The topography is diverse, having steep heights, easy flats and everything in between; which makes hiking fun and interesting. The lower College Drive side features a historic limestone homestead and quarry, also a fossil rich creek-bed and rustic (4WD) road to the top. After twenty years of living in the heart of the city, we traded our pavement for 14 acres among the rolling hills of the beautiful Cannon Valley region of Southeast MN. Crowded Table Farm is the realization of a long-held dream: a place where we can grow good food, restore the land, and—most importantly—share it with others. Our farm is a patchwork of vegetable beds, fruit trees, a budding native prairie, and quiet woods.
Life on the Farm:
Depending on when you visit, you might see us out in the fields planting, weeding, harvesting, or tooling around on our small tractor. You’ll definitely hear the ducks chatting and the roosters announcing the day, but beyond that, it’s pretty darn quiet here. We are actively restoring a native prairie to provide a home for pollinators and butterflies, and we steward our wooded spaces, working to support a healthy forest ecosystem.
The End of the Road:
If you’re looking to get off the beaten path, you’ve found it! Our farm sits at the end of a dead-end road, with four miles of gravel between you and the nearest paved highway. Because of that, our nights are truly dark, and the stars are incredibly bright. It’s the kind of place where you can take a deep breath and actually hear yourself think. However, while it feels a world away, we’re actually quite close to some of our favorite Minnesota spots.
We’re just 15 minutes from the Cannon River bike trail and great spots for kayaking or canoeing, and Nerstrand Big Woods State Park is a short 20-minute drive away for hiking. The historic downtowns of Cannon Falls and Northfield are both nearby, offering fantastic breweries, antiques, boutiques, vintage shops, bookstores, wineries, restaurants, and more. We are also an easy 45-minute drive from both the Twin Cities and Rochester.
A Stay with Purpose:
At Crowded Table Farm, we believe in a "purposeful surplus." We run a small CSA, sell at a nearby farmers market, and grow extra produce specifically to donate to our local food bank. By staying here, you aren't just finding a place to pitch a tent—you’re supporting a small-scale food system and a commitment to land stewardship. The space
The cabin is separate from the house and the rest of the farm buildings so it is very private. On the outside, there is a picnic table, covered deck, outdoor seating, a fire pit, charcoal grill and outdoor shower. The inside of the cabin has a loft (Accessed via ladder) with two full-sized beds, a TV with a DVD player, a Culligan water dispenser, microwave, dorm-sized refrigerator, coffee maker, and comfortable seating.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:
The loft, where the two beds are, is accessed VIA A ladder. It can be difficult to access if mobility is a concern, so please keep this in mind.
The bathroom consists of a porta-potty and a private outdoor shower located behind the cabin. There is no running water directly to the cabin, but hot, running water is located in the outdoor shower. Drinking water is provided via a Culligan water dispenser in the cabin.

Welcome to Crowded Table Farm!
After twenty years of living in the heart of the city, we traded our pavement for 14 acres among the rolling hills of the beautiful Cannon Valley region of Southeast MN. Crowded Table Farm is the realization of a long-held dream: a place where we can grow good food, restore the land, and—most importantly—share it with others. Our farm is a patchwork of vegetable beds, fruit trees, a budding native prairie, and quiet woods.
Life on the Farm:
Depending on when you visit, you might see us out in the fields planting, weeding, harvesting, or tooling around on our small tractor. You’ll definitely hear the ducks chatting and the roosters announcing the day, but beyond that, it’s pretty darn quiet here. We are actively restoring a native prairie to provide a home for pollinators and butterflies, and we steward our wooded spaces, working to support a healthy forest ecosystem.
The End of the Road:
If you’re looking to get off the beaten path, you’ve found it! Our farm sits at the end of a dead-end road, with four miles of gravel between you and the nearest paved highway. Because of that, our nights are truly dark, and the stars are incredibly bright. It’s the kind of place where you can take a deep breath and actually hear yourself think. However, while it feels a world away, we’re actually quite close to some of our favorite Minnesota spots.
We’re just 15 minutes from the Cannon River bike trail and great spots for kayaking or canoeing, and Nerstrand Big Woods State Park is a short 20-minute drive away for hiking. The historic downtowns of Cannon Falls and Northfield are both nearby, offering fantastic breweries, antiques, boutiques, vintage shops, bookstores, wineries, restaurants, and more. We are also an easy 45-minute drive from both the Twin Cities and Rochester.
A Stay with Purpose:
At Crowded Table Farm, we believe in a "purposeful surplus." We run a small CSA, sell at a nearby farmers market, and grow extra produce specifically to donate to our local food bank. By staying here, you aren't just finding a place to pitch a tent—you’re supporting a small-scale food system and a commitment to land stewardship. We can't wait to share this beautiful space with you!

Unplug and see the stars - Treat yourself to a low-tech escape into nature where you can relish the peace of a hardwood forest, soak in outstanding views, engage with fun farm animals, and just relax. This private cabin is located on the edge of our pasture-based farm - we have 160 acres of forest, pastures, bluffs, and cliffs to explore. Just off the farm, this area is home to world-class trout fishing, the Root River State Trail, Amish shops, and so many hidden gems!
The space
The cabin is separate from the house and the rest of the farm buildings so it is very private. On the outside, there is a picnic table, covered deck, outdoor seating, a fire pit, charcoal grill and outdoor shower. The inside of the cabin has a loft (Accessed via ladder) with two full-sized beds, a TV with a DVD player, a Culligan water dispenser, microwave, dorm-sized refrigerator, coffee maker, and comfortable seating.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:
The loft, where the two beds are, is accessed VIA A ladder. It can be difficult to access if mobility is a concern, so please keep this in mind.
The bathroom consists of a porta-potty and a private outdoor shower located behind the cabin. There is no running water directly to the cabin, but hot, running water is located in the outdoor shower. Drinking water is provided via a Culligan water dispenser in the cabin.

These cabins are perfect for a winter get away! Watching the first snow of the year come down while comfy on the porch was incredible! It is close to the road, but the traffic generally sounds far off and ambient in the background. The cabins are warm, the bunk beds are fun even if you’re grown ups, and the windows on the ceiling are incredible for watching snowfall. The hiking around this area is incredible!
We really appreciated the quick response and availability of a cabin short notice. Another place had double booked and cancelled our booking a few days before our intended night away and Chelsi really came through and saved our Thanksgiving week!

Most luxurious hike-in site I’ve stayed at for sure! I stayed at Celtis on top of the bluff at the very end. Was happy I did because in late fall, there didn’t look to be much privacy at the other sites. Celtis was awesome and the bed was super comfortable too. The structure with the screen and tarps worked great for letting in some airflow if unzipped or none if zipped up. A table with 4 chairs, firepit, and the perfectly-spaced trees for a hammock made this site really great. Be prepared for a very steep (but short) hike up. Bathrooms with toilets, running water, and showers at the bottom near the cabins were a nice touch too.

Awesome campground! Josh, the host, was very easy to communicate with and greeted us when we arrived! Josh also ended up getting upgraded to the cabin, which was very considerate! The campground was very clean and even had wifi. The campground is in between some great bluffs that have huge trees that create a canopy and privacy around each campsite! I definitely would recommend this place!

Nestled quietly in the bluffs in southeastern MN. An unforgettable trip! Amenities and needs provided as described. Conveniently located close to Whitewater State Park. Chelsi was a sweet and attentive host who was quick to respond to any questions we had. The hike in was impressive, very steep, but absolutely worth it to camp on top of the bluff with the views. Best to pack as much as you can in one trip up. The nature songs were perfect. Also, loved the crocheted mushroom art around the top of the bluff. Loved the backpacking experience to our camp. Every part about this camp is well kept and maintained beautifully. We will be back again!

We loved the set up, here! They thought of pretty much everything! It was pretty great having a star gazing spot and the community area was covered which was really handy when we experienced a slight rain. It is, however, right near the town and Friday night we could hear electronic music most of the evening, so if you are truly looking for a place without any sign of humanity around, this may not be the place for you. We would definitely stay again!

The site was nice but better for an RV. It's small and there isn't much level space for a tent. However, it's right on the river and the view is amazing! The campground is on a county highway but it was surprisingly quiet in the evening and morning. It's a nice spot for an overnight stay. I would stay again but choose one of the sites better suited for a tent.

This was a really cool place to camp out. My wife and stayed for one night and had a great experience. Water station and showers at the bottom which were clean. It was a short and steep hike up to the glamping tent, which was very spacious. Firewood was there for us and there was also a barbecue nearby. We grilled out and then started a fire later to hang out. Once it got dark we went over to the community tent area (we happened to be the only ones that night) and could see all the stars and the milky way. It was beautiful. Would definitely love to come back next time!

We loved being able to have our own getaway at a family reunion. Penny is clean, cute and comfortable with loads of little thoughtful perks. We loved not having to bring our own linens and/or dishes and appreciated the K-cups and dog treats they stocked the camper with. Delivery and pick up were both super prompt and we would highly recommend this to anyone!
