If the weather is better, and you want a more scenic way there with hiking -- take the 25 minute drive down to Lincoln and travel the amazing Kancamangus Scenic Byway (Route 112). This is 35 miles through the White Mountains with no gas stations, so you might want to top off while in Lincoln. Thirty minutes east is the Mount Washington Cog Railway, and you will pass the historic Mount Washington Hotel on the way. Fifteen minutes south and you can be at Franconia Notch State Park.

Bug spray is recommended. Although black bears are generally shy and usually avoid humans, they are opportunistic and will search for human food supplies when natural foods are not available. Maintaining a sustainable bear population in New Hampshire depends on minimizing human-bear conflicts. It is illegal to intentionally feed bears in New Hampshire. Intentional feeding can create problems within residential areas and can result in fines. It also may threaten the life of the bear, if it becomes a nuisance animal as a result of this feeding. Please keep your food in your car when you are not at the site and when you are sleeping. The property has views of Mount Martha and the Presidential Mountain Range. There are easy walking trails throughout the property. There is a field to play games; Soccer, wiffle ball, corn hole and yard croquet can be used. An outhouse compost toilet is available (bring your own TP). No showers or dump stations. Please do not dump grey/black water anywhere on the property. We allow small RVs, vans, and trailers under 24 ft. No 5th wheels. 4WD is recommended but not required. Garden carts are available, upon request, to haul gear if needed. Important to Know: No pets (we’re a working farm with chickens and farm dogs). Fires allowed only in designated pit. Bring firewood (or purchase from us) and always follow fire bans. Pack out your trash (small bin next to outhouse provided for cans/bottles). No cutting trees or using the large bonfire pile in the center of the field. Arrive before dark—there are no lights on site or along the field road. If muddy, you may need to park at the bottom of the access road. We rent to up to 3 groups per night, sites are first come, first serve. Our family farmhouse dates back to the 1850s, with five remaining acres including the barn, fields, and woods. Bug spray is recommended. Although black bears are generally shy and usually avoid humans, they are opportunistic and will search for human food supplies when natural foods are not available. Maintaining a sustainable bear population in New Hampshire depends on minimizing human-bear conflicts. It is illegal to intentionally feed bears in New Hampshire. Intentional feeding can create problems within residential areas and can result in fines. It also may threaten the life of the bear, if it becomes a nuisance animal as a result of this feeding. Please keep your food in your car when you are not at the site and when you are sleeping. The property has views of Mount Martha and the Presidential Mountain Range. There are easy walking trails throughout the property. There is a field to play games; Soccer, wiffle ball, corn hole and yard croquet can be used. Important to Know: No pets (we’re a working farm with chickens and farm dogs). Fires allowed only in designated pit. Bring firewood (or purchase from us) and always follow fire bans. Our full line of herbs and herbal products are for sale via our website or at Free Verse Farm Shop, located just one mile from our farm in downtown Chelsea. Our Farm Shop offers a wide variety of fresh produce, provisions, fresh baked goods, alcoholic (& non-) beverages, and more to enjoy during your stay or as you continue on your journey. We brought our two kids and our German Shepherd! The site couldn’t have been more perfect for all of us. The kids had a blast exploring, and our dog felt right at home. He was off leash the entire time and the second we pulled up, we ended up meeting Chaga, the friendliest Husky you will ever meet! Chaga stayed right outside our RV the entire night and waited to greet us in the morning. He and our dog Scout got along instantly. Scout did not want to leave on the last day! We had to literally drag him back into the RV lol. They will be best friends fureverrr 😂🐶🐕 It’s not always easy to find a place that works so well for the whole family, but this spot truly did. The campsite was extremely peaceful, spacious , clean, and thoughtfully set up with the most amazing views of the mountains. We also ended up using the sauna as well, which was so relaxing. I wish we could’ve stayed there longer than two days. We will definitely be back another time when it gets a little bit warmer. We highly highly recommend this location for families and dog owners! 🏕️🐾✨

We stayed at Birch Grove on a particularly cold, rainy, and windy Halloween weekend and Nick already had a large tarp set up over the easiest tent spot.... plus a cow skull and a few candles for the ambiance. Incredible site with multiple pitches spread out around the land. We were lucky enough to be put on the beat site...on site 7 (despite booking the field site). What a view and great facilities. Fit pit with grill for cooking whilst watching the stars and white mountains. Camp cooking kitchen and shower near the main house. Fire wood for sale. Compost toilet at each site. The only problem was we wished we could have stayed longer! Look out for the friendly moose and check out the little boat on the pond. Fab site 10/10.

Jon was most accommodating and a wealth of local information. He loaned us an electric heater for our camper so we didn't have to use the noisy one installed. The driveway was a bit daunting for backing up but we did it without too much effort. There's a great hike with waterfalls on the property and a cute cafe close by with good food and live music. The bathrooms were the cleanest and nicest I have seen camping! We will definitely return!

This 150-acre property has been in our family for 32 years and now houses three generations. Built in 1900 it was a traditional dairy farm until the 50's and 60's when potatoes were planted on the fields for the Boston and New York markets. By the 70's and 80's it became a gentleman's farm for a retired couple from New York City and the dairy farmers nearby hayed the fields. When we purchased the property in 1993 we continued offering the hay, built greenhouses, planted vegetable and flower gardens, ran a traditional Bed and Breakfast, now airbnb. We leased some of the fields to a local organic seed company for 13 years until they purchased their own property. The farm remains certified organic and is still being hayed by a local dairy farm, the gardens are community managed using regenerative and sustainable practices when ever possible. In the commercial garden, seed crops are being planted once again. Much of the cultivated agricultural land is protected under the Vermont Land Trust, to ensure that it remains used for agricultural purposes. We love to share our farm and forest with others. In addition to our very intentional farming operations, you can find wild edibles tucked away on forest trails. Wildlife and wildflowers abound. Views and sunsets. Check out the 968 acre wildlife management area that abuts the property. Plenty of trails through the woods leading to Wolcott Pond and hidden beaver huts and dams. Children 12 and under no charge. We are at the foot of Starr King Mountain trail, one of the many 4000' trails in the White Mountains. A HIKERS PARADISE! This is the perfect spot to camp if you're looking to hike Mount Washington or explore the many trails close to the property. PLEASE make sure you come prepared with the proper camping gear! You MUST bring a tent or RV for camping. Our campground is suitable for nature lovers or outdoor enthusiasts. We take incredible care of our land - it is not suitable for parties! PLEASE NOTE, we prefer arrivals before 9 pm, so please communicate what time you will be arriving with us beforehand :) We purchased this farm over a decade ago. Mike being a lifetime resident of Jefferson is very familiar with the local surroundings and attractions, we take pride in our community. We enjoy farming and gardening. One of the oldest properties in town the Day Homestead (as it is known) dates back hundreds of years and our house was built in 1810. It was run as a successful trout farm of 70+ years. Learn more about this land: We have two sites on our historic Vermont trout farm.  The first site sits near our post and beam "run in" horse barn.  It's a very flat site with easy road access and has 30 AMP electric service and we can provide potable water to fill up your tank. The second site sits a little further back (also very easy access) and closer to Quation Brook. It is better suited for boondocking as it is a little ways from the 30 AMP outlets. Again water is available. Our farm is very rural but close (2 miles) to interstate 89 with a well stocked country store in town. It's a  quiet setting near the gardens and a small stream. We are a small hobby farm that grows and sells produce to local coops.  We also produce and sell Vermont maple syrup and salsa.
