The property is close to a great hiking trail that leads to an amazing scenic view of lake superior. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Close to great outdoor activities. This site helped to make my daughters birthday weekend a wonderful experience.

We loved our stay on Site #2! The site is huge! Plenty of room to spread out. Very quiet and VERY private! Cory was a fantastic host and made sure we had everything we needed and were comfortable the entire time. I HIGHLY recommend this stay! Literally just bring your bedding and food. Everything else is there. It’s a great, central spot, making it easy to hop around different attractions in the U.P. I will definitely be back with family and friends!

I stayed at the AuTrain Hipcamp RV spot, and it was truly one of the best experiences I’ve had. The RV itself was amazing — spacious, super clean, and incredibly comfortable. It had two full bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a big, cozy sofa — perfect for relaxing after a day out. What really made the stay special was the beautiful natural setting. Nestled in the middle of the forest, it felt peaceful and secluded — a true escape. And just a short walk away, there was a serene lake, which made the mornings and evenings even more magical. Whether it was enjoying coffee with a view or taking in the quiet by the water, the setting added so much to the experience. The RV had everything we needed, and it felt more like a luxury cabin on wheels. If you’re looking for a unique, nature-filled getaway without giving up comfort — this is the spot. Highly recommend!

I felt welcome & comfortable above and beyond any expectations I could've had tbh. Thanks again for letting me use (and chop my own) firewood & catch a fire on arrival ! ='] Everything was thought of, tbh, couldn't have asked for a better experience & hosts. For a glamping farmside heated clean canvas tent with flooring on a deck with a comfortable bed, cooking station & sink just outthe tent and opposite corner a flushing toilet clean outhouse all in the garden with you it's a neat setup, really. Got to meet the animals, see a greenhouse full of petunias in bloom & very healthy vegetable starts in another, while getting ideas on developing a farmstead a little & it was a great place to be, imho. Kristel & Chuck's efforts & love they put into this place is obvious & felt in all the craft & comforts there. Thanks you two, it was great & look forward to staying next visit to the Superior Coast !

Such a fun and quaint little place in the woods. I stayed with my two young daughters on our way through town. We loved the hot tub and the quaintness of being in a tiny little cabin together. Close enough to town, but also far enough away. The host was great and extremely accommodating.

We had an amazing stay at this campsite! We stayed in the Skypod, which was cozy and peaceful. The site felt private even though it was near others, and it was really easy to find. We loved that it was such a great, easy getaway with no setup required—just show up and relax. Cory was super responsive and helpful— we were able to buy campfire wood and fresh eggs from him. He even had a fire going for us our first night, such a thoughtful host! Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to unwind in nature without the hassle.

Weekend Trip to Possum Creek Campground

My fiance and I booked 2 nights at site 3. The cabin with Suana. What a great place Shawn has. Shawn was super accommodating and helpful, and not to mention friendly. Plan to meet Shawn in town and he will guide you to the camp. We made it fine in our little car, but keep in mind there is a few miles of dirt and sand road. Alot of rain could make the drive muddy. The suana was utilized both nights. What a sweet perk! Ive had alot of experience in suanas but never in a wood fired, home built one! That was fun! There is a pretty lake nearby that Shawn dropped us at. He has kayaks and fishing poles available for guests. Lots of trails nearby, a beautiful, spring fed stream on the property. Stove available for use in the cabin which we utilized for boiling water and baking potatoes. Definitely would recommend and we have his place earmarked for a future visit! I visit here every year and it just gets better every time. I live here in the UP and this is my spot to get away from it all. Hiking, kayaks, the works. I spent my visit here reading this time and enjoying many visits in the sauna. Love the cabin and property. Thank you and see you next year!❤️

We stayed at the orchard cabin. Jill and Nick's dogs were very welcoming even though we didn't get in until 1030 at night. We were able to pull out the futon to a bed so we didn't have to figure out a way to put our disabled child up the ladder to the loft area. The pump takes a bit of priming, but works really well once you have the pressure up.

My friend and I had a wonderful stay at the cabin on Craig’s land! It was absolutely beautiful and very peaceful and serene. We enjoyed the sauna and wood burning stove. Though we spent most of the 2 days we were here out and about hiking and enjoying the beaches, I would totally come back and do absolutely nothing but hang out at the cabin all day because it was that nice. Craig was a great host, very helpful and responsive. 10/10 stay would definitely come back!

The southern half is home to 8 charcoal kilns which employed a community prior to ownership. The mountain is approximately 1.8 billion years old. Learn more about this land: This property has 2 tent sites at the western base of Hogback Mountain. Site 1, The Falls Site, is located on a spring fed stream. The hike from parking to tent site is 1/4 mile on a well-marked hilly path. Campers can park at the main property on County Road HD or on the Garden Road, and will need to pack supplies to their site. Site 2, The Garden Site, is 100 feet from the stream and campers can drive to and park their vehicles at the site. Site 3, Mountain View Cabin, includes an outhouse and sauna. Sites have picnic tables, fire pits, and an outhouse. Campers are responsible for removal of all other waste. The 2-foot wide stream provides water for washing, but is not considered potable, and use of filters or boiling water is recommended. Bear Tree Homestead is nestled among the cliffs and ravines which drains the south face of Hogback Mountain located in Marquette Township Michigan. Hogback Mountain is one of the larger rock formations in the Huron Range, a surprisingly rugged, and diverse region of low mountains carved by glaciers. Each cabin is hand-built of log and stone using traditional Scandinavian building tools and techniques. The cabins have access to the pond, use of the canoe, a private fire pit, picnic table, charcoal grill and privy. Inside the cabins is a functional kitchen with dishes, flatware, pots and pans, so you can prepare meals onsite. Cabins also have table and chairs as well soft chairs/sofa sitting area, bookshelves with a variety of books, board games and puzzles, and covered porch in case of rain. Our buildings, gardens, and pastures are integrated into the forested landscape and are not your typical homestead. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings, collect fresh eggs (when they are laying), lay in the hammock, listen to the sounds of nature and the barnyard or take an adventure hike, bike ride, snowshoe, or ski right out the door. One of the most wonderful things we have to offer is the accessibility to thousands of protected acres surrounding us and the trails that bisect them. The property is on the North Country Trail, just over a Noquemanon Trail Network Forestville trailhead where access to year round recreation awaits. Hogback Mountain is just up the trail from the cabin with spectacular views of forest, mountains and lake superior. We are located 8 miles from downtown Marquette in Michigan's Upper Peninsula where there are many great restaurants, shops, and brewpubs. However, once you drive into Bear Tree Homestead and settle in you will not want to leave.

These sites are on a seasonal road so travel in and out can be impeded at times due to weather or external forces, such as tree falls, wash outs, etc. This is a self sufficient homestead in the making. Our garden has progressed greatly, and our fruit tree orchards are starting to produce. The free range chickens are fun and quirky, offering farm fresh eggs. We just opened our second site, the Prairieview Chalet 2024 summer. Both sites offer great amenities. The Acorn Retreat cabin includes a hot tub, gas weber grill and other amenities. The bouchee outhouse is shared by both sites and is cleaned regularly. The new Prairieview Chalet is an exceptional adventurers haven! It has all the things you want after a day(s) out in the wilderness, with amenities like a hot shower, fully stocked kitchen, linens and more. Our property reflects our love of the land and space. We are always making improvements, such as the timber framed chicken coop. We now have a ping pong table for our guests, and still offer farm fresh eggs. Hello, and welcome to Superior Times Resort and Campground! We would like to take a moment and introduce ourselves. Our names are Tom and Heather Holmstrom. We were married in 2016 and have four children as part of our blended family. We are both originally from the Upper Peninsula. Superior Times and Resort was the result of us wanting to do something “outside of the box” that would allow us to raise our family and showcase our love and respect for the beauty of the Upper Peninsula…the area that many refer to as “God’s Country.” In December of 2016, we mistakenly pulled into the driveway of this property. At that time, it was known as Coleman’s Paradise Resort. There was a For Sale sign marking the property. We both knew at that point our fate was sealed to become this property’s new owners. We learned that this property had been a family vacation destination for nearly 100 years. We could only imagine the special memories that had been made here over the years! We wanted to become a part of that deep history.Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. We knew there was A LOT of work that simply had to be done. On a wing and prayer, we somehow made this great resort ours. In April of 2017, we opened what we named Superior Times Resort and Campground. We pulled up or sleeves and went to work! We began this resort’s transformation by replacing nearly all of the roofs. We then added the campground (we are most proud of the campground, as it did not exist prior to our ownership). In the winters we worked on the inside of the cabins, which is what we continue working on to this day. We have completely remodeled 3 cabins; Eagle Harbor, Copper Harbor and Isle Royal. Smaller projects are being continually worked on in the other cabins. Slowly but surely, we are turning this property into our vision. The harsh winter of 2018/2019 led to two roof collapses and even more work!! In 2020, we designed and built rustic bungalows in our campground for nightly rental. Please, take a walk down Backwoods Alley and check them out. In the winter of 2020/2021, we built new custom showers in 3 cabins and replaced the old siding on Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor. We think the new cedar shakes complete the rustic feel we are aiming for. In the spring of 2021, we added 4 new campsites and built a new bath house for our campers. We also ordered new windows for Tahquamenon Falls and Mackinaw Island, however due to the pandemic we did not receive them in time for installation (insert angry emoji). It has been so rewarding having customers return to this resort and commenting so favorably on the changes we have made! What will 2022 bring? Stay tuned.We could not have done ANY of the resort changes without the help and support of my parents, Roger and Marcia Hart. They sold their own home to live out here full time to be a part of the resort’s transformations. Without them, this dream would not have been possible. They truly define the saying, “labor of love,” as we often can only pay them with love. Our dream truly became their dream, as well.
