The Enchanted Circle Campground sits on the Avalon Ranch. It is 161 owned acres surrounded by a state trust lease. We are very proud to have been voted #1 Campground in NM 4 years in a row and ranked Top 5 by Forbes in the country.
We have 8 Sites to choose from. (No large RVs at 4, 7 or 8) Campfires are permitted, and pets are welcome. Free potable water is available as well as a portable toilet.
For cooking, you will have a fire pit, with a cast iron grill. Every site (but 7) has a standing charcoal grill, with tongs, a spatula and a grill brush. A fire extinguisher and a shovel. We hang a hand washing jug at every site for your convenience, with potable water, but do not suggest this for drinking water source.
The property was originally homesteaded in 1893. It was also the first potato farm in NM. It has seven ground-fed springs that run year-round and is officially the Coyote Creeks Headwaters. The springs converge after filling 4 of our ponds in the marshland where the potatoes were grown. A family of 4 lived in the first dwelling built here, not much larger than a shed. Since that time, 2 homes, 1 of which still stands, a barn, a smokehouse, and 4 other outbuildings were constructed. There are old wagons and farm equipment from the late 1800s and early 1900's still strewn about the ranch.
We are home to Huge herds of Elk, mule deer, turkeys, prairie dogs, eagles, black bears, 9 horses, chickens, pigs, goats, our 2 dogs and 4 cats, and the occasional Mountain Lion.
We live here year-round. We love our land and want to share it with others.
I am a Veteran and our intent is to eventually have a Veterans Retreat facility here. Not a retreat itself, but rather a location for all of the retreats, nationwide, to be able to utilize, so they can use the funds they have to do what they do best. You are helping to make that possible.
We do pride ourselves on minimally impacting our land. We strive to keep it clean and as close to nature as we can.

Lush high desert river oasis nestled in a fertile valley in the Carson National
Forest right between the fiery expanse of Taos and the rolling colorful formations of Abiquiu. Peaceful and private 3 acres right by the river at the edge of a little quaint town called La Madera (145 people)- just 6 miles to the healing mineral Hot Springs of Ojo Caliente, a place of emergence or rebirth as known to the local Natives.
I have a Vintage Camper that can be heated, with kitchen, electricity and plenty of outdoor furniture with a fire pit and serene mountain views. As well as a Gazebo Tree shaded campsite for tents only, with fire pit, outdoor seating and the tranquil sounds of the gently flowing river. If you would like to bring your own camper/or tent we have a willow brush enclosed meadow with stunning views. Some campsites have access to a guest bathroom inside the main house, the others have private outhouses.
Right by the river, held by a ridge (that makes for amazing sunset hikes), I have a campsite for several people that will be available once our bridge is finished- est. end of April '26. As well as a Gypsy Wagon with electric, water and kitchen.

Two Hawk Ranch is comprised of 12 acres of high mountain valley meadows, hay fields, Acequias, trees and the Rio Chiquito. Yes, we are located at approximately 7,800ft elevation. My husband and I stumbled across this beautiful and serene property by accident in 2020 just as Covid hit. We feel blessed to be here and feel the need to share it’s calming, restful qualities. We have three adult children and have three grandchildren. We also have eight international children as we hosted international students for four years. You are welcome to come sit by the fire and be social or just do your own thing.

Sites located across the property for up to 8 groups. The RV camping is located near one of our horse corrals and above our irrigation Acequia, above or next to the house, or in the field down by the arena after haying is complete (usually after the first week of July as long as the rain cooperates). Can back in or pull through and has 110v power nearby. No water to hook up to, but we can fill your tanks via hose by the house or arena. Other sites available if you don’t need power, or have a generator.
Property is within a 100yds of national forest service that gives access to off-roading, hiking, biking, horse riding, fishing, and winter snowshoeing, cross country skiing, etc. We are located just off the High Road to Taos in Llano, 29 miles south of Taos and 55 miles north of Santa Fe. We are eight miles from Ski Sipapu and eight miles from Rio Santa Barbara Canyon.
Your well-behaved pets are welcome. We also have one great dane (Raggy), a great dane mix (The Morrigan), one ranch cat (Sasha) and four horses (Gentry, Shadow, Mattie & Jr G). The dogs are a rescue of some kind. The Morrigan is black, 3.5 yrs old and comes out of a rescue in AZ. She went in with her litter as a 5 month old puppy, and she came here about a year later. She is reticent and suspicious, so ignore her and she will come up to you on her own; continue to ignore her. Ragnar (Raggy) is our most recent rescue and is from Las Cruces. He's 3 yrs old and a merle. He suffers from anxiety and fears children. We are working him through his fears, and he is doing really well.
The weather here tends to run cooler, as we are located in the mountains in a small valley at approximately 7,800 ft above sea level. In the spring through fall, temps will average from mid 40°F up to mid 60°F at night and mid 60°F up to mid 90°F during the day. Temps can get into the 100°F's in the summer, but that is rare. Generally if the sun is out, it is warm or hot even tho the actual temps are not. It's a high-altitude affect. The opposite is true as well. Cloud cover will feel cooler. We also experience monsoon style rains that occur in the afternoon generally starting in July and running into August or later.
In the late fall through early spring during winter, the average temps usually run from 0°F up to mid 20°F at night with occasional dips into negative temps and in the day generally run from mid 20°F up to the mid 40°F range. Same as above - if the sun is out, it will feel warmer, etc.
We do hay the fields, so we may have tractor activity going on in the late spring and early summer. In the winter we will be clearing snow from the roads and feeding hay.

13 miles to the east of us is the Town of Red River where there are so many different activities taking place throughout the summer, fall, winter, and spring months. 25 miles to the south of Questa is the Town of Taos which also provides many different activities. The Gorge Bridge just west of Taos provides for some excitement 650 feet above the Rio Grande. Taos Pueblo our nearest indigenous have lived in these mountains and landscape surrounding for longer than a 1000 years. Lots of history here. And the Town of Taos comes with its artsy atmosphere and very delicious restaurants. And last but not least, Taos Ski Valley, impeccable ski/snowboard destination. Join us at Cuesta Verde.

The Enchanted Circle Campground sits on the Avalon Ranch. It is 161 owned acres surrounded by a state trust lease. We are very proud to have been voted #1 Campground in NM 4 years in a row and ranked Top 5 by Forbes in the country.
We have 8 Sites to choose from. (No large RVs at 4, 7 or 8) Campfires are permitted, and pets are welcome. Free potable water is available as well as a portable toilet.
For cooking, you will have a fire pit, with a cast iron grill. Every site (but 7) has a standing charcoal grill, with tongs, a spatula and a grill brush. A fire extinguisher and a shovel. We hang a hand washing jug at every site for your convenience, with potable water, but do not suggest this for drinking water source.
The property was originally homesteaded in 1893. It was also the first potato farm in NM. It has seven ground-fed springs that run year-round and is officially the Coyote Creeks Headwaters. The springs converge after filling 4 of our ponds in the marshland where the potatoes were grown. A family of 4 lived in the first dwelling built here, not much larger than a shed. Since that time, 2 homes, 1 of which still stands, a barn, a smokehouse, and 4 other outbuildings were constructed. There are old wagons and farm equipment from the late 1800s and early 1900's still strewn about the ranch.
We are home to Huge herds of Elk, mule deer, turkeys, prairie dogs, eagles, black bears, 9 horses, chickens, pigs, goats, our 2 dogs and 4 cats, and the occasional Mountain Lion.
We live here year-round. We love our land and want to share it with others.
I am a Veteran and our intent is to eventually have a Veterans Retreat facility here. Not a retreat itself, but rather a location for all of the retreats, nationwide, to be able to utilize, so they can use the funds they have to do what they do best. You are helping to make that possible.
We do pride ourselves on minimally impacting our land. We strive to keep it clean and as close to nature as we can.

Lush high desert river oasis nestled in a fertile valley in the Carson National
Forest right between the fiery expanse of Taos and the rolling colorful formations of Abiquiu. Peaceful and private 3 acres right by the river at the edge of a little quaint town called La Madera (145 people)- just 6 miles to the healing mineral Hot Springs of Ojo Caliente, a place of emergence or rebirth as known to the local Natives.
I have a Vintage Camper that can be heated, with kitchen, electricity and plenty of outdoor furniture with a fire pit and serene mountain views. As well as a Gazebo Tree shaded campsite for tents only, with fire pit, outdoor seating and the tranquil sounds of the gently flowing river. If you would like to bring your own camper/or tent we have a willow brush enclosed meadow with stunning views. Some campsites have access to a guest bathroom inside the main house, the others have private outhouses.
Right by the river, held by a ridge (that makes for amazing sunset hikes), I have a campsite for several people that will be available once our bridge is finished- est. end of April '26. As well as a Gypsy Wagon with electric, water and kitchen.

Two Hawk Ranch is comprised of 12 acres of high mountain valley meadows, hay fields, Acequias, trees and the Rio Chiquito. Yes, we are located at approximately 7,800ft elevation. My husband and I stumbled across this beautiful and serene property by accident in 2020 just as Covid hit. We feel blessed to be here and feel the need to share it’s calming, restful qualities. We have three adult children and have three grandchildren. We also have eight international children as we hosted international students for four years. You are welcome to come sit by the fire and be social or just do your own thing.

Sites located across the property for up to 8 groups. The RV camping is located near one of our horse corrals and above our irrigation Acequia, above or next to the house, or in the field down by the arena after haying is complete (usually after the first week of July as long as the rain cooperates). Can back in or pull through and has 110v power nearby. No water to hook up to, but we can fill your tanks via hose by the house or arena. Other sites available if you don’t need power, or have a generator.
Property is within a 100yds of national forest service that gives access to off-roading, hiking, biking, horse riding, fishing, and winter snowshoeing, cross country skiing, etc. We are located just off the High Road to Taos in Llano, 29 miles south of Taos and 55 miles north of Santa Fe. We are eight miles from Ski Sipapu and eight miles from Rio Santa Barbara Canyon.
Your well-behaved pets are welcome. We also have one great dane (Raggy), a great dane mix (The Morrigan), one ranch cat (Sasha) and four horses (Gentry, Shadow, Mattie & Jr G). The dogs are a rescue of some kind. The Morrigan is black, 3.5 yrs old and comes out of a rescue in AZ. She went in with her litter as a 5 month old puppy, and she came here about a year later. She is reticent and suspicious, so ignore her and she will come up to you on her own; continue to ignore her. Ragnar (Raggy) is our most recent rescue and is from Las Cruces. He's 3 yrs old and a merle. He suffers from anxiety and fears children. We are working him through his fears, and he is doing really well.
The weather here tends to run cooler, as we are located in the mountains in a small valley at approximately 7,800 ft above sea level. In the spring through fall, temps will average from mid 40°F up to mid 60°F at night and mid 60°F up to mid 90°F during the day. Temps can get into the 100°F's in the summer, but that is rare. Generally if the sun is out, it is warm or hot even tho the actual temps are not. It's a high-altitude affect. The opposite is true as well. Cloud cover will feel cooler. We also experience monsoon style rains that occur in the afternoon generally starting in July and running into August or later.
In the late fall through early spring during winter, the average temps usually run from 0°F up to mid 20°F at night with occasional dips into negative temps and in the day generally run from mid 20°F up to the mid 40°F range. Same as above - if the sun is out, it will feel warmer, etc.
We do hay the fields, so we may have tractor activity going on in the late spring and early summer. In the winter we will be clearing snow from the roads and feeding hay.

Cuesta Verde is 7 miles from the wild rivers recreation area which provides many different activities which include hiking to the bottom of the canyon where individuals can experience a whole different atmosphere with the mighty Rio Grande running along the bottom. Many biking trails mountain and Road provide for adventurous fun. And don’t forget to look up at our beautiful mountains and landscape surrounding this area.
13 miles to the east of us is the Town of Red River where there are so many different activities taking place throughout the summer, fall, winter, and spring months. Ski lift provides breaths of fresh air throughput the summer months and an abundance of snow throughout the winter months provides some class A skiing.
25 miles to the south of Questa is the Town of Taos which also provides many different activities. The Gorge Bridge just west of Taos provides for some excitement 650 feet above the Rio Grande. Taos Pueblo our nearest indigenous have lived in these mountains and landscape surrounding for longer than a 1000 years. Lots of history here. And the Town of Taos comes with its artsy atmosphere and very delicious restaurants. And last but not least, Taos Ski Valley, impeccable ski/snowboard destination. Join us at Cuesta Verde.

As we were only staying one night, we were not able to engage in the tour of the farm which has some interesting practices. The bathhouse was GREAT, spacious warm hot shower! The grounds are nice and a friendly dog to match.

We had a very nice stay at Harmony. It is super convenient to town, and we enjoyed visiting with our host, Anastasia. The bath house is very nice, and contains toilets and showers. It opens mid March. Not sure when it closes. We have a completely self contained small rv and this place was perfect, as we do not need electricity or wifi. We wanted to be close to town and not have to be at a commercial campground. We will be back!

Great communication, lovely peaceful property. Susanne has several "living rooms" set up all outside; around the campsite, in a small meadow, but the river. All are comfortable and in a beautiful place. It was so quiet with nothing but the birds and insect and visits from the neighbors dogs. A terrific place to relax.

Daniel was very nice and helpful and it was great to be able to walk to town to catch some music and dinner so I’d definitely recommend staying here. Site 2 worked for my van. My only complaint is that it would be nice if there was a cleared area so you’re not stepping out into overgrown woody grass.

Kelly + her partner saved my 🍑 with a last minute reservation bc my other campsite fell thru. I texted Kelly about the late arrival after dark and she responded immediately and also had her husband come out and direct me onto the site. He was incredibly welcoming and showed me where the electric hookup was.
The property was difficult to find in the dark, but that's just due to the pitch black of the area. Doesn't help cell service is spotty. But again, Kelly + hubby for the win helping me arrive!
The only thing I wasn't expecting was how close to the road I was on the property, so you can hear vehicles (and some chickens) in the AM. The nighttime sky and stars were worth it though!

While the site, right on the highway, was not spacious or “park-like”, it was great for our needs for an a short overnight stop. It has electric and WiFi, was level for our 23’ RV, and there was very little road noise. Kelly responded immediately and offered all kinds of advice for activities and food. Eduardo came right out to welcome us and help us settle. He was great to chat with and also gave us good tips for our time in the area. Great hosts! I would not hesitate to stop here again.

Close to TSV and the sweet little village of Arroyo Seco but far enough away from neighbors and roads to feel secluded. Panoramic views par excellence! Don was great with communique and super helpful. Would not hesitate to stay again. Could use one more Hipcamp sign when reaching the field to reassure bleary eyed travelers :)

I love the view from spot one…especially at sunset…the rose light glowing onto the mountain peaks is really delicious. Kelly is so joyful about this property and about hosting, so that makes one feel at ease and welcome. It is near the road, so it’s not a middle-of-nowhere vibe, but it’s really beautiful and conveniently close to so much that one would want to see while in enchanted New Mexico. Highly recommend.

Great private campsite just a short drive from downtown Taos. Has a little setup for a tent, fire pit, and area for kitchen / cleaning with a port a potty as well.
Don was super responsive and even gave us some firewood to make a lovely fire at night. Would definitely stay again! I recommend getting to the site during the day as it’s a dirt road and would be a bit tricky to find at night- Don helped with directions as well.

We loved our time here! Kelly and Armando were exceptionally helpful, kind, fabulous recs for the area and communciation was top notch. Spot #2 has fabulous views and was easy to access. Yes, there is road noice as mentioned, but it is inconsistent and nominal. Their Hipcamp is central to many Taos shops, restaurants, hikes/parks, and a great place to just chill. The stars, sunsets, and darkness at night were ideal. Staying here allowed us to explore Taos for the first time and we would definitely reccommend and would return!!

A perfect place if you want a central location to explore the different areas of Carson National Forest (CNF) like we did. Allows you an hour drive in any direction to any portion of CNF while providing a beautiful base camp that yields isolation and tranquility in the midst of humbling views in all directions.
Alia is a Phenomenal host, very accommodating, super cool, responsive and down to earth.
If you are a self sufficient person that has everything you need and just wants to share someone’s plot of paradise, this is the place for you. Freaking awesome.

We stayed in spot 2 with our 30 ft and had plenty of room! Gorgeous views and impeccably clean spaces and the cleanest Porta potty I've ever seen. We had a blast and the hosts were so incredibly kind and knowledgeable. We will absolutely be back and recommend to anyone that will listen!
