This beautiful, historic property was one of the first to be settled in the early 1800s. The credited first settler in Charleston, Vermont; Abner Allyn and his family owned this farm for 100 years! Our family began restoring the farmhouse as well as beginning a small regenerative farming operation in 2022. Currently we have a laying flock of about 250 chickens. We pasture raise meat birds and pigs. Our animals are fed an organic feed local to Vermont and are pasture raised. Freya and Luna are the Great Pyrenees' about the farm. They protect the flocks and pigs from predators. They are working dogs and have access to the entire property. For this-and other reasons, we discourage bringing pets to the farm. A sweet brook meanders through the property which all sites have access to as well as stunning views of bald mountain. Lovely farm views throughout the seasons. Multiple trails for exploring can be found on and off farm. Trail heads to multiple mountains are within a few minutes of campsites. If safe to have campfires, we sell firewood to campers. Porta-potties are located 100 yards below the campsites.   Moose, bear, deer, coyote, snowshoe hares, grouse, woodcock, wild turkey and bobcat, can be seen occasionally as you explore this upland forest and the bottom lands heading down to the Victory Bog, a pristine wetland areas, known for canoeing, bird watching. Kayakers and campers can experience white white water during high water seasons on the Moose River which flows by the bog.   The access road to the campsites through the field is rough. Vehicles with extra clearance are recommended.   Campers should come prepared with fly, mosquito,  tick repellents without which you will be literally eaten alive in June and July. As private as private gets but only 6 miles to Newport Vt. There is a creek and a one acre pond (20 feet deep). It is all mixed hard and softwoods. It has some magnificent old growth trees 100 foot tall. There is a good rd that my friend has used with his Lincoln. Most any vehicle (car or Pickup)can get to the site. It gets a little tricky if you are pulling a trailer. A small one is OK but a large one - not so much....... The rd goes 1/2 mile to the rear of the land. Moose, deer and other critters visit too. We live 1/2 mile away from where you enter the woodlot. Our house is on Brownington Pond (200+ acres) & campers can use this site for swimming, boating & fishing. We are at the end of a dirt road with private access and stunning views of the surrounding mountains. If you decide to stay with us we can guarantee you your own private tent site to get away from it all, or a beautiful spot to park your van, car or small camper, all while still being only 10 minutes to the amenities of town, 15 minutes to world famous mountain biking at Kingdom Trails, or 20 minutes to breathtaking Lake Willoughby. Parking is less than a 1 minute walk from the platforms down a well maintained woods road and gorilla carts are available to help haul your gear. Maintaining a sustainable bear population in New Hampshire depends on minimizing human-bear conflicts. It is illegal to intentionally feed bears in New Hampshire. Intentional feeding can create problems within residential areas and can result in fines. It also may threaten the life of the bear, if it becomes a nuisance animal as a result of this feeding. Please keep your food in your car when you are not at the site and when you are sleeping. The property has views of Mount Martha and the Presidential Mountain Range. There are easy walking trails throughout the property. There is a field to play games; Soccer, wiffle ball, corn hole and yard croquet can be used. An outhouse compost toilet is available (bring your own TP). No showers or dump stations. Please do not dump grey/black water anywhere on the property. We allow small RVs, vans, and trailers under 24 ft. No 5th wheels. 4WD is recommended but not required. Garden carts are available, upon request, to haul gear if needed. Important to Know: No pets (we’re a working farm with chickens and farm dogs). Fires allowed only in designated pit. Bring firewood (or purchase from us) and always follow fire bans. Pack out your trash (small bin next to outhouse provided for cans/bottles). No cutting trees or using the large bonfire pile in the center of the field. Arrive before dark—there are no lights on site or along the field road. If muddy, you may need to park at the bottom of the access road. We rent to up to 3 groups per night, sites are first come, first serve. Our family farmhouse dates back to the 1850s, with five remaining acres including the barn, fields, and woods. We offer farm-fresh eggs and seasonal produce when available. Bears & Wildlife: This is bear country. Store all food, coolers, and scented items in your vehicle. Never keep food in your tent, and keep your campsite clean at all times. This site is best suited for those who enjoy a rustic, back-to-basics camping experience. If you love nature, starlit skies, and a peaceful setting with a touch of farm life, we’d love to share this special piece of land with you.

I booked last minute while hiking in the Whites, and they were incredibly accommodating which I really appreciated. Grateful for the stay and would absolutely come back 😊

Very peaceful, gorgeous views, spotless outhouse and cute little dish washing basin with drinking water. We loved this spot and wish we were staying longer. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Mormor and Grampy's Place

This spot was just what I was looking for as I explored the Mt. Washington area. I was able to hang my hammock in the trees and the area worked well to park my car (where I slept). If the spots were filled, campers would be much closer together but it was good with just 2 groups. I would stay there again if I were in the area! (Wear bug spray, I did not!)

Wandering Pines was one of my most favorite camp spots I've ever experienced, and I've camped all over the country. This slice of heaven is nestled back off the road, on acres of property, a ways outside of the sweetest small town. Far enough into nature that the stars and moon are magnificient but still an easy enough drive to town for necessities or a great dinner at one of the local spots. Julie and Dan are the most lovely hosts, fiendly, welcoming and helpful. The outhouse is adorable. The views are amazing. The family pup is the sweetest. Don't pass up a chance to stay here!

I can't say enough great things about my experience here! I've traveled and camped all over the country and this is by far one of my favorites. Julie and Dan are the most lovely hosts, they've made my stay welcoming and comfortable and their property is beautiful and peaceful. The trees surrounding the property have been my favorite to wake up to. This is my first real winter camping and it has been absolutely my most memorable camping experience. There's so much to do all around, you could never run out of activities to have fun with in all of the surrounding areas. If you're looking for a rad place to camp with awesome hosts and the sweetest pup, this is it! I can't wait to come back :)

Winter camping on Julie and Dan's land was amazing! We got to have beautiful views of the white mountains from our site. It was peaceful and private. Even the dog came by to say hello a few times, it was a treat. The outhouse is close by and we were able to charge our power banks during the day for our nighttime heater, a big bonus! Thank you for the hospitality!
