Located in the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the small town of Engadine. We are a few miles from Lake Michigan with the camp nesting beside the tranquil waters of Doe Creek. There is wildlife traveling through the property and at times make this their home. This is a birding paradise for those birds migrating through and others building their nests and raising their babies here. Every spring is different those birds migrating, we see Indigo Bunting, Baltimore Oriole, Grosbeak and Bobolink. Occasionally we see just a flicker of color and wing and they are gone to another home. Actually nesting here are Hummingbirds, Cedar Waxwing and Sandhill Cranes, Every kind of Woodpecker is a daily sighting with the Pileated announcing his arrival that vibrates across the field and through the trees. We are a hobby farm, we hay in July, garden during the summer and at times have a variety of farm animals. There is recreation galore including swimming, fishing, boating, skiing, hiking, and biking to name a few very familiar activities to this area.

Every family has a black sheep: the one who does things their own way and somehow ends up being everyone’s favorite anyway. That’s where the name comes from, and it fits the land just as well as it fits the stay. Black Sheep Landings is 10 acres of real, working Northern Michigan land, located roughly halfway between Boyne City and Boyne Mountain. Trees line two sides of the site, giving you a sense of separation without pretending you’re in the middle of nowhere. This is a rural road, and you’ll hear the occasional truck pass, especially in the early morning. We’d rather tell you that upfront than have you discover it on your own. This isn’t a polished resort with manicured pads and cookie-cutter sites. It’s a working property. There’s a barn nearby with some honest wear on its siding, and a couple of areas around the property are still a work in progress. None of that affects your stay. What you get is a site that’s entirely yours, with a real fire pit at the center, a gazebo covering a screened-in picnic table so dinner doesn’t turn into a bug buffet, and plenty of open space to park whatever you bring—trucks, trailers, ATVs, bikes, boats, and more. We live close by, about 100 yards up the driveway, which means help is never far if you need it. It also means this isn’t a deep-woods, off-grid kind of stay. It’s a working landscape with room to breathe, not total isolation. The driveway itself is steep, so take it slow on your way in and out, especially when there’s snow on the ground. Bring the dog. Bring the whole crew, honestly—there’s room for both. This is the kind of place you come to for the fire pit at night, the acreage during the day, and the freedom to enjoy the property at your own pace.

Take a jump off the breakwall, or visit the newest bridge at Boyne Mountain Resort, just a stone's throw away! Relax in peace, the woods, and enjoy a little slice of heaven. There is no electricity, running water, or trash services. Please pack in, pack out. Please do not leave discarded or broken beer or alcohol bottles on property. There are over 30 fruit trees on site, from Black Pearl and Bing Cherries, Apricots, Peach trees, Honeycrisp apples trees etc, 250 sunflower seeds were also planted this season. This is a very delicate area near a local watershed source, Deer Creek, wetlands on property, and also fruit tree farm in it's early stages, organic strawberries, and organic raspberries growing as well. If you can't respect the trees, plants, flowers, on property please do not book! Also with all of the fruit tree plantings, parking is limited to one to two vehicles inside property at site, other vehicles can park along the drive on M32. We absolutely loved our stay at the A-frame treehouse! It was such a unique and peaceful little getaway, tucked away in the woods and surrounded by nature. You can really tell how much love and hard work went into creating this space. Everything was cozy, thoughtful, and exactly what we were hoping for. We loved being able to slow down, enjoy the quiet, and just spend time together. The location was beautiful, and the treehouse itself made the whole stay feel like an adventure. Our hosts were incredibly kind and communicative, and they made sure we had everything we needed. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests and want everyone to have a great experience. This area was super private and magical! Pictures don’t even come close to what it was like to be in the vicinity of the treehouse. There was plenty of room to also set up a tent and lots of areas to kick back and hang. John was the best and was so quick to respond and share knowledge of the Charlevoix area. His treehouse was designed thoughtfully and the photo album was a fun touch.

Our stay in Sandra’s yurts were absolutely wonderful! The yurt was so comfortable and there were even cots set up for our two kiddos upon our arrival. The staff at the campground were so helpful and friendly! The bathrooms were kept clean and wood was delivered right to our campsite. I definitely recommend booking your stay in these yurts!

Weekend Trip to Sweetwater Shores

Kim and Burt was the best hosts. So kind and thoughtful. Burt cut us some kindling for firewood which was so nice. We really enjoyed getting to meet them! The camper was just what we needed for our long weekend and being on the Lake was such a bonus. We loved getting out on the water, spotting wildlife, kayaking, and having a bonfire. We took several trips to nearby beaches and in the evening enjoyed walking into town to get some ice cream. I'd recommend this gem of a spot in a heartbeat!

Weekend Trip to Doe Creek Hideaway

This quaint little home was the perfect spot for my fiance and I to have some getaway time. It was very comfortable, detail oriented and thoughtful, with many accomodations on hand. The outhouse was clean and odor free which is a rarity! Being able to explore the property was fun, and they have a little loop trail built right on the property you can take to see it, named after their playful and friendly pup, Lucy 🐕. They have other animals too, the horses were beautiful and would come right up to you at the fence. It's a private spot, outhouse is a small walk from the tiny home, hammock already set up, a separate shower stall behind the home, with a water warming bag in a cabinet on the side of the home, for a warm shower. A coffee cabinet on the side of the home as well for everything you need to wake up, little Christmas lights inside to have a comfortable setting when relaxing in the evening, free potable water, cheap firewood with kindling provided as well, a nice fire pit and tables and chairs that are already setup on the property, I mean, it was a pretty sweet spot 😀. My fiance and I would absolutely recommend their little home to you, and they were polite and inviting while allowing us our privacy and freedom as well. Zero complaints whatsoever, and we absolutely loved our stay. Thank you guys, and if we're ever in the area we may just have to check out your little camper 🚐 or primitive site 🏕️ too!

Weekend Trip to Treehouse Convertible A-Frame Cabin

The spot was very well thought out. We stopped to check out the camp right around check-in to be sure we knew what to expect when we returned later that night. We started the evening out at a beautiful upscale concert in dress clothes and came back to reground ourselves. We needed nothing to continue our evening aside from removing our shoes, as the terrain is not meant for high heels. lol! It was very accommodating! Very well done!

Weekend Trip to Doe Creek Hideaway

I stayed recently and found the vintage camper to be nice and cozy. The place was easy to find, very secluded, and surrounded by trees. A small creek is about 50 feet away from the front door, with well mowed and maintained walking trails. You do hear highway noise in the distance, but it's nearly impossible to find any place in Michigan where you don't, and it wasn't a distraction. The camper itself is well restored and the bed is very comfortable, with clean bedding supplied.

We were very happy with our stay! This was one of, if not the, most hospitable campgrounds I’ve stayed at. Very pretty area, the bed was comfortable (if on the shorter end for very tall folks), and bathrooms were clean and private. If I needed to stay in the area again I would happily stay here.

It was such a fun experience! Beautiful area, easy to get to, and friendly staff. The yurt was clean, the firepit ready with wood, and even coffee to be made in the morning! Would definitely recommend to others - you will enjoy your stay!

Weekend Trip to Treehouse Convertible A-Frame Cabin

We loved this cozy lil place! It was easy to find and the location was great. Close to Biers, lost cellars, and Folklor winery. Minutes away from downtown Charlevoix. We appreciated the newly installed AC and the quiet mornings! John was responsive and sent clear instructions. We loved the family photos of the A-frame being built. What a special place. We hope we can visit again soon!

This is the second time I have stayed in a tiki yurts. I absolutely love them. They added bathrooms (just for tiki guest) that are much closer to the yurts. So convenient!!! I am already planning another trip for next year. I have also recommended them a number of times since my first stay a few years ago.

Check in was a breeze, the stay was a treat. We loved the accommodations and having a shower available. Check out was just as easy. Conveniently located close to the ferry and everything else you would need. Planning to stay again in the future.
