This Summer 2025, we’ll be buildin’ a small cabin, so a few weekends may be blocked off here and there. Don’t fret—we’re sprucin’ up the site (levelin’ the ground, fixin’ soggy spots) to make your campin’ experience even comfier. Pardon our dust—it’s all for you! Got questions before ya book? Just holler—I’d love to chat! Your campsite is a one-of-a-kind retreat, surrounded by wild, untouched woods with no neighbors in sight. Close to the road but tucked away private-like, you’ll have the whole 30 acres to yourself. There’s plenty of room for tents or a camper (our 18ft Ice Castle, shown in photos, won’t be there when you visit). There is a small pond in the camp site area (great frog catching says my 6-year-old). Spend your days trompin’ through the trees, sittin’ ‘round the campfire, or explorin’ the Penokee Mountain range’s rugged beauty. For the adventurous, a private trail leads to Happy Creek Flowage, a 10-acre lake ‘bout a half-mile hike away (30 minutes round-trip on foot). It’s a bit of a trek—expect hilly, mountainous terrain—but a paddle boat awaits for a peaceful float. We are working on getting a dock back there but until then expect to wear high boots or to get wet walking to the paddle boat. There is no public access means it’s all yours! ATVs or wheelers can also zip along the trail for faster fun. The area’s brimming with summer adventures—fishin’, hikin’, foragin’, golfin’, or ATV ridin’ on nearby trails. Copper Falls State Park, just 6.5 miles north, offers stunnin’ views, while Drop Tine restaurant in Cayuga (3.5 miles south), serves up a mean fish fry and burgers.

    **THERE IS ACTIVE LOGGING BY THE CABIN, not on weekends, but there will be stumps and dirt around the cabin as we cut back the trees and make a lawn/parking lot.** If you are looking for the perfect Up North rustic weekend get away we have the perfect spot for you. Nestled back in the woods off the beaten path up in the small little town of Prentice WI is CCR Rustic Retreat. This quaint little off-grid cabin is found on the side of our family’s cattle ranch. It's the perfect "farmcation" spot. It's a studio style A frame connected to hundreds of acres of trails. The land provides access to the Price County snowmobile trail and the ATV route. You can hike, snow shoe, cross country ski, ride wheeler, snowmobile, UTV, or even horses to the 6 1/2 acre private lake that’s secluded further back on the property. Where you can take out the paddle boat or kayaks for a relaxing afternoon on the water. Wake up in the morning to enjoy your coffee on the front deck overlooking the field of cattle and/or horses. You can hike the woods and forage for lunch, we provide books for this adventure to make sure you are safe. You can go berry picking for a sweet snack. Kids can wade in the creek and build fairy gardens and houses. It truly is a magically place! Have a picnic on the dock, or in the picnic area by the historic 100+ year old beaver dam that holds the chain of lakes together. Wake up in the morning and collect eggs from our chickens and ducks for a protein packed breakfast. We can arrange for a whole ranch life experience. Help feed the animals, when it’s season, tend to and enjoy the fresh garden, if it’s calving or failing season you can even help witness the miracle of birth. Run around and give snacks to the goats. There are hundreds of acres at your disposal to explore and find adventure. While there is no indoor plumbing, the cabin is equipped with a generator, and an outhouse. There is a black stone, microwave, fire pit available for cooking and a Kurig for your morning cup of coffee. You can bring your horses up and park them in a small paddock out the front door. There is water available with hose access across the 40, up by the barn. In the warmer months there is a 300 gravity tank for water access on site. We also offer bear, coyote, bobcat, and grouse hunting packages. You can have the opportunity to see abundant wildlife including deer, bear, coyotes, bobcat, smaller woodland creatures, and a multitude of feathered friends. We offer “farm fresh food” packages including home grown beef, pork, and fresh duck and chicken eggs from our own farm. We are with in 20 miles of many lakes and rivers for fishing opportunities, as well as amazing sight seeing opportunities like Timm’s Hill and Big Falls. Also it connects to public land that is land locked, as well as close to other public land like the National Forest and school forest.     Update: This property was just awarded 2nd place for 2024 as the 2nd best Hipcamp in Wisconsin out of 252 Hipcamp's based on reviews and ratings! Thank you to all who have enjoyed this amazing property and provided a review or rating!!! On the upper Bad River, I have a special location that I'd like to share for others to enjoy. I was fortunate to acquire this land 20 years ago and now that I have retired from the United States Air Force, I can dedicate time to create peaceful campsites along the river. This land was originally railroad property as the railroad companies bought much land in the late 1800's to have options to place their railroads. There is still a railroad track nearby but it has been abandoned since 2015 and it makes a nice hiking path along the river for many miles to the north. There are 3 waterfalls nearby and I will have many signs leading to the waterfalls. There are 4 total campsites on the property, 1 site you can drive to (Eagle Pines), and 3 tent sites that require 1/8 mile hike to 2 sites, and a 1/4 mile hike to the other hike-in site.

    We own a 39 acre property on the east side of Ashland, WI. There are three primitive/walk in (no water available, no facilities, no tables) campsites available and a couple of trails. More trails to come. Enjoy the night sky as many, many stars are visible. The property is mostly wooded and can be wet in spots during the spring. You are allowed walk the site off trail at your own risk. Please park your vehicle as close to one side of the driveway as possible as not to block the driveway so if needed the tower company has access to the tower. Please do not walk in the cleared area near the front of the property to the right of driveway/access road, as this area has been planted with Christmas tree saplings. There is a dedicated campfire square in the site. Please do not burn outside of this area. There is plenty of dead and down firewood to collect in the nearby woods – some may need to cut to size. There are no garbage cans on site, so please pack out what you pack in. Hike to the sites: Campsite 1 – Near County Highway A – just past gate. Large enough for two 4 person tents Campsite 2 – From gate - .10 mile hike – large enough for a 4 person tent Campsite 3 – From gate - .13 mile hike – large enough for a 3 person tent What is nearby?     This little chunk of land is a place that offers peace, solitude and an unplugging from life's hectic pace. Our 9 acre wooded lot is a quiet, secluded, woodsy retreat perched above the beautiful Chippewa River. The shallow river is perfect for wading, tubing or paddling. The undergrowth is a carpet of ferns & native plants. Birders will love this spot. We also encourage bringing your dog friends. We have several fire rings and encourage responsible campfire hangouts. *Please do not bring firewood. We provide dry wood & dead fall may be used for campfire, but ABSOLUTELY NO CUTTING from live trees, please. TENT site: Tent site is pretty basic-- it fits one large tent (12'x15') pad and has a fire ring, a cooking grate and picnic table. While it does not have electricity, there is an outlet on the property to charge phones, etc. BATHROOM: Our well maintained outhouse is a short walk from the tent site, and stays stocked with TP. It also has a solar light for night-time visits. CAMPERS/VANS: We have 30 Amp electric hookup available for small campers! Bring your pop-up or pull-behind. Intermediate trailer-backing skills are necessary to reach the camper site. *Summer /Fall '23 we began building our cabin and trailer access has changed a bit. Please inquire about camper use before booking. *We do not allow hunting, shooting or ATV riding on the property. Archery practice is Ok however. ** As we continue our A-Frame cabin build, you will see some construction clutter and cut trees. We will never be working during your stay, however - you'll have the place to yourself unless otherwise agreed upon. Feel free to view the cabin from the outside but please do not enter the structure.
