The place looked great when we arrived, especially lit up at night. Inside, it had that familiar campfire-and-wood smell that made it feel comfortable right away. The heated blanket was the saving grace of the stay. It was in the 30s, and the small radiator heater struggled to keep up, so most of the evening was spent bundled up together under the blanket.
The cabin is very small, and the property itself isn’t large either, so you can hear some street noise. Being close to town was convenient, though. We grabbed Chinese carry-out and it was surprisingly good after a cold day.
Leslie was thrilled to meet the alpacas, which added a fun moment to the trip. There are several areas set up for groups, and I would definitely come back with friends. The space works well for hanging out and enjoying a simple, low-key getaway.

It’s such a cute little place! Perfect if you want to camp, but don’t want to pack all of the stuff that goes with it! And…perfect for you-never-know-about-the-weather weather. Adorable garden and the alpacas are so darn cute!!! Nice a private!!

Weekend Trip to Blooming Bus Farms
Blooming Bus Farms is a gem! We camped in the bungalow mid-September. After getting settled, we roamed the property and played best of 10 at the basketball hoop, played H-O-R-S-E on the disc golf basket, and hung out on the garden swing at dusk.
We loved the vibe of the property that there was a camp store where you could purchase light up toys, hats, mittens, honey, etc and pay via Venmo. The light up helicopter you we purchased for $2 at the camp store gave us some good entertainment. They also had firewood bundles right at the site that you pay for via Venmo. So convenient that you don’t have to lug it from the store to the campsite.
The kitchen kit upgrade was well worth it! We brought in brats for the campfire swivel grill for dinner and pancakes and sausage on the gas griddle in the morning.
The part we were nervous about were the bathroom and shower setup. Although I’m a girlie who is fine skipping a shower when camping, I just had to try the outdoor shower. It was amazing - the temperature was already set at the perfect temperature and there was shampoo and conditioner there. It was nicer shampoo than I have at home! And the water pressure was great.
There was an outdoor kitchen counter and sink that was great for brushing your teeth and washing dishes.
The toilet setup worked out just fine. It was our first time with a compost toilet. It was ok, but I opted for the port a potties on-site for the majority of the weekend.
Finally the unit itself was delightful.

I love staying at blooming bus farms! This is the 1st time though staying in the bungalow. It was amazing! The bohemian decor really stands out and if you’re not impressed with that, just wait till night when everything is lit up. Melissa the hostess was extremely responsive to any questions that I had.

Weekend Trip to Blooming Bus Farms
We loved the bungalow!! It was very easy to find from the road. The property was beautiful with all of the wildflowers and farm critters.
We had everything we needed probided to have a cozy relaxing weekend. Hammock was a nice touch, and we really appreciated having our own restroom and water source.
The reggae festival was a fun experience too! Would definitely come back, and recommend the bungalow to anyone looking for the cutest camping experience!

Melissa has clearly been very thoughtful in how the sites are laid out and what amenities are available. Even though you are in the wilderness enjoying the great outdoors, your bungalow still had the convenience of having electricity for plugging in our phones or heating up our baby's bottle, it had additional seating and furniture, it had lighting and a heater and fan. Outside of the bungalow we had running water for washing our hands, a private shower/toilet, and a covered table area which was such a great touch when it rained the first evening. The farm animals, flowers, and fun activities were also great. I would recommend Melissa's farm and campground to anyone looking to get away but still have basic convenience and great outdoor amenities.

Host Melissa was very prompt answering questions during the booking process. Usually within 5 minutes. On arrival we were greeted with a custom welcome sign and the glamp site was clean and welcoming. Blooming Bus Farms is a slice of amazing wilderness/farm in the middle of town. Very unique and fun! It was my wife’s first camping experience of any kind, so I was worried she would be totally out of her element. Blooming Farms was just the right amount of camping to hopefully build on. Would definitely recommend to friends and family looking for a cool experience.

My son and I stayed at Blooming Bus Farms for two days and had such a peaceful and memorable glamping experience. The setting feels like you’re deep in the woods, but with all the comforts close by.
Melissa was a great host—quick to respond and super thoughtful. We loved the warm shower, fresh towels, flowers at the campsite, and even a personalized welcome sign!
The alpacas, the peaceful night scenery, and the mission of supporting at-risk youth added an extra layer of meaning to our stay.
Check-in and check-out were a breeze. Thank you, Melissa, for such a heartwarming experience!

Awesome experience. Very clean and excellent set up. The alpacas were very interesting to hang out with. At night time a lot of the property is lit up which makes for a fun time. Would highly recommend. Fyi Lehman’s orchard is very nearby and if travelling June 6th on they have fruit picking.

Perfect warm bungalow for a family of 4! Melissa was quick to respond to any request. Stars were beautiful at night and the site had everything we needed for a couple days unplugged. It got VERY cold at night so another space heater would be nice for winter camping. Heated blankets were incredibly warm and comfortable…kids loved them! Definitely want to come back in the summer to see the blooming bus! Wonderful stay and first winter “glamping” experience with the kids!

Where to go
Upper Peninsula
The Upper Peninsula is Michigan’s wild toupée, with swathes of old-growth forests, sandy beaches, and inland lakes stretching along the southern shore of Lake Superior. Northern Lower Peninsula
Bordered by Lake Michigan to the West and Lake Huron to the east, the northern Lower Peninsula has the highest concentration of Michigan state parks. Southwest Michigan
Grand Rapids is the gateway to Michigan’s southwest, where the shore of Lake Michigan provides plenty of options for a summer camping trip. Lakefront cities such as South Haven, Benton Harbor, and Holland have sandy beaches, historic lighthouses, and seafront campgrounds. Forget tent camping in the wilderness—RV sites come equipped with full hookups, playgrounds, and watercraft rentals.
Southeast Michigan
Michigan's "Thumb" juts out along the west shore of Lake Huron, where Sleeper State Park and Port Crescent State Park are the big draws for campers. Below this, the west coast is ideal for a road trip, peppered with shipwreck dive sites, secluded beaches, and golf courses. South of Detroit and Lake St. Clair, Sterling State Park is the only state park on the shore of Lake Erie, with a mix of RV and tent sites by the beach.
