Thank you to all who have enjoyed this amazing property and provided a review or rating!!! On the upper Bad River, I have a special location that I'd like to share for others to enjoy. I was fortunate to acquire this land 20 years ago and now that I have retired from the United States Air Force, I can dedicate time to create peaceful campsites along the river. This land was originally railroad property as the railroad companies bought much land in the late 1800's to have options to place their railroads. There is still a railroad track nearby but it has been unused since 2015 and it makes a nice hiking path along the river for many miles to the north into the national forest. There are 3 waterfalls nearby and I will have many signs leading to the waterfalls. There are 4 total campsites on the property, 1 site you can drive to (Eagle Pines), and 3 tent sites that require 1/8 mile hike to 2 sites, and a 1/4 mile hike to the other hike-in site.

River's Edge is a four season adventure company in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, outfitting adventurers with equipment and guidance. The property is located on the Manitowish River, Heart of Vilas County bike trail, and Iron County snowmobile trails. By car we're about eight minutes from WinMan Trails, ten minutes from MECCA Trails and Mercer, three minutes from Manitowish Waters. As we're right on the bike path, riding to lunch or dinner is easy, with lots of yummy options close by. We have two campsites on our property, primarily for adventurers looking for a central basecamp location from which to go do all the fun things we have available in the Northwoods. Campsites are located on the west end of the property, in proximity to all the activities, and include full hookups, a picnic table and fire ring. Site One is closest to the river and bike path. It's more secluded and separate from the main lodge area. Of the two sites, this is the best if you plan to hang around camp and chill. It does have trees lining the parking space, so if you have a trailer above 11'-13' be careful backing in. Site Two is right off of the main parking area next to the lodge building. While we're working on natural barrier growth, it is kind of in the middle of activity during our busy seasons. It is, however, the easiest to back into with a large trailer. If you're looking for a convenient place to bring your RV or trailer and don't mind being less secluded, this is for you. If you're looking for a national forest experience, this is not for you. The main lodge is open for use until 10pm-ish. There are couches, tables and board games available for guests. A bathroom is available for campers in the lodge, however there is no shower. We highly recommend The Manitowish Waters Athletic Club for shower facilities, hot tub, and pool. Day passes are reasonably priced and the facility is extremely well appointed. It's about three minutes by car or ten by bike. Campers get a discount on rental equipment. Wifi is available in the lodge. Our sites are open year-round, although water service will be turned off when temps are below freezing.

The master bedroom has a King-sized Sleep Number bed, 2 end tables, a dresser, and a chair and ottoman. A separate laundry room with a utility sink and closet for coats, boots, etc. is located just inside the front door. The main bathroom features a double vanity, plenty of cabinet space, and a jetted tub. Towels and washcloths are provided. The great room is a true entertainment area with a kitchen tucked in the corner that contains everything you need from utensils to plates to pots and pans along with a 3 stool breakfast bar and a kitchen table for 4 people. The great room also contains a love seat, couch, chair, and ottoman and a 55-inch flat-screen TV with streaming services. In the center of the great room is a beautiful stone and knotty pine fireplace and patio doors leading to a 300 sq foot deck that overlooks the forest and a heavily traveled deer trail. Off of the great room is the 2nd bedroom which has 1 Queen bed, a dresser, 2 end tables, and a television with streaming services. A private 3/4 bath (sink, toilet, and shower) is adjoined to this smaller bedroom.

We own a 39 acre property on the east side of Ashland, WI. There are three primitive/walk in (no water available, no facilities, no tables) campsites available and a couple of trails. More trails to come. Enjoy the night sky as many, many stars are visible. The property is mostly wooded and can be wet in spots during the spring. You are allowed walk the site off trail at your own risk. Please park your vehicle as close to one side of the driveway as possible as not to block the driveway so if needed the tower company has access to the tower. Please do not walk in the cleared area near the front of the property to the right of driveway/access road, as this area has been planted with Christmas tree saplings. There is a dedicated campfire square in the site. Please do not burn outside of this area. There is plenty of dead and down firewood to collect in the nearby woods – some may need to cut to size. There are no garbage cans on site, so please pack out what you pack in. Hike to the sites: Campsite 1 – Near County Highway A – just past gate. Large enough for two 4 person tents Campsite 2 – From gate - .10 mile hike – large enough for a 4 person tent Campsite 3 – From gate - .13 mile hike – large enough for a 3 person tent What is nearby? Wow! What a magical place. I had an amazing time camping at Eagle Pines On The Bad River and spending a gorgeous exploring Deans land. He’s clearly put much time and care into building and maintaining the trails. The map, signs and ribbons were very helpful for navigating the area. It was an absolute delight and adventure hiking the trails and wandering around the three waterfalls. Dean was also an excellent host. He was incredibly accommodating, responded quickly to my messages and provided very detailed instructions and recommendations upon booking. I highly recommend these sites to anyone wanting a peaceful, somewhat rustic and secluded spot to stargaze, canoe/kayak, hike and commune with the land and water. I hope to visit again soon.

We had the greatest time camping at Bad River Wilderness! We stayed at Bad River Point. Dean was most accommodating and helpful. The campsites are very remote and short walks to the waterfalls. Gorgeous property! Extremely clean and well taken care of! We enjoyed hiking the beautiful paths! Walking on the railroad tracks. Exploring in the canoe was also fun! Although I arrived in the dark, I still found it fairly easy to navigate and find my campsite based on the directions Dean sent and the posted signs he made. I was impressed at how nice the campsite was -- it is clear that a lot of work was put in to haul in a lot of accommodations (chairs to sit on, smores sticks, lifejackets, canoes, food safety bins, etc) and create easy to navigate trails to the campsites and waterfall spots. This is a lovely place to just spend the night or have a long weekend getaway. Unique location right on the river and unique way to get there (crossing railroad tracks and hiking in). I found the location to be very quiet and secluded which I really enjoyed; it felt like I had backpacked quite far into the woods, not just walked a couple minutes from my parking spot. Highly recommend!

I had a nice stay on Dean's property. Not only was it quiet and along the river, but it was also a good jumping off spot to play tourist in the area. The ability to have the dog off-leash made us both happy. My pup had a great time in the woods, running and exploring. The sites are definitely walk-in. It's not a difficult or technical walk, but expect your standard rocks, roots, and wet leaves. A bit of up and down. More advanced beginner than totally flat. (I include this for those of us with knee issues.) I arrived at night (my fault for the late start) and had no issues getting to my site thanks to the thorough directions and the signage on the property. Overall, good time!

Nice spot on the lake in between 2 other properties. Beautiful view to west. Access to outhouse was convenient.

Weekend Trip to Adventure Basecamp at River's Edge

Great location! Beautiful spot right on the river. Very friendly workers at the lodge as well. Might not be for the kind of camper who just wants to sit at their site all day but if you're lookong for an adventure down the river or to get some mileage on the beautiful bike trails then this is an AMAZING spot. We will definitely be back.

The campsite was spacious and tucked away from the other sites which provided a good amount of privacy. Our dogs had enough space to run around and explore and we loved every second of it!

Weekend Trip to Bad River Wilderness

The campsite was magical! If you're looking for a beautiful place to really get off the beaten path, this is a great place to do it. The river was nice for a cooling swim on a hot day. Dean takes very good care of the property. I could occasionally hear voices off in the distance from other campers and their dogs, but I never saw another person in the day and night I spent there.
