The advantage of having a brother that lived in Minnesota is that you get to visit the amazing parks in and around what truly is a beautiful state. A great park and well worth the trip and the coat of a canoe rental to explore.

Three Mile Campground
We were able to camp in the screen huts and moved to between Rock Harbor and Three Mile. It is was beautiful and quiet, not a lot of people at the time we went. I enjoyed exploring the various trails.

You need to constantly monitor for ferry openings and plan ahead, the ferry runs $100+ so ensure your budget is solid and make sure you take enough food/water/shelter in case you get stuck on the island due to weather. Weather can also push the ferry to delay or cancel so prepare for that possibility but it is gorgeous once youre on the island

Hugginin cove is such a lovely place to camp, it’s secluded so it’s wonderfully quiet and right on the lake. This is a such a special park

This is the closest campground to the Windigo side of the island. There are plenty of mosquitos, but also opportunities to see moose.

Went for a 4 day backpacking trip and had a blast! Moose are everywhere, and you’re in their territory! once we got back to Rock Harbor a moose came out of nowhere and charged through the beach. We were able to move out of its way quickly, but it was really cool to see!

I love this campground. Site #7 is actually my favorite site that I've ever been to. Right on the water, nice shelter, I stay 2 nights if possible. I've been to campgrounds all over the midwest and out west and this is my personal favorite, I'll keep coming back whenever I can in the future.

I hiked the 45 miles across Isle Royale and every site was quiet with an outhouse-type toilet or less. The wildlife is incredible and may get very close. We saw four moose and heard wolves howl at night. You can only access this park by ferry and it's very remote. Bring deet and use it often, the mosquitos are relentless. This is one of my favorite places in the world! So remote and untouched from the rest of the world.

Todd Harbor campground is awesome! When I was there, it was the beginning of the season, so was probably less crowded than usual, but nonetheless was amazing. The sunset was great, and it's right on the water which is super calming and obviously beautiful!

Moskey Basin is named for my late uncle, George A. Moskey, who was the first attorney hired by the National Park Service. He did a lot of the land purchase for the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Not accessible by car, only by ferry, no vehicles allowed. Primitive camping. No restrooms.
