Maple Hollow Shelter
What a great space! Two mamas and two daughters (7 and 9) joined up for a full moon, chilly October weekend. We often go to state parks, and find them busy and loud. We loved having no neighbors but the trees. The lean-to was fresh and clean. Fire pit perfecr. Loads of dry wood. a good place!

#1 HipCamp
Cal set a new standard for HipCamp!! This place is amazing. It has rained the majority of our trip, but thanks to the immaculate lean-to we had a fantastic experience and stayed dry the entire time! Not to mention the bounty of dry (maple) firewood Cal also provided. We are already planning our next stay!

Maple Hollow Shelter
Cool spot surrounded by a maze of maple syrup tap lines. Really cool to observe and envision the process of how the sap is extracted.
Well built structure for the tent. If there weren’t mosquitoes to worry about, we would have slept in the open air- plenty of room for an air mattress or two.
Lots of firewood and a big fire ring. The outhouse was fine. Everything was as advertised. Easy enough to find and Cal was responsive to my messages.
Would highly recommend and would definitely return for another visit.

Maple Hollow Shelter
Great, private spot in the woods! Well kept and lots of firewood. The lean-to was awesome and has a metal roof so maybe bring some earplugs if it’s going to rain!

Peaceful stay, clean perfect camp
What a gorgeous spot in the maple woods - immaculate shelter, conveniently placed picnic table (adorned with some freshly plucked flowers when we arrived), nice trail to outhouse, solid firepit (and plenty of generously provided firewood), and easy access from the road despite feeling entirely remote. We've camped all over the place and all the hipcamp amenities aside, what set this place apart was the beautiful maple glen, lovely winding trails, and quiet setting. We heard hermit thrushes and shared a pleasant evening listening to the rustle of the wind through the trees.
We visited in the summer and hope to make it back in the winter to see the host, Cal, making wood-fired maple syrup with the sap from all the trees we enjoyed. Awesome, local, and knowledgeable host - he's a seventh generation Vermonter who purchased this land to help preserve it, and his pride shows in all the small touches of excellent hospitality. He encouraged us to walk up the trails to the Bailey Hazen and see the views on Cabot Plains (yes, sunset!), to hike the Cabot Trails (we wouldn't have known about this gem without him - accessible right from his land), and check out the nearby Lamoille Valley Rail Trail by ski or bike next time we're in the area.
