A developed network of our own marked trails for exploring, our private red slate swimming quarry with docks and seating, and catch release fishing at 2 ponds are a few things to enjoy here. Slate Valley Trails and Merck Forest are close by. Places to picnic, enjoy the sunset, and idle are a plenty. Our farm stand is stocked with seasonal produce, jams, eggs, and bagged ice. Spring water is available. Excellent locally burgers, steaks, chicken and more are available as pre-order EXTRAS.

This home is approximately 380 square feet of living space with an attached porch. It has room for 2 cars or a truck and a boat. It has a grill and the firepit in the front yard on the gorgeous patio with the best view of the lake!! This unit is a 2 bedroom unit with a king in one bedroom and a twin over a pull out full size futon bed. It has a loft that fits 2 adults, a table that can be turned into a bed and a pull out futon bed in the living room.
Guest access
You will be able to use the area directly in front of your stay. You are also welcome to use the area in the middle of the front lawn of the park for games. Feel free to use the lake and our rocky beach directly in front of the park and down the hill.
Other things to note
This stay is located in a small park in a small town in the Adirondack Coast.
*Within 20 miles you will find, bike/walking trails, some mountain climbing, wineries, beaches, gyms, trails for winter riding, and some larger shopping stores.
*You will need to travel up to an hour if you want amusement parks, lots of shopping, nightlife etc.
*Please ask if you have any questions about certain activities etc. nearby and we will be sure to help answer your questions! If you're looking for a small town getaway to enjoy outdoor activities or just relax we are just what you're looking for!
*Part of living in the country is that you may also get a visit from occasional spiders, earwigs or flies. (Although we do our best to spray regularly so this does not happen) Please let us know if you have any problems.
*Our water is tested regularly and is safe to drink but it is also hard water with some iron. We do have a filter system but you may occasionally notice some particles when using ice or drinking water but this is safe.

Come stay in our 1880s vintage summer cottage, built as a studio by a Keene Valley artist on a secluded and elevated spot in the center of the Adirondacks' High Peaks. It has a gorgeous view of Giant, Hopkins and Spread Eagle mountains. The summer cottage overlooks a cliff and is a few hundred yards from the nearest house, a classic Adirondack camp that shares its driveway but can't be seen. Even so, it is within walking distance of the village of Keene Valley,. Hikers love it because it's a 25-minute walk to The Garden, one of the largest and most popular trailheads in the Adirondacks that has very little parking.
The cottage has a huge covered porch (not screened) that looks out on the mountains and functions as an outdoor dining room with a view. The accommodations are rustic but comfortable: a bedroom with a double bed; a kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker; washer/dryer; a bathroom with a shower/bath; and a large sitting room with a stone fireplace and a futon that sleeps two. There is a one-room cabin nearby (also available for rent) with a screened porch that is perfect for sleeping in the summer.

The bespoke wooden Tower boasts 360 degree views of the surroundings. It is built on piers and has windows on the perimeter. A large table, outdoor chairs on the 2nd Level platform is an ideal space for gathering or picnicking. The 3rd enclosed level is furnished with a built in brand new queen bed and long custom built-in couch with a bar table and 4 chairs. Small fridge and Fan on site. No Bathroom in Tower.
The Cabin is fully equipped, applianced, and is furnished with a Full Bed in the Loft, 2 Twins in a Trundle Daybed, and a Cot and Blow Up are available. Full Kitchen, Shower, Toilet in the Bathroom. There is electric heat, AC and a ceiling fan. Kitchen is fully loaded and there are plenty of clean linens, blankets, and pillows.
The 40 Acres are Pastured and Open but Wooded all around in every direction. There are no cut trails at the Retreat and as it is thickly wooded, we encourage our guests to come visit us at Slateville Farm where we have over 8 miles of our own trails, swimming holes, and our ever flowing cold spring. Enjoy any of the many national park trails within the Green Mountains or Adirondacks. Lake George, Merck Forest, Schroon Lake, Lake St. Catherine, Bomoseen are all nearby as well as the Battenkill River and the Mettowee for fishing. If you are a winter visitor, plenty of ski resorts are a little over an hour away like Stratton, Bromely, Okemo, or Killington to name a few.

The space
This home is approximately 380 square feet of living space with an attached porch. It has room for 2 cars or a truck and a boat. It has a grill and the firepit in the front yard on the gorgeous patio with the best view of the lake!! This unit is a 2 bedroom unit with a king in one bedroom and a twin over a pull out full size futon bed. It has a loft that fits 2 adults, a table that can be turned into a bed and a pull out futon bed in the living room.
Guest access
You will be able to use the area directly in front of your stay. You are also welcome to use the area in the middle of the front lawn of the park for games. Feel free to use the lake and our rocky beach directly in front of the park and down the hill.
Other things to note
This stay is located in a small park in a small town in the Adirondack Coast.
*Within 20 miles you will find, bike/walking trails, some mountain climbing, wineries, beaches, gyms, trails for winter riding, and some larger shopping stores.
*You will need to travel up to an hour if you want amusement parks, lots of shopping, nightlife etc.
*Please ask if you have any questions about certain activities etc. nearby and we will be sure to help answer your questions! If you're looking for a small town getaway to enjoy outdoor activities or just relax we are just what you're looking for!
*Part of living in the country is that you may also get a visit from occasional spiders, earwigs or flies. (Although we do our best to spray regularly so this does not happen) Please let us know if you have any problems.
*Our water is tested regularly and is safe to drink but it is also hard water with some iron. We do have a filter system but you may occasionally notice some particles when using ice or drinking water but this is safe.

Come stay in our 1880s vintage summer cottage, built as a studio by a Keene Valley artist on a secluded and elevated spot in the center of the Adirondacks' High Peaks. It has a gorgeous view of Giant, Hopkins and Spread Eagle mountains. The summer cottage overlooks a cliff and is a few hundred yards from the nearest house, a classic Adirondack camp that shares its driveway but can't be seen. Even so, it is within walking distance of the village of Keene Valley,. Hikers love it because it's a 25-minute walk to The Garden, one of the largest and most popular trailheads in the Adirondacks that has very little parking.
The cottage has a huge covered porch (not screened) that looks out on the mountains and functions as an outdoor dining room with a view. The accommodations are rustic but comfortable: a bedroom with a double bed; a kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker; washer/dryer; a bathroom with a shower/bath; and a large sitting room with a stone fireplace and a futon that sleeps two. Enjoy any of the many national park trails within the Green Mountains or Adirondacks. Lake George, Merck Forest, Schroon Lake, Lake St. Catherine, Bomoseen are all nearby as well as the Battenkill River and the Mettowee for fishing. If you are a winter visitor, plenty of ski resorts are a little over an hour away like Stratton, Bromely, Okemo, or Killington to name a few.

My family (7 year old daughter, husband and dog) had the most wonderful time tent camping at the Hops site on Heather and Paul's beautiful farm. It's such a special, expansive place with so many cool spots to hike to within the farm that we didn't feel like we needed to leave the property. We loved the peace and privacy of the Hops site but next time we'd like to try to Oak tree site which has stunning views. My daughter loved drinking directly from the spring behind Heather's house, and visiting the pergola near dusk. The highland cows against the backdrop of rolling hills and the beautiful slate structures look like paintings. I'd definitely recommend taking the tour of the property to orient yourself. Heather is a lovely person and a knowledgeable and engaging host.

This campground is easy to park with a convenient bathroom and showers that are fairly clean. Toilets were cleaned both mornings. The last shower stall is large enough to get clothes away from shower area. The shower heads are intelligently placed facing toward the back wall and there was plenty of hot water. The washer and dryer are reasonably priced. We were there late in the season and they were doing some work with chain saws. Perhaps in preparation for the next season. Absolutely no managerial people spoke to us and the office was closed when we arrived. We just went to our reserved site.

Stayed at the Oak Tree Site on Heather’s land and I can’t recommend it enough! The site the peaceful, secluded, and on the opposite side of the road and up the hill away from the main farmhouse and other sites. The site had a picnic table, fire pit, a grate to cook over the fire, a charcoal grill, and an outhouse. The site is an open area with a beautiful view of the Milky Way on a clear night. Make sure you’re driving a 4x4 vehicle up to the site - bit of a climb. Heather is a lovely host and is available for any questions or recommendations - lovely hiking trails onsite (go sit at the quarry!)

Heather provided us with the perfect getaway weekend! Her farm is so beautiful and she is a wonderful hostess! The Hops site was very private and peaceful. The outdoor seating and firepit made it so easy to relax and enjoy the fall evenings. The hiking trails that they have made are great to explore. We also took advantage of the outdoor shower which was such a nice experience. Even the outhouse was comfortable and meticulously maintained, and this is coming from someone who normally tries to avoid them. Last and certainly not least, we are still enjoying some of the home-grown/homemade treats from her farm stand, and cannot wait to return to Slateville. Thank you to Heather and Paul for such a great weekend!

The place is magical, quiet, and absolutely beautiful. Waking up to that view in the morning was such a treat!

I loved staying here, waking up each morning to coffee and the view of the mountains was exactly what I was looking for. From the cabin I was able to walk to multiple trailheads and begin hiking. I am still not over the views at this campground and never will be 😭😍 my husband and I went on our anniversary trip this past weekend and waking up to the mountains and seeing sunset every day was beyond a dream. Sarah’s horses were so sweet and friendly too, and they even came right up to the fence when we were sitting there one day. And on another note, SHE HAS THE 👏🏻 NICEST 👏🏻 OUTHOUSE 👏🏻🤣 it has a light and is clean as a whistle 😂😂😂😂 in addition, Sarah answered our questions speedily and recommended some hiking spots in the Adirondack Mountains. We stayed at camp site #2 for reference and saw the views in the pics below 😍anybody would enjoy their time at Saddle Hill:)
