fantastic location. Fantastic value. While rustic (it is a lean to after all) the location alone makes this as special as the other reviews say. You’ve got forest, fields and miles of river. Walking trails and a pit toilet. Chairs. A fire pit. Not much to dislike here. Chris is helpful, accommodating and hospitable. A very spec Al farm and and a very special place. And yes you do have to walk down the hill to get riverside. And yes it’s steep but marked clearly. But not a place for those with mobility issues if you want river access. There is a larger screen house on the property that is better situated along the river. If you want to fish the creek you’re in an amazing spot.

What a special place! My pup and I stayed in the Hemlock Cabin, super cozy over two nights of rain. When it cleared during the day, we enjoyed long walks on the trails through the property. Sarah and Doug were excellent hosts, ensuring I had all I needed to be comfortable. Looking forward to returning!

It was a beautiful farm with a wonderful host. I enjoyed the peace and quiet watching the deer play listening to the running water of the creek and I was able to catch up reading books and magazines and getting schoolwork done. Incredible views of the mountains from our campsite. We even had visitors (horses) on multiple occasions. (There was an electric fence that they couldn't cross but they were super friendly and appreciated the attention!) Proximity to the 87 meant lots of road noise but it didn't bother us too much. Would definitely visit again!

Nice base camp to explore the area. Lots of bike trail opportunities. Great preserves and parks to explore. Definitely check out the two preserves on the island. Wade’s place is nice with a good sky area. It is nestled in woods so were buffered nicely from the wind. Picnic table is always appreciated. Supplied first night firewood. There are two sites that share the outhouse which is located on the edge of the site we stayed in. But, we were the only campers so we didn’t have anyone popping over. Nice local markets nearby. And a pizza shop up the street. Would stay again.
