Mike and Loellen discovered Ruttger’s Camping Resort in the winter of 2005 while driving around the area and scanning websites for trailers. We bought a trailer on a seasonal site and have thoroughly enjoyed our summers here ever since! Perfect for kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and swimming. Boating is allowed up to 40 hp via gated private launch (no tubing or skiing). The land slopes to the lake where you will find small dock and a few stairs into the water. Well for water and electricity available including a 30 amp hookup for RV campers. Large outhouse also has electricity. Minutes away from access to Cuyuna trails, Crosby, and Emily, as well as nearby Nisswa and Crosslake. This central location offers access to any and all amenities. After a day on the trails, in town, or on the water, an evening at the fire pit overlooking the lake is a perfect way to end the day. Wind down, relax and enjoy the trees, lake and nature surrounding you. We expect all guests to respect the neighborhood, lake and nature!
**November to early spring the water access will be winterized and NOT available for use. Any winter camping is at your own digression and snow removal will only be provided on the neighborhood road(s) up to the entrance of the site. Getting into the site could be difficult depending on the snow conditions.**

Our camping area sits in a quiet corner of our 40-acre property. You'll find easy access through a mowed approach that opens into a peaceful spot just for you. While there’s some privacy from the road, traffic is minimal, so you can relax and enjoy the quiet.
Beyond our home and a few outbuildings, the land offers a beautiful mix of young timber, lowlands, open meadows, and winding trails—perfect for exploring or simply soaking in nature. We’re just beginning our journey into creating an RV park, so while some of our plans are still in progress, we’re excited to share what we have so far.

This was an amazing camping spot. There was a slight hill down to the water but nothing unmanageable. Dock, swing, picnic table, paddle boat, canoe, all great features. There is a hose with water if needed, which was very convenient. Lake is very quiet and relaxing. Would stay again and recommend to anyone!

Great spot for tent camping or a small camper. You get your own private spot on the lake. There's an outhouse, electric, and portable water. The fire pit is a nice size. The swing bench by the lake was my favorite spot for enjoying my morning coffee, watching the sunrise and the pair of loons fishing. You can jig for sunnies right off the dock. When you first walk onto the dock it is very wobbly. But once you're out there it's fine. We had 3 people fishing off of it at the same time. Make sure you bring camp chairs, as the chairs in the pictures are not there. There is a canoe and paddle boards for use as well. The walk down to the lake is a bit steep. Just something to think about if you have mobility issues. We really enjoyed our time here and plan to go again next summer!

Our family of 6 had a wonderful time camping on Fool's Lake. We found enough level land for our 3 tents to be down by the lake and the perfect trees to hang the hammocks. The preteen kids enjoyed having the paddle boat to explore the lake and use as a swimming dock. We liked having electricity for charging phones and a water source for washing up. We cooked over the fire with the solid cooking grate provided. Cheap disposable grill grate covers are just a few dollars at the store in Crosby. It's so convenient that Crosby is only 10 min. away when you need more ice for the coolers. The mosquitoes were not that bad and we had Thermacell to keep all flying pests away. It was a relaxing weekend on a clean quiet lake where we could watch bald eagles and listen to the loons. Jackie was a wonderful host who was quick to communicate and happy to accommodate to make sure we had a nice long stay. Thanks Jackie!

Enjoyed the beautiful lake, including kayaking around it!! Sounds of the loon's call, fish jumping and quiet nature was wonderful.
Up keep was a little rustic, longer grass, toss of rocks for a firepit, pre-warned about poison ivy, very large hornet/wasp nest on "off limits" play house, and level ground is a little challenging to find. Log swing was nice but hard to see lake over overgrowth.
Was nice to have wood available for purchase and overall enjoyed the privacy. Thanks for the stay!

What a great piece of lake property to camp! After a short drive up a wooded path you are greeted by a lovely piece of wooded lake heaven with open vista to the lake. The property has an elevated area where we put our Chalet and two tents. This is where the outhouse is located as well. The property has a partial "road" down to the lake where you can tell some people may have driven. Not steep however. There is a flat area by the lake where a fun two person swinging bench is located and large fire pit.
Fools Lake is clean and clear for swimming and kaying, my favs. We were in the lake all the time. I enjoyed the ease of steps into the lake. There is a sandy bottom with some rocks (wear your water shoes) but so easy to lauch your canoe or kayaks. There is a large dock as well.
This property is well hiden for privacy. Quiet. Beautiful. We will return.

This is a private spot. Only you and your set up. It’s a beautiful lake and a nice set of stairs to the lake. There’s a wonderful wood swing over looking the lake. There’s aLao a picnic table and a big fire pit. I’d recommend your own toilet set up if possible. It was wonderful! 10/10 I’d come again

What a great spot! Our 16 foot Scamp was really easy to get in and out. Quiet and private-we really enjoyed it. We kayaked and swam and enjoyed the view and the nature-also had fun exploring Crosby and lunch at the Bridge Tavern. We will definitely come back next year! Thank you Jackie, for sharing your space!

This is a place that is perfect for families. We enjoyed reading quietly in our RV site and listening to the kids pal around and have the time of their lives. The manager was very friendly and really accommodating when we had to stay part of a day longer because our camper awning got stuck in the open position. The facilities including bathrooms are clean and well kept. And it's free to use the kayaks and canoe. They also have fishing boats for rent.
