Sacred Nectar Sanctuary

Simply the best tenting you can find in the White Mountains. The campground to get away from campgrounds, where magic touches every corner. Sacred Nectar rests on the land of the Wabanaki Tribes. This land, now known by it's view gifting fields, is one of Sandwich's top treasured gems. The Historic Farm was purchased by Townsend Thorndike from the first colonizing family to claim ownership of this unceded land, the McCrillis family. It was Town's place to get away from the busy life. As time went on and his money dwindled and plans to sell off some of the land arose. Townsend's son, Nick, foresaw a devastating development of conventional homes that would diminish the soul of this sacred land that held so much magic. So, Nick decided to move back to the homestead to create an example of what a healthy life for the land and its inhabitants looks like. HipCamp was the first step towards sharing and opening up the land to create an Intentional lifestyle. One in which we hope to share our way of being that brings awareness to the natural world we have fallen so far from. Nick and his tribe of like minds are creating a holistic, educational, retreat, workshop, and event center where people can come to learn how to co-exist in a harmonious relationship with nature and each other. Thank you for being a part of the healing. We hope you enjoy what we have created here :)

For an even more immersive nature experience, The Orchard on Apple Hill road is ready for your tent or hammock, along with an outdoor kitchen, two hot showers and compost toilets, picnic tables and firepit, and propane cooking burners. The Orchard's solar kit can charge your equipment and boil a kettle for your hot morning cup. The Pond on The Hillside is open to guests for swimming or skating at the case may be. Firewood is included with all sites, so please don't travel with firewood as it's a great way to transport forest-devastating invasive insects. Hikers are welcome to wander along old logging roads through our sugarbush, and along trails throughout the remainder of the property (300+ ac. total) where there are numerous springs and creeks, mystical softwoods, expansive grassy fields, and a wild apple orchard. Moose, deer, and bear tracks are common, but animal encounters are not - still, please sequester your food accordingly and be mindful to carry out scraps or place them in lidded containers provided. Reach out to us to reserve a few precious hours in our wood-fired hot tub, rent snowshoes, or schedule a maple tour and tasting at our saphouse. Private Farmstead Cabin Glamping

4. Private Farmstead Cabin Glamping

42mi from Gorham · 2 sites · Lodging
Experience ultimate relaxation in a quiet, peaceful wooded setting on a 22-acre farmstead in the beautiful foothills of western Maine. There are two private glampsites, one off-grid cabin located 500-feet from our farmstead and the other a charming cottage with electricity, located in the heart of the property. We offer farmstead tours to visit our lush gardens and meet our herd of five super friendly Nigerian Dwarf goats, three pigs and flock of laying hens. (Fresh eggs and veggies from the garden are offered when available.) A pristine lake with excellent swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding is less than two miles away. Reading and napping in the hammock is highly recommended. The night skies are dark, so plan for dreamy stargazing in the zero gravity chairs. Hike into the hills on well-maintained logging roads. Both cabins are made from pine trees that once stood on-site and have comfy queen-sized beds with luxurious bedding. Enjoy cooking over the campfire or in the fully equipped screened-in outdoor kitchens with two-burner gas stoves and grills. The glampsites include private outhouses and outdoor battery-powered showers. We provide amazing, mineral-rich drinking water from our ever-flowing spring and as much firewood as you need for campfires in the stone fire pits.

The SiloSide barn and homestead is better known around town as the "Old Somers Farm" in reference to the day when the barn housed 60 head of cows. The farm was a part of the Cabot Creamery Cooperative, and closed this era in the late 1980s. Prior to being a dairy farm consisting of over 500 acres, the property served as a tavern, inn, tannery, and has always been a traditional, well-loved farmhouse. Our farmhouse was built in 1785, and the barn built around the 1830s and expanded in 1941. The soil here is rich, and the forest full of wildlife. We've named our home "SiloSide" as tribute to the magic we feel on the non-road facing, silo-side of the barn, where you'll be camping.

This beautiful, historic property was one of the first to be settled in the early 1800s. The credited first settler in Charleston, Vermont; Abner Allyn and his family owned this farm for 100 years! Our family began restoring the farmhouse as well as beginning a small regenerative farming operation in 2022. Currently we have a small flock of broilers and layers, turkeys, ducks and guineas. Our birds are fed an organic feed local to Vermont and are pasture raised. Freya an Luna are the Great Pyrenees' about the farm. They protect the flocks from predators. They are working dogs and have access to the entire property. For this-and other reasons, we discourage bringing pets to the farm. A sweet brook meanders through the property which all sites have access to as well as stunning views of bald mountain. Lovely farm views throughout the seasons. Multiple trails for exploring can be found on and off farm. Trail heads to multiple mountains are within a few minutes of campsites. Lake Willoughby is a short 4 miles away, 7 miles to Island Pond, as well as endless hiking, biking, fishing, canoeing and more.

Carter's Cross Country Ski Center and Shop has been a family-owned business since 1984. The land on which the trails have been built on has been in the Carter family since the late 1700's. The first Carter who came to Bethel was the first doctor in the area that helped Mollyocket, a Native American medicine woman. All the different generations that came along after were either farmers or loggers or both. Carter's XC Ski Center is located on the banks of the Big Androscoggin River. Our private established skiing/walking trails meander through the Maine woods all the way up to Farwell Mountain, overlooking Sunday River Ski, the Presidential and Mahoosuc Mountain Ranges and Mt. Washington. Nearby is Middle Intervale Farm, owned by John Carter, who produces his own vegetables and meat. He has a small, self-serve farm stand right on Intervale Road, next to Carter's. Guests can enjoy the property's views and amenities, such as hiking, kayaking, canoeing, skiing, snowshoeing, biking, bird watching, and relaxing. Enjoy the peacefulness and tranquility in one of our three cabins in the Maine woods.

Please, NO pets! Thank you for reading this entire description for rules and directions on how to get to Hidden Brook. Hidden Brook is located on a small family-owned vegetable farm five minutes outside the village of Cornish, Maine. Three generations of farmers live here presently, but our family has been working this land since the mid 1700’s.  Cornish is a pretty special place to live and visit because we are about 50 minutes drive from both the city of Portland on the coast and the White Mountains to the west. There are tons of local hikes here in the foothills, two big rivers to float or paddle, dozens of swim spots, good fishing, and a lively little village with at least 7 antiques shops, local art, and some pretty darn good restaurants. Our neighborhood even hosts some of the best musicians in the world each July at The Ossippee Valley Music Festival. Yeah, we got it all going on! Come play with us or just chill at Hidden Brook. So far, we have one spot open for “glamping”, The Bus, but we will add the Wagon this fall. The Bus, an engineless 1973 Bluebird School bus is pretty pimped out. Though off the grid, cell reception is pretty good and rechargable lighting is provided. Our outdoor kitchen, on a spacious deck ( fenced in for kids ) includes a heavy duty propane stove, Yeti cooler and pots and pans. Indoors, there’s a slop-bucket sink for tooth-brushing (dishes are to be washed out on the deck ), a small woodstove to take off the chill come fall and a nice big fire pit outside. Wood is provided. Buses can get hot in summer, so we put ours in a shady little grove of ancient oaks amongst the remains of the farm’s original stonework and installed screens the full length of the bus. We built a compost-style outhouse and a beautiful outdoor shower we call “The Cold Drizzler” down in the old homestead cellar hole. Kind of a secret garden bathroom : ) Inside is a full-sized bed for one or two people and two cot-sized “75 long bunks, sleeping a total of four humans. Quality mattresses, sheets and blankets with a change of sheets and tons of pillows ought to provide a comfortable night’s sleep. Four towels and face cloths provided. Coffee and “pour-overs” on site as well as silverware, bowls and plates. All you really need is ice for the cooler and your food - or just go out to eat. Other things to note: Absolutely no smoking inside All shoes off before entering Quiet hours from 9:30 pm to 6:30 am ( we live in a small community and wish to respect our neighbors ) This is not a party camp, but a place to relax and listen to the birds. Please enjoy your music quietly. This is a working farm, but we will be as sensitive as possible when it comes to any loud machinery use like irrigation pumps and tractors while guests are around. Our dogs may visit, but are laid back once they have anounced your arrival. Directions to Hidden Brook and the Bus: You will be given directions to an address once you book but please make sure that you follow the signage to the bus carefully, otherwise you’ll end up at the wrong property. Drive until you see two giant, eyeballs attached to a telephone pole, and the bus will be immediately after that on your right. Thank you so much.

Get away from it all when you stay under the stars in our 3 season bell tent on Honey & Stem Flower Farm in Fryeburg, Maine. The tent is on a small raised platform, so you are less likely to get water underneath in the event of rain. With views of farm animals (and usually some deer) while sleeping in front of the open field across from the garden and ducks, enjoy a small getaway with the luxury of a real queen size bed (not a deflating air mattress!), while still getting that "off grid camping" experience. The field is not far from the road (Route 5), so you will inevitably hear the cars drive by. With solar lighting, rocking chairs, a small phone charging station, a fire pit, and a table for two, its the perfect camping set up where you don't actually have to set everything up! Bathroom: We will have a small bathroom tent set up with a bucket toilet for an emergency bathroom, but no formal portable toilet set up/ portable toilet. The woods are also a short walk from the tent spot, however we kindly ask that you properly dig and bury should you use this, as we do have 3 dogs of our own on the property. Please note: This is a working farm and there will be people working in the garden and feeding animals from 7 am to 6 pm daily. They will respect your privacy and maintain quiet hours until 8 am. We can't promise the Rooster or Sheep will keep quiet hours though. Please also note: Farm animals can be smelly, its all part of the farm experience, we do our best to maintain animal shelters to keep this smell at bay but some animals, like pigs, may be smelly regardless. We are happy to bring you coffee at 7:30 or 8 am at your request. We can leave this in a thermos on the small table by the tent (Refer to the coffee gift basket image). We offer a "breakfast basket, with a thermos of hot coffee or hot tea and a half dozen farm fresh eggs, We can accommodate sugar along with dairy free and regular creamer with an advanced request. We also offer a "smores" basket to purchase at your request If you'd like to purchase some farm fresh eggs or other produce, please just shoot us a message. Our farm stand is no longer located on the farm, but now at our secondary location in town Fryeburg, but we are happy to provide these elements to you and we actually keep a fridge in the Garden Shed, across from the tent location, which we can store items in for you at your request. We will have a small cooler available for your use upon request, just bring your own ice. We look forward to hosting you on our small Family Farm!
