On the upper Bad River, I have a special location that I'd like to share for others to enjoy. I was fortunate to acquire this land 20 years ago and now that I have retired from the United States Air Force, I can dedicate time to create peaceful campsites along the river. This land was originally railroad property as the railroad companies bought much land in the late 1800's to have options to place their railroads. There is still a railroad track nearby but it has been unused since 2015 and it makes a nice hiking path along the river for many miles to the north into the national forest. There are 3 waterfalls nearby and I will have many signs leading to the waterfalls. There are 4 total campsites on the property, 1 site you can drive to (Eagle Pines), and 3 tent sites that require 1/8 mile hike to 2 sites, and a 1/4 mile hike to the other hike-in site. There is no leash required for good pups. If your pup is aggressive with other dogs or people please leash them when on the hiking trails. If your pups would stay in your campsite no leash is required. Other campers may be hiking past your campsite on the trails that is still over 100 feet away from others campsites. You may run into others on the trails where others dogs may not be leashed. If your dog is aggressive to other dogs even if yours is on leash if you can’t control them please muzzle them. River's Edge is a four season adventure company in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, outfitting adventurers with equipment and guidance. The property is located on the Manitowish River, Heart of Vilas County bike trail, and Iron County snowmobile trails. By car we're about eight minutes from WinMan Trails, ten minutes from MECCA Trails and Mercer, three minutes from Manitowish Waters. As we're right on the bike path, riding to lunch or dinner is easy, with lots of yummy options close by. We have two campsites on our property, primarily for adventurers looking for a central basecamp location from which to go do all the fun things we have available in the Northwoods. Campsites are located on the west end of the property, in proximity to all the activities, and include full hookups, a picnic table and fire ring. Site One is closest to the river and bike path. It's more secluded and separate from the main lodge area. Of the two sites, this is the best if you plan to hang around camp and chill. It does have trees lining the parking space, so if you have a trailer above 11'-13' be careful backing in. Site Two is right off of the main parking area next to the lodge building. While we're working on natural barrier growth, it is kind of in the middle of activity during our busy seasons. It is, however, the easiest to back into with a large trailer. If you're looking for a convenient place to bring your RV or trailer and don't mind being less secluded, this is for you. If you're looking for a national forest experience, this is not for you. The main lodge is open for use until 10pm-ish. There are couches, tables and board games available for guests. A bathroom is available for campers in the lodge, however there is no shower. We highly recommend The Manitowish Waters Athletic Club for shower facilities, hot tub, and pool. Day passes are reasonably priced and the facility is extremely well appointed. It's about three minutes by car or ten by bike. Campers get a discount on rental equipment. Wifi is available in the lodge. Our sites are open year-round, although water service will be turned off when temps are below freezing.

The trail is hilly and rugged—true Northwoods terrain—but well worth it. A paddle boat is waiting for calm floats on the water. ATVs and side-by-sides can also use the trail for quicker access. We’re working on installing a dock, but until then, plan to wear high boots or get your feet wet reaching the boat. The lake has no public access, so it’s all yours! Local DNR folks say there may be trout in the lake—we’re looking forward to confirming that this summer. Escape to the wilderness! This private three-acre wooded site is perfect for anyone seeking a secluded camping experience. With 300 feet of frontage on the East Fork of the Chippewa River, easy access to countless lakes and rivers, and thousands of acres of the Chequamegon National Forest at your doorstep, this property won’t disappoint any outdoor enthusiast. Note: When you rent our property you get the whole thing. We are not a campground. This is a private 3-acre parcel on the Chippewa River. You will not be sharing the site or facilities with anyone else. There’s plenty of space to set up your camper or tent on the gravel pad, or you can meander down the cleared path to the river’s edge, where you’ll find your own private park complete with a fire ring, picnic table, two tent platforms (10'x12' each) and breathtaking views of the flowing river. Note: the river camping area is approximately 150 yards down a walking path. The flat and level gravel RV/parking pad offers both 30- and 50-amp service and accommodates campers up to approximately 20 feet in length, with pull-in access (not a pull-through site). Water is available from our new well on the property. The gravel pad is about 60 feet in diameter. A full-size truck (F150) with a 20' trailer should be able to pull in and fully turn around into position on the pad. There are multiple fishing and recreation lakes within a 30 minute drive, hundreds of miles of nearby ATV/UTV trails to explore, and many mountain bike trailheads are only about 30 miles from this location as well.

We own a 39 acre property on the east side of Ashland, WI. There are three primitive/walk in (no water available, no facilities, no tables) campsites available and about 1.5 miles of trails. Enjoy the night sky as many, many stars are visible. The property is mostly wooded and can be wet in spots during the spring. You are allowed walk the site off trail at your own risk. Please park your vehicle as close to one side of the driveway as possible as not to block the driveway so if needed the tower company has access to the tower. You will need to park between the road and the gate. You are not able to drive past the gate. Car camping is available between the road and the gate. Please do not walk in the cleared area near the front of the property to the right of driveway/access road, as this area has been planted with Christmas tree saplings. There is a dedicated campfire square in the site. Please do not burn outside of this area. There is plenty of dead and down firewood to collect in the nearby woods – some may need to cut to size. There are no garbage cans on site, so please pack out what you pack in. Hike to the sites: Campsite 1 – Near County Highway A – just past gate. Large enough for two 4 person tents Campsite 2 – From gate - .10 mile hike – large enough for a 4 person tent Campsite 3 – From gate - .13 mile hike – large enough for a 3 person tent What is nearby? Historic Town of Ashland The Ashland Waterfront Trail The Artesian Well Kiosk at Masalowski Beach in Ashland The Apostle Islands are 40 minutes/26 miles away Bad River Casino is 14 minutes/10 miles away Copper Falls State Park is 38 minutes/28 miles – hiking, Wisconsin State Park admission sticker/daily fee required Whittlesey Creek National Wildlife Refuge/Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center is 13 minutes/7 miles away - hiking ABC Raceway (Stock Car racing) is 9 minutes/6 miles away Bayfield Ghost Walk is 36 minutes/25 miles away Beyond the Catch Guide Services (fishing charter) 32 minutes/23 miles away So that you are aware: Hipcamp will be adding a "service fee" (15-20%) when you complete the booking to cover their site management and other things. I don't get any of this service fee and they also take an additional 15% from the price I list to cover the $1 million in insurance for you.

We loved our stay at Dean's spot, and so did our dog!! Dean is a great host and leaves very clear instructions for the property and signage on where the sites are as well as marked trails that lead to some falls along the river. We hiked about 3 miles one-way on the railroad tracks that led to a beautiful rocky area with falls. The canoe is a plus for a peaceful ride down the river. This campsite is clean, well-maintained, and fairly private from the world around you, which we absolutely loved! This was the perfect time of year to come with all the trees changing color for fall!

As a battle-hardened camper, the distance of the hike in was a breeze for my group and I. The trail can be difficult, but I actually enjoyed the hike. During the first two days, we explored the waterfalls around the area and didn’t get a chance to explore Dean’s land. On the third day, however, we finally had the opportunity to explore it. Compared to Copper Falls and the other well-known waterfalls in the area, which offer some great views, Dean’s land was a completely different experience. We were able to get right into the river, swim, fish, and simply enjoy the surroundings. Honestly, we enjoyed our time at Dean’s land much more than visiting the more well-known falls in the area.

It was a nice get away. The bugs were fair. It wasn't too bad of a walk in but Im glad we didn't have the kids and all their extra things. The river was low so wasn't able to go very far in the canoe. The first night we walked the trail to the falls and were only able to find the first little one. Trails were a bit overgrown and towards the end unclear. I used the maps on this app to see if I could find my way but didnt want to feel like I was walking aimlessly and unable to find my way back as it was getting dark so I gave up. Second day we made our way over to potato falls and wished we brought our swim gear, can definitely spend a whole day there and its about 30 min away. It was also a short drive to copper falls state park for some additional hiking. We brought firewood with us and made a few trips to the parking lot and back. If you have a little chainsaw or skill saw with a couple batteries. Lots of frogs my dog loved hunting in the swampy area by our camp that would hop through the site at night.
